2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

I had been to IUP in Pennsylvania form 17.August.2018 to 11.May.2019. For first semester, I chose 2 undergraduate course and 4 ALI course. The latter semester I chose 4 undergraduate course.(28字)

(二)課程學習

Introduction to Business. For the first 6 week, the teacher will ask us to read a book, big potential, which included many small stories to convey the main concept. For this course content, including economics, Marketing, jurisprudence, and so on. Despite most of concept we had learned in senior high school, this course give us many opportunity to execute our idea. The following example is about the education environment between America and Taiwan. Second, for the America society, they are supposed pose comment in class. therefore, they shared their personal idea in class for each other very often. however, sometimes, we will think their stories have nothing to do with us, or It is useless for this subject. But I think that for the long term, It's better than the classes in Taiwan. It can help student to enhance their memory in class. We take National High School for example, for the first class in every subject, most of teacher will said that ” We have to teach many idea in the whole semester we have to hold our time because we don’t have enough time ”, then, they start to teach their course and give many idea in the limited time. And, this kinds of situation will continue the whole the whole day, from 8:30 a.m. to 17:10, it’s almostly 9 hours. However, in the cram school, we can see most of teacher will shared their personal or other people’s truly experience in class. According to the statistic, it will keep the students to relax, and then keep the concentration for the whole class. It’s very common in America, people shared their experience to each other, so they can relax themselves to have them learn more in class. Third, in America, the status is equal between student and teacher. Teachers teach the subject in class. Students also shared their opinion in class. They can teach and learn at the same time. Therefore, the quality is high in America. In the contrast, in Taiwan, people said that we need to respect, to comply with, to obey the teacher. It sounds very oddly. In the long term, it will make the quality become low. Not to mention the subject is more difficult than America. (372字)

(三)生活環境

Campus: There’re four cafeterias in the campus. Two of them are buffet. There is an bank bureau in campus also. there are many kinds of bus in campus, which is free for students. After going out of the campus, there are streets. Including foreign cafeterias, bank, and so on. It’s very convenient. Dormitory: All the TKU students will lived in the international dormitory. We can choose the room type. It’s 2 to 4 people per room. Every rooms have a bathroom, including shower stall and toilet, 1 flow table ,1 microwave, and 1 refrigerator. Surroundings: IUP campus is located at a small town. It cost 70-90 to Pittsburgh airport from the dormitory. Around the campus, there’re many elder residents. People said that many dwellers had not been to any other country of State, so most people here are very friendly and always look full of energy, don’t like other city in US. Climate: Summer and autumn are the best season here. The temperature is around 15°c to 25°c, and there will be sudden shower during noon and dusk. For winter and spring. The temperature is around -20°c to 10°c. It usually snowed for three months in this period. Daily necessities: There’re many kinds of bus in IUP. It’s free for all the IUP students. We can take bus to the supermarkets, shopping mall, movie theater, and so on. It’s very convenient. Moreover, there will be 1 bus per hour and 24 hours in weekdays. (246字)

(四)自我成長

After one month which we arrived in IUP, we start to miss the food in Taiwan. Therefore, we start to find many restaurants related to china, Thailand, Japan, and so on. Although these kinds of food were not as good as we eat in Taiwan, we are also glad to ate them. People said that US has a technology lead over other country. However, I thought Taiwan has a food culture lead over US. Hence, the best way to solve the problem, adopting the food in US, is that try to find some kinds of food we like, and try to find the advantage of every food. People said that many American used to discriminate the Asia people. During this year, we seldom met this situation, it depended on which city or town we located. Take Indiana PA for example, where is the town IUP located, most of American is enthusiasm here. They are glad to answer our question and help us. For the discrimination, most of American don’t do that, but some of Middle Eastern people they used to discriminate Asia people. When we visited different cities, it will be different situation. The composition of US are many people from different country, so that every city has their own environment, culture, and atmosphere. In US, people identify a person not by their color or some external things, which is different than American. the most important thing is credit. if someone had a bad credit, its’ hard to live comfortable here. (五)大三出國建議

IUP is a good place for a exchange students. Before going to IUP, steam cooker is suggested to bring to IUP. It will provide you to cook many things, especially, cooking rice is very suggested. Most kinds of rice here is very bad. Therefore, cooking rice by ourselves is a good idea. Second, if you have a driving license in Taiwan. I suggested to apply an international driving license. If you have a driving habit in Taiwan, you can drive in US. It will be very convenient to go many places. In US, driving is easier than driving in Taiwan, but every time you rent a car. It’s suggested to buy a insurance at the same time. Third, comparing to other college in America, IUP is a little expensive than other college. Take tuition for example. If we choose class for 12 credit in one semester, it will take more than 14,500 US dollars; if we choose class for 15 credit in one semester, it will take more than 16,000 US dollars. For the dormitory, it will take at least 4,200 US dollars in one semester. It’s very expensive. (186字)
