【照片說明:Spanish class】

Spanish class is my favorite class above all of the classes that I have taken in Temple University. The way the professor teaches is very different compared with Taiwanese professors, the professor here doesn't care about the ability of your grammar, but focuses on the fluency of your speaking. Olivia is our professor in Spanish class, she is a new professor in the school at that time, she teaches very well and patiently. She takes care of every student in the class and used some fun ways to encourage every student interaction in the first class so that we can talk to our classmates like we are talking with our close friends. I was a beginner of learning Spanish, so I was extremely nervous at the first class and afraid to speak out with my poor Spanish with my classmates. At the end of the first class, Olivia told me that don't be afraid to speak out no matter it is correct or not, she said that only speaking out can make you improve effectively. Only speaking out can make you quickly assimilate into the environment of speaking Spanish, not only Spanish but also other languages. In this course, there won't be many students, it is a small class. So you'll have plenty of time to talk to your classmates, the professor will give you several topics or articles to let you and your classmates discuss it. Don't forget to make friends in this class because it might be the easiest class to making friends!(255字)

Transportation in Philadelphia is quite convenient and safe. There are subways, trolleys, buses, and trains around the city and Temple, so if you live around the campus, you can go anywhere you want to go, it cost 2.75 bucks for one ride by taking bus or subway. The closest subway station to Temple is called "Cecil B Moore Station" if you want to go to center city, take the subway from "Cecil B Moore station" to "City Hall station". Uber and Lyft are also a good choice to go around the city, you can choose the carpool option or share rides with your friends to save some money. Living in Philly is not so dangerous as long as you stay away from the Northern part of Philly, and don't go out at late night by yourself. There are lots of homeless on the streets in Philly but they are harmless, they won't hurt you. By contrast, you should be aware of some strangers who will strike up a conversation with you and ask you to give them some tips. They will have many reasons to make you feel guilty if you don't give them money. There are several situations that I have encountered during ten months in Philadelphia. First, they will tell you that they need ten bucks to take the bus to the hospital because their daughter just births a baby, they need to go to the hospital immediately. Second, they will say that they need money to take the train to go home. Third, they need some tips to have a phone call, and so on. Facing these situations, you have to pretend that you are not a good person, don't smile or look at them, just walk away as fast as you can. If they keep bother you, you can tell them to stay away from you, otherwise, you will call the police. The weather in Philly is quite similar to Taiwan, both have four distinctive seasons. But Philly is much cold and dry in winter, my nose felt very uncomfortable and my face is super dry, so I Highly recommend people who go to Philly should buy or bring a humidifier. Put it beside your bed or desk, it will help you not feeling so dry in winter. I also recommend that you should put on scarf and fur cap while you go outside cause the wings are extremely strong in Philly. Eating outside is very expensive in Philly, so I usually go to the supermarket or grocery store to buy some food and cook by myself. Three supermarkets I highly recommend, Trader joe's, Whole Food, and The Fresh Grocer, those are the top three of my favorite markets. If anyone also loves to cook, those are good place to go.(464字)

Taking courses in Temple is not an easy thing for me cause everyone treats you as a normal student in college. You have to be highly proactive and not afraid to ask questions in classes or talk to your classmates. Because they won't approach you or talk to you if you keep your mouth shut. At first, it was really hard for me to talk to my classmates because I am a shy person. But after trying to speak with my classmates several times, I get used to talking with them during the lectures. So don't be afraid to speak out, they won't laugh at your English ability or your accent, they will listen to you patiently instead.(118字)

The suggestions for who might go to Temple University are that try to join some clubs in Temple or attend the activities held by Temple, you could make lots of friends and gain many fantastic experiences from the groups and events. Take advantage of the transportation in Philly, it is very convenient compared with other cities in the US. You can also walk to the center city from Temple with only thirty minutes, trust me it is a piece of cake in the US, you will get used to having a lot of walk in the US. And go try some cheesesteak in Philly, it is a mush eat food in Philly. For me, my favorite cheesesteak is Jim's steaks, it is near to the old city. Try it or you will regret that you didn't taste the best cheesesteak in Philadelphia. In addition, stay strong in foreign countries. If you need any help, just contact your advisor or friends or any person you could think of, don't let yourself feel helpless or upset. Everyone is willing to help you if you ask them to.(185字)
