(一)基本資料

I studied in William Angliss institute in Melbourne from July 2018 to May 2019. I chose four subjects which is cooker and recipe, foundations of cuisine, food and beverage knowledge, and FACS in the first semester. I continued study other subjects(hospitality) rather than do the internship due to I finished my internship in Taiwan. (53字)

My favorite subject is hospitality concept and context in the second semester. The research that I did on hospitality revealed several concepts about hospitality that corroborate my perspectives about it as well as a few that contradict my previous views on hospitality. Firstly, I have always thought that service and hospitality are synonymous, but the research and the videos revealed that there is a difference between the two concepts. Hospitality goes beyond service as it ensures that consumers receive an experience that is so fulfilling that it is unforgettable. Although this revelation conflicted with my previous belief that hospitality and service are synonymous, it started to make more sense after I reflected on it and recalled some previous experiences I have encountered as a customer receiving a service. For instance, I once visited a restaurant with my parents, and the waiter who served us appeared unenthusiastic. He approached our table and did not even greet us or ask us what we wanted to order. He merely stood there and waited for us to make our order. He wrote down our orders then left for the kitchen, and returned a few minutes later with our food then left again, all the while not uttering a single word. Although the waiter fulfilled his duty by taking our order and delivering our food, we have never returned to that restaurant since that day. It is now clear to me that I never returned because the service I received was not unforgettable. If the waiter had greeted us pleasantly, engaged with us genuinely, and demonstrated a willingness to serve us, we would probably have enjoyed his service so much that we would have returned to the same restaurant over and over again. However, we never thought of going back because the service we received was flat, uninspired, and forgettable. In other words, the waiter did not demonstrate hospitality but offered a service. Consequently, the research has given me insight on how to differentiate between service and hospitality. (333字)

William Angliss institute is located in the heart of Melbourne. The uni has a small campus not like others, but it got all we need, for example, the library in William Angliss is not just a library, which is also provide the free tutor that we can ask any questions of the assessments. There are a lot of details that we should be careful of looking for accommodation, for instance,I've moved three times in Melbourne, the first time I moved from suburb to the city I got my deposit easily because the landlord is a Taiwanese, and I almost lost my deposit from a Chinese landlord because of a dot on wall. However, we must check all the details of contract before sign it. Just don't need to worry too much about the high living price and homesick in Melbourne. If you cook by yourself for every meal it would not be expensive, and there are many asian market where you can buy a variety of asian food. There are also several festivals in Melbourne so do not miss the opportunity to apply for be a volunteer in the event.(191字)

I believed that plan a schedule in the first week of whole semester which is the most important thing we must to do. You will know all of your assessments in the begining of the semester, however the assessments are difficult more than your imagination so just start it as soon as possible that you can fix it. We can also go to the library ask the tutor to check your research if you have any issues about the assessments. I really learn a lot from several research, I can apply these learnings in the hospitality industry in various ways. Firstly, I can use the new knowledge regarding the distinction between service and hospitality to improve the quality of services. To ensure that customers receive hospitality services that meet their needs, I can solicit for customer feedback for every instance of service provision and, subsequently, take measures to improve aspects of the service that customers found unsatisfactory. Secondly, I can improve authenticity by setting up an incentive-based system to motivate employees to become more authentic in the delivery of their services. Thirdly, I can apply the information about the role of power in the hospitality industry by ensuring that the services I deliver align with the policies of those in power. In this way, I can win their support and encourage them to avail the resources that are necessary for the delivery of that hospitality initiative. (236字)

I definitely recommend to live in city because william angliss institute is located in the city and also nearby Southern cross station, which has the sky bus(the coach to Melbourne airport directly). Moreover, it is easier to get a part time job and convenient public transportation. There is another thing we need to be careful about it when you looking for a rent house. We must have a look every items in the contract carefully otherwise it is very hard to get back your deposit while you move to another place. Also, it is better to live alone that you can force yourself for making new friend. "Cookery and recipe" I would like to recommend this course if you want to challenge yourself and more practical in the class, but you still need to do a lot research for the essay because 70 percentage of the mark come from the essay. "Hospitality context and concept" is also a interesting course, one of the assessment that is filming a interview video. Each of student was be required to interview one person outside of the group regarding their perspective of hospitality and the video including these interviewees’ perspectives, as well as those of group members. It is really interesting when you hear the several answers from the interviewee because they all come from different culture, background and country. All the video was presented in the last class which was funny, and you get learn more from it. (245字)
