2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

CSULB is located in California, Long Beach. It is a good place, and the weather here is also very nice. I came here since August, 2018 to May, 2019. Last semester, I have six courses, Chinese, Geography, American Language Institute, Tennis, Badminton and Self Defense. While this semester, I only have four courses which are, Human Diversity in the U.S., Microeconomics, Volleyball and Basketball.(63字)

One of my favorite courses is Geography. The reason why I chose Geography is because the teacher is very kind, and I love geography very much. The teacher is born in American, but his parents are from Argentina, so he can speak Spanish too. He will sometimes tell us about Argentina, and I think it's a really a good chance for us to learn more about that country. I chose Geography in the first semester, and I found it very interesting during the classes. Although memorizing for the map is really a difficult thing, but we have already learned it before when we were a high school student, so I think it's not a problem for those who have learned Geography before. My dream is to travel around the world, so knowing where all the countries are and their cultures are very important for me. The teacher taught Geography in an interesting way so that the courses are not boring. He will also ask some questions in the classes, and people who have answered will get a bonus point. We work in groups to discuss the question the teacher gave us, and then we have to share what our opinions are. It is a good chance to meet new people in the class. We have many map quizzes, homework, midterm and final, but the teacher will review before it, and he will give us study guide to review for the quizzes. The study guide really helped us a lot! Without the study guide, I think we will have to study really hard by ourselves, and it really took time. We have to study hard and memorize the map for every upcoming quiz or else we don't know how to write in the test. All in all, if you like to travel around the world, you will probably want to take this class. You can learn a lot from the courses.(320字)

(三)生活環境

The weather here in California is very nice and hot, so you don't have to bring too many clothes. While, the apartment we live is very close to the school. You have to take the bus and it only took 10 minutes to go to the school. The bus station is just located in front of the apartment, so you don't have to get up very early. There are also lots of delicious food near where we live, such as IN-N-OUT, Chick-fli A, Burger King and so on. You can also find Chinese food, pizzas, and South East Asian food just across the street. We also have a swimming pool in our apartment, you can go swimming in the summer. There is no washing machine in our home, so we have to go to the coin laundry to wash our clothes. It is a little bit inconvenient for us, but fortunately, the coin laundry is just across the street, so you don't have to walk too far. The school campus is very big, and you can see there are lots of people lying on the grasses and picnicking. You can also see many squirrels running in the campus. One of the most famous feature in our school is the pyramid. The volleyball game holds at there, and many people will go and see the match. Our school's men volleyball is the champion for the last year, so many people will come and watch them playing the volleyball. It is very inconvenient if you don't have a car in the U.S., but it is convenient to travel in Long Beach because if you have a student ID, you don't have to pay for the bus fare. Uber is also the best choice for us because if you want to go to downtown LA, Uber is the fastest way if you don't have a car. (313字)

(四)自我成長

When I came here, I found it difficult to understand what people are talking about. It's a little bit hard to adjust in this condition which all speak fluent English. The Americans speak very fast, so you must pay attention to what they are talking about. You have to be very concentrated during the classes or else you may not understand what the teach is talking about. If you have any questions or problems, you can ask the teacher in the class or after the class. Compared to Taiwanese student, American students here are willing to raise their hands and answer the questions the teacher has asked. They ask many questions during the class, and the teachers are always willing to answer for them. I think we are too shy to tell what our opinions are. We are not use to express our opinions while the teacher is teaching. This is the biggest difference of Taiwan and the U.S. in the aspect of education. If you have any questions, you should ask the teacher immediately. Try to raise your hands up and ask the teacher questions so that you can learn better in the classes. In the U.S., I found out that white people will stay together, while black will stay with the black, Asian people will stay with the Asians. It is an interesting thing that people will make friends with the same color. I strongly feel that people will decide whether to make friends with you or not by judging the color. If you came here, try to make as many friends as you can, and you can learn more about different cultures.(277字)

(五)大三出國建議

If you choose to study at CSULB, you don't have to bring so many heavy clothes with you. The weather is so nice in California and it is really hot in the summer. You can also buy many cheap things at here, so you don't have to bring too many things with you when you come here. I think here is really a good place to study! In my opinion, everyone who came to the U.S. must have a car because if you don't have one, it will be very inconvenient for you to go anywhere. In the U.S., no cars equal no foot, so many people will buy a car here or rent one. If you don't want to buy a car or rent a car, there are also Uber and Lyft for you to take. Those are the two apps that we frequently used while we were in America. There are lots of holidays in a semester, so you can plan to go anywhere you want to. You will probably have a good time at here. At the beginning you must feel homesick, but when the date you go home is getting closer and closer, you must feel that you don't want to go back. I have a lot of fun here, and I believe people who came here will also have the same feeling with me. You must cherish the time when you study abroad because you only stay here for two semesters. Time flies, so treasure the time when you are at here or else you may regret in the future.(267字)
