(一)基本資料

For Junior year, I went to Universidad de Castilla La Mancha in Ciudad Real. Ciudad Real is quite a small city in central Spain. There are not many activities and places for entertainment, but it is a great place to study Spanish and learn about their culture. It takes about fifty minutes by train to Madrid. The courses I took were mostly related to Literature and Business Management. (68字)

There was not a favorite class, but I loved Agustin Munoz-Alonso Lopez's Introduction to Modern Spanish Literature. Agustin is genuinely a fantastic teacher. Especially when he talks about literature and books, he seems very passionate and enthusiastic. His love for literature and art makes the students feel motivated. Erasmus students enjoy his classes because he is also very kind. My friends gave him a nickname, Angel, because he truly has a personality of one, and he always had a smile on his face. Spanish is very hard for some of us, but he can explain the ideas clearly in English, which is rare here in Ciudad Real, not many people could speak English even those who are working in the bank. What I enjoyed most about his class is that it does not feel like we are analyzing dull words and articles; he showed us the importance of resonance between the words and the readers, this allows us to have the feeling of virtually being in the story and during that period of history. The most memorable lesson was reading Don Quijote. I did not 'love' the book, but Don Quijote is a famous historical figure in Spain, and those classes helped me understood Spanish history and culture better. Don Quijote himself, is also an interesting person, especially seeing the troubles he gets himself into. Another subject that I would never skip was English for International Commerce. The most exciting project we did in class was to sell an innovative product or service. It reminded me of a course I took back in Lanyang about business when our group thought about opening a nightclub. The project I did here requires students to create a product/service, talk about it, film a commercial, print business cards, brochures, and posters. These hands-on practices are fascinating because there was not an exact correct answer. We get to create and imagine, but at the same time learn about the importance of marketing and business management. I created a service that delivers organic meal prep products to customers' front door with a robot delivery system. Some students thought of ideas like effective weight loss tablets, headsets for insomnia issues, animal cruelty-free sunscreen, and even digital contacts.(371字)

(三)生活環境

The friends that I met here believe this city is a bit boring. However, I personally think it is because they lived here longer. In the cities, we are constantly adjusting to the fast-paced lifestyle, and here, everything seems to slow down. I get to reflect on the past and recharge for the future which was also very fulfilling and productive. The campus itself is spread throughout the city. I have studied in both the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Letters. The two departments are just ten minutes away. I do not think it is necessary to have a car because it only takes around thirty minutes to walk from one side of the city to the other. For those who like to exercise, there is a gym called Go-Fit. It is thirty euros for one month, and that includes the basic gym facility, the classes(boxing, pilates, yoga, cycling and many more), personal trainer, the pool area, the sauna, and the shower which is a great deal. I stopped going to the gym in the last two months because I enjoyed walking and exploring the city. There are several supermarkets, and you can see Mercadona everywhere in Spain. It is the biggest supermarket chain. Another thing that I'd like to share is there are several Chinese restaurants and the one that I loved the most was Restaurante Chino Shanghai. In the beginning, I basically go there every day. Asian food is definitely my comfort food. The owner and his wife are the sweetest people I have met. I am so grateful for them for many reasons. They cooked a whole meal for my family when they visited Ciudad Real. Another time was when they took me to the hospital in the middle of the night. I felt extremely flattered, but they truly made me feel like I am home. A wide variety of stores are available in Plaza Mayor, which is the city center. Stores like Zara, Zara Home, Pull and Bear, Bershka, Massimo Dutti, Primor are just some of them, and they are mostly Spanish brands. There's a movie theatre as well, however, it only shows movies in the Spanish Language, that is why I had to go to Madrid for Avengers: Endgame, which has the VESO version. Things are very affordable here including the apartments. I live by myself in an apartment for two people, and it was 375 euros per month. Housing is usually 130 to 150 euros for a person, and it is almost impossible to find this kind of pricing in Madrid.(427字)

(四)自我成長

I have been studying in a foreign country since I was six, so it was easy to become used to the lifestyle and the culture here. The hardest part was accepting change and the language. I have mentioned above that in this small city only some professors and students spoke English. At first, it was a nightmare because I had to use google translator when I opened a bank account and when I applied for a residence card. I even had to sign a housing contract completely in Spanish. It was unforgettable and figured I was able to learn the language better in a condition like this. Although it is not my first time in a foreign country alone, I can say that I've grown the most this year. I noticed that I was enjoying being like a child and I was also afraid to meet new people and grow up. But this year really opened up my mind and I have grown so much. Meeting new people, making new friends, and traveling made this year even better. The beginnings are always full of barriers, but once I overcome them I see opportunities everywhere. I started to take violin lessons and tried to cook different cuisines at home. I'm proud to say that I made some new friends that will just maybe become best friends for the rest of our lives. I hang out with them every Friday to watch a movie and eat junk, to celebrate a week of healthy diet and hard work at school. We have watched Pride and Prejudice, The Boy, The Notebook, some old classic Japanese and Korean dramas. These are the moments I will miss the most when I am back home.(288字)

(五)大三出國建議

It is an amazing opportunity and experience to be able to study for one year in a foreign country. But the truth is, one year is a short time. Many people do not seem to cherish their time enough, including myself. Sometimes I would stay at home and watch Netflix for hours, or I would constantly think about how back at home is better than here. No doubt you will miss home and your family, but make sure to plan things well so you can make the most out of this year. If school work is not very tough, plan travels or take classes outside of school. I have violin lessons two times a week and I go to the gym almost every day. I also traveled during Chrismas break and other holidays. Rather than going to a lot of countries, I prefer staying longer in one and really enjoy simple everyday life like the people living there. Before you leave Taiwan, ask yourself what your goals are when you are abroad. Doing so, you will leave fewer regrets when it is time to go home. Setting goals and plan ahead will help you guide yourself throughout this year. I felt lost when I first landed in Europe, but now I feel motivated that I will be back in Europe again very soon. Try to fulfill each day with a positive attitude because time truly flies.Another thing to keep in mind is take care of yourself and try not to get sick, because going to the hospital is 'muy muy' expensive compare to the health care we have in Taiwan.(271字)

(六)其他

During the Christmas holiday, I went to Paris, London, and Amsterdam. After that, I completely fell in love with Europe. In Paris, we enjoyed amazing food. We had Vietnamese pho, macaroons and rose croissant from Pierre Herme. Fun fact: I had like six rose croissants. Besides the delicious cuisines, we visited the Royal Palace, the Palace of Versailles, the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, and Disneyland Paris. It was truly amazing, and I felt like living in a dream. In London, I went to Yifang Fruit Tea because I have not had boba in a long time. The moment I drank it, it reminded me of home. We also had pho again from Viet Food and even Taiwanese food in Chinatown. My friends and I also went to the Borough's Market for some fresh produce and visited other famous landmarks in central London. The best part was definitely the new year fireworks at the London Eye. It was breathtakingly beautiful. The next day we set off to Amsterdam. A new year and a new list of new year resolutions, I was ready for 2019, but then I got really sick, and the rest of the journey was just sad. I never got to thank the friends that took care of me back in Amsterdam, but I was really really grateful for them that they stuck by my side. I always ask myself after every journey what I have learned throughout these days. Apart from shopping and eating, I want to be able to say that I have grown from traveling and visiting these amazing countries with great histories and architectures. Later on, I went back to Taiwan for about a week and came back to Europe with my parents. We traveled to Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, and then Valencia. We tasted amazing seafood and paella. There are no words to describe how beautiful Basilica de la Sagrada Familia is. I believe every time I travel, I leave a part of me behind. It shows growth and improvements. I want to make the most out of each journey. In mid-April, I went on a break to find myself. Before going into my last year in college(hopefully), it is true that I feel quite panicked and worried. I wanted to use this break from school to think about my dreams and goals because I realized that I was straying away from the path I have planned for myself. I went to Finland, Sweden, and Denmark. Rovaniemi has become my favorite place in the entire world. It is a city in northern Finland and known as the official hometown of Santa Claus. I experienced a husky sled ride through the safari, and enjoyed sausages with hot lemon ginger apple juice in the middle of the forest. Rovaniemi is such a magical place. I am definitely moving here someday. Of course, I went to meet the real Santa Claus, and he surprised us with his Chinese. He named all the cities in Taiwan and wished us the best. In Sweden, the best part was going to IKEA. We had IKEA food and ice cream, and almost bought things from IKEA. The streets and houses in Denmark are so beautiful and clean(most of the time). I got to see the Little Mermaid and the statue of H.C. Anderson, who wrote lots and lots of fairy tales. I truly enjoyed every second of this holiday. (572字)
