In the fall semester, I had chosen “crime and justice system”, “journalism and mass media”, “global cities”, and “world geography”. “Crim and justice system” is one of my favorite courses. Criminology’s teacher is an easy-going and humorous man, just like his teaching class style, every time I feel excited to go to the class. If the total point is 10, I will give this class 10 for sure. In “Journalism and mass media”, I learned how to get the point on a news. We will discuss some news which has issues, and after the midterm exam, we start to write the blogs, it helps us to complete our research paper. “Global cities” has more homework than my other class. This class can help you to enhance your English presentation ability because you will have 2 presentations in this class, but it’s not so hard. “World geography” is super easy! But at first, you have to sign up in a teaching web, and it will cost you $100! So if you don’t cut the class too much, then this class your easy A’s. In the spring semester, I had chosen “principles of sociology”, “club operations of management”, “world religions”, “communication media in American society”, and “introduction of art”. “Principles of sociology” is interested. This professor is Dr. Susan Boser, she likes to discuss with the students. The class’s atmosphere is really good, everyone like this professor. If the weather is good, she will let us go outside to have the lecture. I recommend you to take this class, you won’t regret. In “Club operations of management” you will learn lots of knowledge about how to manage a club, including how many different staffs they have, how to define which type is this club, and many more. This professor is a nice Chinese, he takes care of every student and gives them lots of assistances. In “world religions” you will learn different country’s main religion, such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, etc. “communication media in American society” is not difficult, but you need to learn and remember lots of technical terms. But don’t worry, Mr. Echkaou is not a tough grader. Although your exam grade is not well, you still can use your quiz, homework, and teamwork to enhance your total grade. In “introduction of art”, we learn how to observe and think visual arts, Comprehend how different historical and cultural contexts affect the production of arts and their practices. Ms. Hye-ri is cute, but be careful, if you want to take this course, you really need to study more before the exam! (434字)

(三)生活環境

My dorm is in WallWork Hall, where is convenience. Folger and North Dinning Hall is nearby Wallwork Hall. It just needs 10 minutes to walk to HSS. I like the weather in IUP, no matter in summer or winter. Although there is snowing in winter, but I love it. If you need to buy some clothes, you can go to TJMAXX; if you want to buy some food, Walmart and Martin’s are your best choices. You can take bus 12 to those places. There are McDonald’s, KFC, Pizza Hut etc. I recommend Venice pizza! It is more delicious than Pizza Hut and Dominos. Some people told me that PAPA JOHN is also great, but I didn’t try. There is two Thai food around IUP. One is on Wayne Ave, one is on Philadelphia St. (135字)

(四)自我成長

At first, I was afraid to chat with people, because of my poor English. I even worried that can I have a successful conversation or not. But we still have to discuss in the class, which means I “have to” talk to others no matter what. I’m not that bad as I thought! And I start to make friends with other amazing people because I’m not afraid to speak anymore. I think the bravest thing I have ever done is “travel in New York alone”! I don’t like to be alone, even though eating, see the movies or travel, so I never think I can travel by myself. Although I feel a little fear of travel alone in a strange city, I still excited before I go to NYC. It’s my first step to be more independent. When I was in New York, I met lots of nice people who helped me a lot. It’s also a great opportunity to enhance my English speaking ability. I don’t have many troubles in the USA, my adaptability is good. The only problem except speak to others is that THE FOOD IS TOO HIGH IN CALORIE!!!! They put too much oil in every food include vegetable, so it is hard to have a curvy body……. and some vegetable and food cannot be found in their supermarket, like the bok-choy, mater convolvulus, milk tea and barley tea, etc. We have to go to the Asian market to buy. That makes me miss Taiwan so much. (257字)

(五)大三出國建議

If you want to go somewhere at weekends, you can rent the car on “carshare” app. Pittsburgh and Washington D.C. are good choices because they are not too far for IUP. It costs one hour to Pittsburgh. You can go to the Asian markets, trust me, you will love Asian markets, that is the only place you can buy any food you miss. Pittsburgh’s Asian markets are the closest one. You can also go to the shopping mall or the outlet. If you want to travel to Washington D.C., it just takes two to three hours to there. It is a megacity in the USA, and it has lots of Sightseeing spots, like the United States Capitol, Washington Monument, and Lincoln Memorial, etc. You will like it if you like history. I strongly suggest “DO NOT TAKE GREYHOUND”! Greyhound is an irresponsible and stupid company! Last time I took their bus, and it had delayed almost eight hours! EIGHT HOURS!!!!!! Next time I will take airplanes, no matter I wanna save money or not. (177字)
