2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

Last September, it's my first time stepping on Europe. As I stepped out the plane, I knew everything would be different and my life would be full of challenge. University Paris 7, Paris Diderot would be my school in the next two semesters while studying abroad. Most of the courses I chose is related to image analyses, history of photography and film. In the second semester, I chose some course related to American city culture. (74字)

(二)課程學習

My favorite class is the drama workshop in the first semester, it really helps me a lot to learn how to present myself naturally in many kind of way, especially by body language. In this class, there’re some rules which really interested me. First, no French. Because this course is open to everyone from any department, it’s a good chance for me to practice English expression. Second, during the class, there’s no judgement between the classmate. Everyone can feel free to express themselves without worrying about others thought. The professor in this class is very humor, always came up with some funny words or sentences to let the atmosphere in the classroom be full of joy. During the class, we explore different ways of expressing emotions, of working on literature, and building relationships with other students. It is a great opportunity to practice English in a non-judgmental environment, to open up to others, and to discovers new ways in which one can relate to literature. Except for having class in school, we also have chance to visit the theater, having great show together, to see how those wonderful actors performing those impressive skills which we’ve learn in class. There’s also one class I like, but it’s not in the class list, which is travel. It’s the best class for everyone who love to explore new thing, learn those thing that you will never know in school. I travel alone most of the time, what I learn is not only how to book the cheapest ticket and best hostel, but also how different is this world from what we imagined. This is the class I will recommend the most to everyone who will have chance to study abroad. (294字)

(三)生活環境

Located in 13 district of Paris city, left bank of the seine river, the school is smaller while compared to tamsui campus, the school has 5-6 building separately around the school courtyard. My apartment, provided by the government, is very close to two of the teaching buildings, I remember the shortest time to reach the classroom for image analysis class is only 1 minutes. China town is about 15 minutes away by walk, which means it's very convenient to get some Chinese ingredients for meals. Bank, post office, metro station, bus and tram station are also very close to my apartment, the bus route 63 terminated just in front of the apartment's main door. to the city center, the best way is by metro, it takes 10 minutes to chatelet, the biggest metro station in Paris. Even though the metro is faster than the bus, I would still take bus to the center if I have time. The main reason is because it provides a good chance to have a look at Paris city, the old Haussmannien Appartement, the seine river, Île de la Cité… of course taking bus can make me get rid of those people rushing to the city, the bad smell in the metro station result from the no-air-condition system. the weather in Paris is very warm in fall, cold, even snow in winter, which made me very excited since it's my second time to see snow. while due to the heatwave happened around European countries this year, Paris became extremely hot in summer, the highest temperature is 42℃, otherwise the summer in Paris will be cool but warm, just like the weather in fall. to my surprised, the air here is more dry than Taiwan, which made me totally get rid of the allergic rhinitis, I think this is one of the reason I love Paris.(304字)

(四)自我成長

Although the school life and curriculum are not as what I thought, there are many differences out of expectations. The biggest problem is that my French is not fluent and it is difficult to have well reaction with local students. Although the courses are all taught in English, the professors often use French to make theoretical explanations. Under such situation of being overwhelmed, I can only rely on myself, and pass the exam on the edge of being fail. But all kinds of incompatibility did not make me regret, because it would only make myself unhappy. Think about the original intentions, and what I am doing now, jusyt like Stan Lee said "You should do what you most want to do, and what your best at... you'll feel like you are playing it." Isn't that the reason I chose to come to France? After study for a semester in Paris, I met lots of frustration. The students here are well-educated. Compared with other students in the class, I have not experienced philosophy classes, have not participated in the philosophy test, the ideas are not so flexible, and the language ability is not good as well. While during the class, really learn the ideas and thinking patterns of the younger generation in France. Despite all I have said, the students here will still sleep during the class, use the phone, even shopping online, and read the script during the presentation. But I think people who can enter French public universities can be regarded as social elites in the future.(258字)

(五)大三出國建議

I must to say that the language ability is very important for student who wants to come to France no matter for study or just travel. French people is very proud with their language culture, they would love to talk to people with French while don't care much about if you can speak French or not, especially in big cities like Paris or Marseille. one of the reason is that they want to treat people oversee as local, it's a kind of respect to show that you are one of them. Second, it’s hard to immerge into their small community in school, even you are all in the same class. Unlike Taiwanese students, if there’s a new face in the new semester, most of them will go the have some chat with the new guy after class, especially if he or she is from other country, this is what I experienced, and this is also what I expected to happen in my first class. But after having some courses in the first week in Paris, I realized that most of the French students will not talk to you unless you talk to them first, which means I have to become more active. another problem is that it’s easier to get along well with your French friends if you speak French. It doesn’t mean that speaking English is not good, but if your conversation are all based on French, it’s better to know more about their daily life, the trend in their society, and then become one of them. All in all, language ability is the most difficult thing to overcome, but is also the easily one. if you are hard enough, and spend a lot of time trying to speak out, not only your language will become better, your friendship will be a nice story in your junior abroad year.
