(一)基本資料

For my junior year abroad, I've chosen University of Warsaw. Warsaw is the capital of Poland and also one of the most touristic cities in Central Europe. School started in October but I decided to move there in early September to get to know the surroundings since that I was not familiar with the country back then. As to the courses I took this year, I mostly chose from Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies. Also I took the A1 Polish language for extra.(84字)

For all the courses I've chosen, unquestionably I would say that I liked Polish language course the most. When I first chose to come to Poland, I didn't know much about their cultural and language backgrounds and assumed all Europeans must be fluent in English. I was absolutely and irrevocably wrong. Most of the people that are more than thirty years old are not capable of speaking English but they would still try very hard to communicate with me which made me feel really frustrated at some point for not being able to understand a word especially they all looked so nice and kind. It is still very surprising realizing how much I have fallen in love with this language. Maybe it was because I've never found myself to have the needs to learn a third language but when I couldn't understand a word that was going on around me that made me realized how fascinating it would be if I could speak like a local Polish one day. Our professor was very nice and patience with used creative ways to motivate us to learn. at the end of every chapter she would let us compete against each other with a game of "Kahoot". "Kahoot" is game where peers can compete against each other through multiple choices through a website the professor has made beforehand. And to make things fun, whoever wins the game gets a bonus point on our monthly quiz. I was learning a lot and could almost say that I was proud of how much I've learnt in the first semester. I am grateful to have chosen Anna Dudek's class to learn Polish. For the effort she put in to inspire and encourage us genuinely helped students to have more passion, I would definitely recommend anyone who comes to UW to polish your Polish with her.(309字)

(三)生活環境

I wasn't sure if I was qualified to apply for the school dorms and I didn't want to waste time waiting, therefore I chose to rent a shared flat with a short distant from city centre. When I saw my room in picture I instantly fell in love with it, I would describe it as a petite attic which totally suits me! I was satisfied to see my room in person when I saw the window which I was already rooting for before arriving. I could push it out and stick my head out to enjoy the sunrise and sunset from above (which I did every day and still miss). It was my best comfort not only on a cold winter day but also during my stressful studying nights. One thing I love about living in Warsaw is that it is so convenient with transportation. In Taiwan, although we also have a decent metro and bus system, I still prefer to drive especially during late hours. However, in Warsaw I really didn't feel like I need to. With our student card we can buy season tickets with half the price (even though full price is already shockingly cheap!) and with it we don’t have to tap our cards until we need to revalidate it. There are buses, trams, shuttles, and metros widely and evenly spread throughout the entire city. There are even night buses that runs on the clock so you never have to worry about going out to a bar and chill with friends on a breezy Friday evening. (261字)

(四)自我成長

I was so nervous before my flight to Poland for I have never been out of the country for ten years and it was my first time to do it by myself. I remember having " cold-feet" saying that I wish someone could just bound me in Taiwan forever which now brings me a laugh thinking about it. I was lucky to have a lot of help and support from family and friends. And I am so graceful to have met more amazing people this year, each and everyone one of them taught me something different. I feel that not only did I came to learn from school but also learnt various life lessons and skills to be a better person. One of the things I wasn't use to before was to say my real opinions out. I was taught to be more reserved and to always tell good things and be polite and it had been the way of how I talk to people which had never been questioned. Thus, I was so shocked when one of my friends asked me " Am I talking to the real you or are you wearing a mask and hiding?" shortly after we met. I told him maybe and he told me I should be honest about my opinions and be able to talk freely and straight forward because western people don't usually get the riddles in between our words while in Asia people can usually spot the clues people are giving out. He also taught me to always be true to myself and not only accept but love the way I am and never let anybody judge me otherwise. For a long time, I have been lack of confidence and thanks to him I now know that I have to be me, love being me and only the true me.(307字)

(五)大三出國建議

Don't be afraid! It will be the best life changing adventures you'll ever have. Try stepping out of your comfort zone for a while. Make friends with the locals or other international students. I know it’s easier and more comfortable to stick with other Taiwanese, but you did not come all the way from Taiwan, flew 8500 kilometers across the globe to spend more time living with your own people. You are here to learn something new and the way of doing it is to step outside to the world! What you should ALWAYS keep in mind is to be careful, try to experience new things but don't try anything you are not comfortable or uncertain with trying because those are usually bad decisions. It might get your head a little bit squished when everything around you are new and unfamiliar and it’s one hundred percent normal because you are in a new environment. As long as you can tell from right or wrong, try as much as you can. Warsaw is a beautiful historical city so feel free to explore, try something new every day. There are so many beautiful parks and riverside for you to just relax all afternoon and interesting museums of all different themes. You can also go to events that are held by the school Erasmus system! They have various activities going on event weekend from beer pong to scrabble. My advice is simple. Try everything, explore the world, sit back and enjoy the ride!(251字)
