(二)課程學習

My favorite course is media because of the teacher Begonia, who is from Spain. She is a really hard-working, patient, powerful, enthusiastic, inspiring, friendly, and attentive person. The issue of course is practical but boring, but she always makes it more interesting in class. She really loves to get along with people, so she chose to be a teacher. Every time we saw her, and she always concerns us. We can feel that is not politeness. It is a real concern from our teacher Begonia. In the class, she taught useful English knowledge; She did not give up every student. If sometimes we distracted on the class, she would ask our condition first to make sure we were okay. Then, she would ask questions to let us catch up the class. If we have more free time in this class, she would let us have more practice. She would provide many different methods to do the same thing. I know it sounds dumb but it let me learned more skills. So I really loved Begonia and this course. I also remembered that one time I required her own time to me after class. I was under pressure at that time, so I complain about my stuff. She did not get angry. On the contrary, she was really focused on what I saying and listened to my problem. Then, she gave me encouragement, confidence, and useful suggestions. She is likely my close friends, or mother not a teacher at IUP.(249字)

(三)生活環境

The Indiana University of Pennsylvanian is much bigger than the Lanyang campus. So if you have earlier class in the morning. You have better wake up earlier because of the dormitory is far from the classroom. And you also need to check your distance and time between class and next class. You probably need to walk five to ten mins to one class. Besides that, the dorm at IUP is really luxurious for me. We have many options to choose what type of rooms we wanted. The best thing is we have our own kitchen and bathroom, and we do not need to share with others. The weather in Indiana is changeable or weird. You can see the four seasons in one day. If you want to get some good food, you should go to the north dining hall to find Kenny's mashed potato. It is really good with the sauce. If you can not get used to eating America's food in the dining hall, you can take the school bus 12 to buy some ingredients at Walmart(it is like our Carrefour). There are also having a Chinese store in Pittsburg. If you want to go to Pittsburg, you need to have a friend who has a car to take you there, take the greyhound bus, or call the Uber. The transportation's fee is higher two or three times than Taiwan, and so is the restaurant. People in Indiana are simple and friendly, so do not worry too much about racial discrimination. (252字)

(四)自我成長

I think the first cultural shock is the costs in United State. The costs in restaurant and transportation are higher two or three time than Taiwan. And sometimes the quality is not quite good. The second is the food are not tasty for Asian. We would cook twice or third times a week to make the Taiwanese flavor. Since the food in dining hall are not our taste. There are lots of cartoon's characters in Time Square. When the con men see you are walking on the street, they would close to you, greet at you, and take a picture with you. After taking picture, they would ask for the money(probably$20 each person). So if someday you were in New York, and see them. Please keep them away. It let me think about some people in Taiwan selling the loving pens. They will make people think they were friendly, and good person. Do not be tricked. Living in IUP could be very interesting or very boring. IUP has some special activities in a week, and we could have fun and make more foreign friends. It also has house party and bar near the IUP. On Thursday and Friday, it has more participants because it is time for relaxing! I will recommend people have different experiences in United State, but please make sure your buddies go this kind of place with you. You can choose what your playing style is. Just do not put yourself in dangerous . Everything will be okay.(251字)

(五)大三出國建議

I think that freshmen and junior students have to prepare the TOEFL or IELTS seriously. You need to have your own schedule which is planning what the next step you are. Don't spend or waste too much time on the clubs because it just one of experience that you go through. I don't mean it's a bad thing that join a club or spend much time on it, but you are supposed to take your stuffs which you have to do seriously. Like studying English seriously and get more credits as much as you can before go oversea. When you are studying aboard, don't be shy and don't afraid of your English problems. Just say it! If your foreign friends can not understand what you saying, just explain more to describe what you saying. It probably let you make more mistakes, but everything will be alright. I think your friends will have patient to listen to you. Just do as much as you can! Failure is the mother of success. Give you a example, last time, I told to my America's friend that I don't have confidence to speak English in front of people even my close friends because I do not like people laughing at me, but my American friend told me that I don't need to worry about it. He said that majority of Americans even can not speak or do not learn second language, so he is proud of me. Otherwise, people in Indiana are really friendly and gentle. The teachers at IUP are really patient and kind. (261字)
