2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

The school now I am studying is Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), which is located in Beppu City, Oita, Japan. There are two semesters in APU and each semester in APU is divided into two quarters. The study period is from the mid-September of 2018 to the late July of 2019. There are about fifty percent of students are from all over the world, and every foreign student have to learn Japanese as the second language.(74字)

My favorite courses in APU is Japanese (Japanese Foundation Course One). we have four classes every week, our teacher Toyoda Miyuki is very nice and patient. During class, we did a lot of practices as well, such as dialogue, writing, and listening. Because the number of Japanese classes is very small, we have a lot of time to practice in class, I think it is the most important thing for learning the language. Every week we have quizzes and homework. Also, at the end of the semester, everyone gave a presentation to introduce their hometown in Japanese. Through the class I think it's fun, because I can learn Japanese and Japanese culture through the class. Although I cannot learn Japanese very well in such a short period of time. However, I still think it is fulfilling to communicate with friends in some Japanese. I know nothing about Japanese when I came to Japan, but now I can understand a little bit when I'm traveling in Japan. I think I improved a lot and it's really a helpful course. At the same time our teachers are very patient, because each of our classmates is from all over the world. So, we don’t speak Japanese very well, but the teacher will patiently correct our grammar and gave us encourage when we answer the question correctly. Throughout the semester, the biggest challenge for me was the final presentation, because we didn't study much Japanese, but we need to report it in Japanese. But after the report, I am very happy that I have learned a lot and can already have a certain level. In this course I also made a lot of friends from different countries, it helped me learn more about different culture. In Japan, there are many places that still needs to talk in Japanese, so took this course helps me to talk with the people more easily. In general, I think Japanese classes are one of the most important lessons I have in APU.(335字)

(三)生活環境

APU is located in south Japan so the weather is warmer compare with the other place in Japan. In summer, the temperature is around 20 to 30 degrees and in winter the temperature will not lower than 0 degree at night. However, the wind is strong on the mountain, it still needs to wear warm in winter. All exchange students are living in the same dormitory in the downtown of Beppu City. Beside the dormitory there is a beautiful beach and hot springs. Also, the are several markets and convenient store so it is easy to buy everything. I think our dormitory is much better than any student in APU because the main dormitory is on the mountain, and the traffic is very inconvenient. For the people who live in downtown have to take bus to school. However, the are not as many buses as in Taiwan. Also, the amount that lives in downtown is large, so it is better to go to school earlier. Otherwise the bus will have full of people and takes longer time to school. Beppu is place famous for tourism, there are a lot of hot springs and nature landscape. However, in Beppu, it is better to bus an IC card for bus and train because the fee in Beppu is very expensive. The IC card has a special discount for student. In APU, there are many equipment, such as gym for student who likes to exercise, there are also library, self-study room, cafeteria and convenient store to buy stationery and textbooks. In general, it is very convenient in the dormitory and school.(265字)

(四)自我成長

I think that the year study abroad is a year full of challenge, but since Japan is also an Asian country like Taiwan, it is easier to adapt. The class time of the APU is different from that of Taiwan. The time of one class is one and a half hours, and there is no time for rest in the middle, so it is hard for me to adapt at the beginning. At the same time, I think that unlike the biggest one in Taiwan, the courses in APU need to be previewed in advance, because the progress of each class is very fast, otherwise it will not keep up with the content of the teacher's class. Also, the teachers here are more inclined to let the students make a group discussion, instead of just speaking on stage. In terms of life, although the Japanese are as enthusiastic as Taiwan, they are more conservative and will not take the initiative to help others, usually we have to ask them for help first. The other thing is although the place we live is a tourist area, most of the Japanese are still not so good in English. Sometimes it takes a lot of time to understand what they mean, but after a period of Japanese lessons, these situations have improved a lot. At the same time, there are many different habits in Japan compared with Taiwan, but for me it is easy to adapt, and my Japanese friends at school have also helped me a lot. In this period of time abroad, what made me increase is the independence of life and the seriousness of learning.(275字)

(五)大三出國建議

For many students, coming to Japan will not be the first choice for going abroad, including me. But after coming to Japan, I found that Japan is not a decision that makes me regret. At APU, we have about fifty percent of the students from all over the world. I think this is not inferior to those in Europe and the United States. Also, most of the exchange students live in the same dormitory, instead of living outside, there will be more opportunities to learn about the culture of different countries. In APU, you can learn Japanese, this is a rare opportunity to learn a second language, and the opportunities that using Japanese in future life, I think it is higher than the language of other countries. At the same time, when you travel to Japan in the future, it is also easy to communicate with local people. I strongly believe this is a worthwhile investment. In addition, schools often hold a variety of activities, such as the theme week of each country, or the travel of nearby attractions, plus each exchange student will have a dedicated buddy, so there is no need to worry about the holiday that has no place to go. For those who like to travel, Japan is also a good place. Although Japan's prices are quite high compared with Taiwan, it is still cheaper compared with Europe and America, and Japan's transportation is very convenient, and the distance between every place is not too far, so you can go to many places to experience the beauty of Japan. In general, coming to Japan is a very worthwhile choice. I recommend everyone to consider APU as a choice of study abroad.(285字)
