2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

My exchange school is Temple university which is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. I went to America at August 20 last year. I studied IELP program(Intensive English Language Program) at Temple university. I also studied a courses which is named web designing at third semester.(46字)

(二)課程學習

My favorite course is named "chatting with Americans". While students in this course, they will be assigned to groups. There is at least 1 American and 2 or 3 students each group. Each group has 15 minutes to chat. You can talk everything what you want for example sports, foods, travel ,weather and cultures.I like talk about food and weather with Americans. Compared with Taiwan, food and weather are very different in United States. That is why I usually discuss with other Americans. This course is pretty useful to improve your communication and courage. When my frist time to this course, I was very shy to talk with other people. However, Americans are friendly and nice. Also ,I thought I need to improve my English skills especially pronunciation. Base on that, I need to change myself. Otherwise, I will waste one year in America. I try to talk with other students from other countries like Kuwait , Saudi Arabia , South America. I also meet a lot of people who are from China. I thought they are friendly. I also play computer games with they. Thas's was nice time in America. The class what I recommended is "chatting with Americans". This class is easily to improve your pronunciation and skills of communication. During the chatting, you can ask Americans call attention to you when you use wrong word or wrong pronunciation. They also will provide some suggestion after chatting.It is a nice chance to participate this course. If you studied IELP program at Temple university. You must to try this course. You will get a lot of experience of chatting with foreigners. Sometimes, teachers hold some activities when the festival is coming. Such like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Eastern. Students can join them and experience American local culture.(293字)

(三)生活環境

Temple university is located in Philadelphia. It is an historical city.There are many old churches and building at city hall. The most famous in Philadelphia is "liberty bell". It attracts many tourists to visit it. I lived with classmates who are also from Tamkang university lanyang campus. We lived at a apartment which is named Diamond Green. The rent of this apartment is cheaper than other apartment. The rent is 655 dollars per month(included utility bill and internet bill). However, it has a disadvantage. It is a long way from Diamond Green to our classroom. It cost about 20 minutes. By the way , there is a black ghetto near Diamond Green. Base on that, we need to stay in our room at night. Because there is a little dangerous outside. There is a Chinese restauraunt nearby our campus. It is named "China Star". My friend and I usually went the for our lunch. There is a fast food restaurant-Burger King which is next to China star. There is a very cheap meal named "King meal deal" it cost 3.49 dollars. It included 2 burgers(cheeseburger and chicken buger) , small fries and small drink. By the way, the small size in USA is equal to medium size in Taiwan. The weather in USA is more cold than Taiwan. So the coat and jacket are important when the winter is coming. I also bought a pair of boots for the snowy day so that I can avoid falling in the snow. The ground was very slippery on the snowy day.(256字)

(四)自我成長

The problem that I encountered is language. The native speakers can speak English what is thier native language fast and fluency. However, I am not. It was hard to communicate with native speakers in th begining. After my first time of talk with American, I realize communicate with American is totally different with the knowledge on the book. Native people always speak English " natively ". Base on that, they usually bypass some words. That is why it is diffcult to talk with native black people. They also speak their own word that it doesn't appear on the textbooks. (97字)

(五)大三出國建議

If the economic situation permits, try to go other cites when the vacation. For example New York , Boston and other states like California. The United States is really a big country. Trying to experience differnt cultures. The culture in USA is diversity. There are many people from different countries for example Kuwait(There are many students from Kuwait in IELP program), Japan, Korea and Canda. Don't bring to much clothes and shoes to America. There are a lot of cheap clothes and shoes here. Let's me tell a intresting story. When I went to America, I cost 3000 TWdollars for a box of clothes. However, the box of clothes is not deserved 3000 TWdollars. I should use 3000TWdollars to buy some new cloths in USA.(123字)
