2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

I went to Temple University in Philadelphia. I left Taiwan at August 18, about 1 week before fall semester started. I choose some computer science course and some other course that I’m interesting in. Also I choose two kinesiology course.(39字)

(二)課程學習

It is a course that I didn't expect that would make me give my all into that course. Jewelry course was a course in Temple University’s Taylor school. I choose the non-major of that course. But it still really interesting, and also had some difficulty. If the topic is make a ring we needed to design our own ring then discuss with the professor. After I finish the ring that I designed, we need to present and talk about what is the idea of it in class. I learn a lot of different techniques of making jewelry, and I think it’s the most interesting course that I had ever choose. The professor in Temple University is really kind to every international students. They will keep you in their mind and always ask you if you have any questions. Also they had some guide for international students, if you had any questions just email them. And you will get your answer in next 3 hours. I think that the education equipments were really sufficient and advanced. Because it's a dangerous place in Philadelphia, so we had lots of college polices and guards in front of each building. But we still can easily pass through, it's because that you just use your student ID card to scan then the guards will know who you are. Before the first fall semester started, we had a meeting for the international students from all over the world. So that we can learn more about Temple University, and also met some new friends. I think it's a really nice activity, not only we could get familiar with each other, we could also get some useful tips to assimilate into Temple University. We start to learned the whole campus, and how to drop or add courses. We didn't have to worry about can't find the classroom or don't know who to ask.(316字)

(三)生活環境

Temple University Main campus is really beautiful. It’s a large campus, if you want to walk to the other corner of the campus it will maybe take you about 15 minutes. The weather in Philadelphia is comfortable in summer but a little be too cold in winter for me. There were lots of shop, bank, supermarket surround the campus. I think it’s quite convenient to live there. But if you choose the course at 7 a.m. like me, you need to be careful when you walk through the campus. Even though there had a lot of security pillars, you still need to care about someone that walk by. When we all set for the living necessary, it's time for moving into our dorm. Seriously, it seems to me that this was the most exciting things after we arrived in America. It's a middle price dorm at there, but it's a really expensive price for the dorm in Taiwan. We got a little tiny kitchen, a really small kitchen. A bathroom with a bathtub, but without any usable sockets. Two nice bedrooms with a full size bed. The most satisfactory thing in our dorm is the full size bed, it's a double size of single in Taiwan. You can had a really high quality of sleeping there. After I came back, I really want to change my bed into double size in Taiwan. We choose the University Village, it just about 2 block to the Temple University. It’s security was quite well you need to had card whenever come in or out, and we had a 24hours vending machine between two building. It’s a nice choice for your dorm. (280字)

(四)自我成長

There were a lot of different cultures for me to learn. The first that made me really surprise was American were really polite to each other. They will hold the door for the next person that want to come out. When I hold for the next person, they will smile to you and say thank you! I don't know why, but when I heard that I can keep the good mood until the end of the day. Just a little word that can makes a difference in a day. But I also think that it’s dangerous in America. All of the local people tell us not to walk on the street by yourself. Don’t go to north Philadelphia. Do not go out after eight at night. Don’t take the subway after seven at night. Actually I didn’t take subway in Philadelphia, we use the uber a lot when we need to go out. It seems to me that it's a nice experience in my life. The year had make me grew up and learn more independent. Even though there were still some difficulty when I were in America, but after you solved it. Then it will be a helpful experience and enrich your life. The difficulty of the language, the difficulty of the different culture, the difficulty of the different climate, and the difficulty of missing your hometown. All of them were the thing that I came through and got used to. Without these experience, I couldn't make myself like who am I now.(258字)

(五)大三出國建議

This is just something that after I knew I’m going to Temple University. And something that you need to know. At the first time, when I knew that I'm going to Temple University. it was so exciting and also felt really nerves. I couldn't wait to started preparing myself so that I could enjoy a life over sea in America. Started from choose a dorm, with my roommate, we decided our living place near the college in only two weeks. All the I-20, passport, and some information of myself was get ready to send. Then when we finally arrived at America, the second thing we had to do was get a phone number so that we can done our third thing without any difficulty. The third thing was get a bank account. We choose the bank that you can see everywhere in America. If you go the Philadelphia by yourself, you need to make some friends local so that you don’t need you go out by yourself. And the Uber in America is really convenient and safe, it will be your best choice of transportation. There is a China Town in Philadelphia, if you need to by some Chinese or some Asian necessary. There was also some dim sum, or tapioca milk tea in China Town. Temple University had their own book store, if you think the price of the textbook is too expensive. Maybe you can buy a second hand book or rent a textbook, both of them are nice choice. (254字)
