Human Communication is the most interesting class that I took in the entire year. The professor is from China and her name is Moyi Jia. She is a lovely professor and she teaches very funny and well. This course is about all the human communication and how people communicate to each other. And it is an easy course that you can take and it is really helpful for you. The very first class is that she taught us a lot of interesting things about how people interact and communicate with each other. She showed many interesting and funny examples about the rule of shaking hands with people and who is the last person to go into the room that shows the power. Human communication includes perception, language, nonverbal, listening, culture, interpersonal communication, small group communication, organizational communication, and mass media. The most interesting topic is interpersonal communication and it talks about how people choose their friends and hoe people get together as friends or couple. There is a filter that help a person to choose their friends. First you look at their physical appearance, then their perspective about things and then their psychological traits like personality. And then the professor talked about how couple came along and how they torn apart. It is an interesting topic because you can relate to those concepts and see yourself in those concepts. Then there is a group project that you should work with other peers. It is interesting because you work with people from different backgrounds and you will see how different cultures reacts to each other. Moreover, it is really a good chance that you can make close friends with through the project and learn how to communicate and negotiate with group mates when the opinions are different in the group. I really enjoy this class.(304字)

Cortland is a countryside which is just like Hualian in Taiwan, so don’t be shocked when you arrived Cortland and get ready to have a lot of walk. State University of New York is a system that collaborates lots of colleges and universities together as a league to make connections with each other. There are 20 or more residence halls on campus, included West Campus Circle, and eight buildings where you go to classes. The only difference is that West Campus Circle is a residence hall that is not located on campus and it is approximate 10 minutes away from the main campus. So how can you get to the main campus for classes? There are busses running between West Campus Circle and the main campus, and it comes every 20 minutes from 7:20 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. And after 3:30, it comes 30 minutes at West Campus. There are 2 dining halls, Bistro and Neubig, where you can get food on campus, and the food is not so good. I live at West Campus and shared the apartment with three other roommates. There is a living room, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and 4 bedrooms in an apartment. You can cook your own meals in the apartment which is really nice. The weather in Cortland is nice when the sun is out and it will snow for over 5 months, even in the early spring. Therefore, make sure that you prepare warmer clothes if you are afraid of cold.(242字)

It is challenging for me to study abroad and so do you. However, it is a good chance and experience to study abroad. Think easily, you just leave your country, friends, and family and go to America. But it is not that easy because there are a lot of different challenges for you to deal with and a lot of new things to learn and to experience. After I arrived Cortland, the first thing I need to face is what ingredients I need to buy in order to cook myself meals and survive in this place. It is hard for me because I always buy food in Lanyang Campus and I don’t cook in school. Now, I can cook every single meal by myself after studying abroad. I believe you will be a good chef after you study abroad and maybe you had already knew how to cook and I believe that you will survive well in Cortland. Making friends are important although it is hard to make friends with people from other cultures. Remember you should be brave to make those connections with others within the classes, clubs, or different events. And don’t be shy to talk to them because they are willing to make friends with you and understand your culture. Learning is important but don’t forget to do some travels to relax yourself. During this year, I travel to several cities on the east coasts, including New York City, Orlando, Rochester, Boston, and so on. It was a great time that you got to plan your own trip and you will learn a lot during the trip. Friends from a club "Cru"(278字)

There are some advices that I want you to remember. First, don’t be afraid of studying abroad. SUNY Cortland is a college that cares about every single person on campus, especially international students. The International Program Office is a place that you will go a lot for help and don’t be shy to ask them for help. Moreover, it offers you a lot of chance to make connections with others, including trips, parties, orientations and all kinds of events. You should attend for those events in order to help you experience the country, cultures and the lifestyle of the country. Moreover, you will have some orientation assistants as friends that will help you get used to the place and help you with difficulties while you are in the country. Those orientation assistants are very willing to help you with your problems and concerns, so feel free and don’t be shy to ask them for help. Sometimes, those orientation assistants will hold some parties for international students in order to let those students feel here as a family instead of being lonely. You don’t want to miss those parties because you will have a lot of fun. And there is a library for students to study and it will be one of your friends during midterm and final exams. By the way, most professors are very nice and they will do their best to help you with the class and answer your questions well. Last but not least enjoy studying abroad, learn as much as you can, and don’t forget to do some cool stuffs.(269字)

I want to share an unforgettable experience to you. During my spring break, I went to Texas to help out the people who suffer from hurricane Harvey. I help them to build houses like cutting and inserting dry walls, painting their houses, and cleaning their yards. It was a special memory for me. I learned a lot from those people’s attitudes when suffering bad things and also, they encouraged me and change my attitude when facing difficulties throughout my life. My junior year is the most unforgettable and most wonderful in my life so far and I really enjoy it. I hope you will have a great experience as mine while you are studying abroad.
