2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

From September 2018 to August 2019 i will be study in Poland. During the year of study abroad, i chose to study in UMCS which is located in Lublin, Poland. Lublin is a small city in Poland. It's more like a countryside compared to Warsaw. I study in Political Science and i chose some courses from Economics department as well. (58字)

(二)課程學習

The most impress me and the most i like the course is "International Communication and Negotiations". The professor was really intensively. He prepared a lot of information and also gave us lot of time to discuss our opinion to each other who were also in the class. I remembered when i was first in class, and we're the only two people who were from Asia, we both girls are shy and didn't know their style in class, and we were very quite, don't even say a word, we only speak for answer the professor's question to us. After the first class, our professor just came to us and asked us did we get used to live in Europe or what. He told us we shouldn't just be quite in class, we should speak our own idea when he gave an issue to let us talk about it. Our class have different people from all country not only Europe. Our culture and lifestyle are totally different! Professor let us talk about our own idea. This is a different way of teaching. Due to this class is called "Communication and Negotiation", so we're more like in a small group to communicate an international issue for the recent news. This class let me express my own opinion in front of people, because they will try to focus on your opinion and also share their thought to you. The professor knew we're from Asia and some of Asian people are not used to talk in the class, and he told us that we should try to speak and tell everyone our opinion, not just listen and be quite. From the class afterward, I was be more brave to speak out my own thought and idea! This is my favorite and my most influential class. After all, it is my first class in Europe, and then the professor takes care of all the students from all over the world. The professor also knows the different cultures and lifestyles of each state. Later, I also learned that learning is not only one-by-one. Learning is not only a matter of learning from a professor. Learning is to look at this vision from different angles, and to understand the differences from the opinions and ideas of people in different countries vision. (383字)

(三)生活環境

As i mentioned about, Lublin is a small and quite city in Poland. Not like a capital city. Here's more slow and free city. Our dormitory was really good compared to others. Two people a room and four people share a kitchen, bath and toilet. When we were first arrived here, The room was really clean and comfortable. Although the location was quite far from our faculty, but the dormitory is near the bus station, and also there have some small shop and restaurant nearby. I have to say that, to be honestly, the weather was not good during the winter. The weather is really dry and cold in winter, my skin was really dry and uncomfortable in the winter in Poland. But the weather after winter was all nice, I love their Spring season. It's refreshing and exhilarating! Food in Poland is really cheap! Cheaper than Taiwan, especially potatoes, bread and pastas! We almost eat those food every single day! There's a shopping mall near dormitory, just 15 mins for walk. The mall have lot of stuffs (clothes, food, supermarket, movies, etc) There is a shop called "Reserved". It is a clothes shop and it's from Poland. Their clothes and some accessories are quite good, and the price are not really expensive. The quality of clothes and pants are good as well. H%M, ZARA, BERSHKA, PAUL AND BEAR... those brand of clothes price are not differ a lot, and those brand are everywhere. So I will be more recommend their own brand "Reserved" (254字)

(四)自我成長

I think the most difficult thing for me is language, because most of Polish people don't really speak English. Especially for older people, sometime we just trying to ask road or some direction, most of them heard of English, and they just shaking their head and said "no English" I don't speak Polish before i came to here, so this is quite bothered me at first. When i was in supermarket or some shops, I had to translate every single words and try to understand what the meaning. And learning some Polish in the school, I still can't pronounce some words in Polish. Polish is quite hard for us, just like Chinese is hard for them as well. Polish people are very concerned about the external dress and look. In Taiwan i'll wear flip flop or slipper to the supermarket nearby the place i live, but in Poland, I never saw a person who wear slipper outside, and when i was first wear slipper to supermarket for buying some stuffs, those people just saw me as a weirdo, and just kept staring at me. After few weeks later, my Polish friends just told me that they won't just wear slipper or pajamas outside, it was rude and impolite. And when we having meal in the restaurant with Polish people, their habits are they will start eating after everyone's meal arrived. After few weeks after, we're trying to be in their culture. When in Rome, do as the Romans do! Not really hard as long as we try hard! (258字)

(五)大三出國建議

For those who want to study in Poland or Europe. I suggest that you need to know and learn some simple words from the country! Because there are lot of countries in Europe and each country has their own language and culture. Do not think that English is work in all over the countries. Even English is an international language, or even some of them can speak a little bit English, but some of them can't really speak well or maybe they don't want to speak English with you. So the best advice is after you decide to go to a country, make sure that you have to know some simple words, as long as use it for your life in the country. I remembered when i was travel in Paris, and actually most of French people can speak a little bit English, but not each of them are willing to speak English to you. And also for those who want to study in Poland. The winter in Poland is really cold and dry, you have to bring some anti dry oil or some lotion to protect that your skin won't be uncomfortable during the winter. The prices in Poland is not really expensive, most of food and shop are cheaper than Taiwan. For example potatoes and bread, for 5 kg's potatoes only cost 40 NTD in Poland. Because their main food is potato so you can see potatoes everywhere. The most important thing is, there's not much Asian food in Lublin this small city (Maybe Warsaw has more), so i suggest you to bring some instant noodles or some Taiwanese sources here. Here has kitchen, you can cook by yourself if you really miss the homemade food! (286字)
