My favorite course is Elementary Korean I. I have always been very interested in Korean. I have been listening to Korean music for several years. I still remember a few years ago, YouTube began to recommend Korean R&B music to me. I immediately fell in love with their musical style and language. I never thought a language can fit in a music style so well. How they match is like English to hip hop, so perfect. Therefore, I immediately decided to pick this course when i know there's one. Before this, I have never learned anything about Korean. The only thing I know is how to say hello. As a result, I didn't even say it in the right way. This course not only allows me to speak Korean, but also teaches me more about Korean culture. As the course progressed, we began to practice talking to each other. This really helped me, a shy boy, got to know my classmates, and made friends with them. All of this is attributed to our professor, Mr. Li. He is a very interesting person and teaches us a lot. He always lets us speak Korean in the course, unlike most Asian teachers, who always encourage us to ask questions. I think the most interesting part is that he brings in the k-pop elements to teach us. He showed us k-pop music videos or tv shows and the news before the class start. He also use the music lyrics to help us memorize the common conversation. The reason I recommend this course is because you are not just learning this course. It also brings a lot of Korean culture. If you are interested in learning Korean, you must choose this course. (289字)

(三)生活環境

For the food, you’re not allowed to cook in the dorm room. Fortunately, we have two student canteens and several shops where you can get food. There are two coffee shops, so you can get energy at any time. We also have McDonald's, KFC, Chick-Fil-A and Subway in the campus. There are some Thai restaurants and Chinese restaurants on Philadelphia Street which you can within a mile from our campus. You're not allowed to cook in the dorm room. For the living, we live in the dorm room just like Lanyang campus. You can choose whether you want to have your own room or sharing with each other. They got multiple choices, so you'll know the options when you get the documents. The room is big and comfy; they already have bed, a desk and a chair. You got your own wardrobe and two big drawers to storage your clothes and stuffs. The shower room is good, so don't worry about the hot water. The weather is absolutely different from Taiwan. The highest temperature is around 23 Celsius and the lowest could be -11 Celsius. Do prepare for the winter, you'll definitely need coat. So, IUP might arrange a day to bring international students to the nearby outlet. You can get the clothes you need there. Make sure you check the notification and school information. You can either go to some other cities to get clothing. It's all depends on you. (241字)

(四)自我成長

I think the most important thing of dealing with the difficulties is to be open-minded. Everything is so different from Taiwan when you going abroad. I don't think there's a culture shock for me. Instead, I thought I’m just learning different culture, lifestyle and thinking. Learning how different people deal with different things. For example, Taiwanese drivers are not used to giving way to pedestrians, but Americans do. This kind of thing can lead us toward thinking why is there’s difference between Taiwan and the U.S. It’s really helping me to explore what my own thinking way. So I think there’s actually no need to be afraid of culture shock. Be positive about it, changing environment isn’t always a bad thing. You get to know different thing and culture. I’ll consider it as like we're in the game. When you leveling up, usually you going to a new map to facing the more dangerous monster. How to beat it is to understand the monster and changing your gear into better one. The monster is the fear of your culture shock and your gear is your thinking. Try to explore the map, and then maybe you’ll find better gear. Never be afraid to explore the new thing. Use the new knowledge you learned to improve your old thinking. And don’t push yourself too hard though. Our own culture usually lead us not to bother people or asking for help. It’s actually not a bad thing to asking for help. If you really facing the difficulties from your course or living, go for it!(272字)

(五)大三出國建議

For those students who are going abroad this year; always be open-minded. Try to choose the course you’ll not gonna get in Taiwan. Learning different culture and thinking way will be super benefit for this year. Try to make friends form different countries and learning their thinking way. You can always find things you don’t understand, but don’t be afraid of it. It’s just some process leads you to a better person. Don’t waste your vacation either. Try to go travel around and meet more people. It’s a nice and big world out there. If you decided to lay on your bed for the whole vacation, notice this, are you really go abroad just to study at school? Don’t limit yourself. Learning is not the thing you can only do in school. Anytime, anywhere you can make yourself better. So don’t waste your whole vacation at school. You can stay at your dorm room for long. But there’s so many interesting things waiting for you to explore. I’ve seen some amazing views, some crazy skateboarder speeding on the road and been to super horrify haunted house. I’ve been balling with those amazing players at the court. I’ve cooking curry and sukiyaki with Japanese friends. I’ve making Taiwanese food to those who don’t know about Taiwan. Be proud of your own country, although we have so much to improve. Trust me, just let go your fear and you’ll do all the best. I mean, try to make this year your best memory. Esskeetit!(267字)
