During this year of studying abroad, I learned a lot of new knowledge, and took many courses. Not only learned a lot of English skills, such as Reading and Writing, Oral Communication Skills and Listening, Grammar, but also took some elective class, such as Business English, American Short Stories. For me, the most interesting class that I like is Business English. First of all, the reason why I like Business English class is because teacher is very nice and kind who always smile and respect to students. She always encourages us not to give up. Secondly, we have many group work, presentation, and discussion in class. Therefore, we can learn from each other and improve our ability quickly. Also, we played some games to imitate the marketing trade situation, and analyze how marketing works. Last but not least, I can learn a variety of Business skills in Business English class. I write many business logs, and teachers teach me a lot of new business vocabulary, and make me recognize and use vocabulary related to business. Moreover, I know what is “SWOT” in business plan, “S” is strengths, it describes the positive factors and internal to your company. “W” is weaknesses, weaknesses are negative factors. “O” is opportunities, and “T” is threats. We do some activities and projects to create our own company. Furthermore, teacher teach me how to make a resume to interview the business company, and I practice how to make the manager have a good impression on me, also learn some interview skills. I also learn how does the stock market work, and I use the websites called “How The Market Works” to practice trading stocks with virtual stock exchange. To wrap up, I really like this course. I learned many business skills, and learned a lot really worth valuable.(302字)

(三)生活環境

San Francisco State University is a public university in San Francisco, California. It was built in 1899 and is the oldest public university in California. The main campus is not very big, but it accommodates many students, professors. School built a new gym to provide students to do some exercises. The gym environment is really nice. And there is another campus located in the downtown. The transportation of both of the two campus is very convenient. There is a shopping mall which called Stonestown Galleria next to the school that full of a wide variety of foods and stores, such as Yi Fang Taiwan Fruit Tea, Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks, MARUGAME UDON, Starbucks, Godiva Chocolatier, SEPHORA, Kiehl’s and so on. There are a lot of public transit around the campus, for example, MUNI, shuttle bus and so on. MUNI has a lot of different routes that can take you to many place. Shuttle bus is the school bus which just only take you from the campus to the Daly City Bart station, and it is for free. The weather here in San Francisco is cool and humid throughout the year. However, I live in Daly City during this year. The weather here is not only cool, but also foggy. The place where I live in is also convenient. There is a bus stop in front of my house. And there is an Asian food supermarket which called 99 ranch is very closed to my house just walk for 10 minutes.(248字)

(四)自我成長

This is my first time studying abroad. During this year of studying abroad, I encountered some problems, such as homesick, different culture, and so on. First of all, this is my first time to go to the foreign country for studying English alone for one year without accompanied by family members. When the first day I arrived the United States, I started to miss homeland, and I got homesick a lot. Not only the country which is very strange to me, but also I can’t use my mother tongue to talk to people. In addition, the people who live in America they speak their native language– English fluent and fast. So I can’t understand clearly. Thus, I try to study hard to develop my ability, and to go travel around the U.S. to broaden my horizons. Moreover, I like to make new friends, and join some activities to enrich my life. Also, sometimes I listen to music to overcome my homesick. Secondly, there is totally different culture between Taiwan and the U.S. For example, when I eat in the restaurant in the America, I need to pay tips, whereas in Taiwan, I don’t need to pay any extra money. American don’t eat animals’ viscera, but they like to eat junk foods, such as burger, coca. Furthermore, in Taiwan, when I meet new friends, I just wave my hand, and say hello or hi to them rather than American they give a hug to their friends. Although there are some different ways, there is no right or wrong. The most important thing is to be respect to different cultures. In sum, through this year of studying abroad, I learn how to respect the different cultures, and I overcome the homesick. Also, I have grown a lot.(301字)

(五)大三出國建議

To the students who want to study in San Francisco State University for one year, I suggest that you need to bring coats because the weather in San Francisco is very cool all year round. Also, when you walk on the street, pay attention to what happening around you, and try not to use your cellphone on the street, and walk with other at night. Additionally, don't put anything valuable on the car although you just left for few minutes. Don’t accept anything from the stranger on the street because they will ask you to give them money. Moreover, be an activity student- try to raise your hand to answer questions in class, and be punctual- don’t be late to school, and be brave- try many different things which is helpful for you to develop your potential. Believe you can, work hard and do your best. Enjoy the life of this year in San Francisco.(157字)
