I choose Brandon University for my study abroad. Which located at Manitoba in Canada.(14字)

Professor Srivastava, G. is a nice person and give us proper concern. I felt very glad that I choose his Data Base System during my regular class in the second semester. I’ve took this course in Taiwan but I failed it, data base is a hard course for me then. Fortunately, after I took Dr. G’s data base, I could understand everything. He has been to Taiwan plenty times, and he said he love this country very much. He always make sure that Taiwanese student understand what he was teaching in class. In the last lecture, he gave us cupcake. If there’s a course opened by Richard, I’ll take his course as well, cause I heard from lots of friends, he is humorous and kind to every student and treat every course seriously. Occasionally, I met him in cafeteria. He always say hello to me with his friendly smile. (153字)

(三)生活環境

Brandon is a small town, it is a place for old people enjoying their retired life. So, for young people, it is really a boring place to stay. I live in the resident which is just near by the school, the location is very convenient. I live with a Taiwanese girl, she is my best friend in Canada. We love the weather in Canada, especially during winter time. Snow will accumulate to your waist, if the snow on sidewalk haven’t be shovel, it will be difficult to walk. I can’t stay more than five minutes when it’s -50 outside, it’s too cold that my legs can’t move. But still, we had lots of fun with snow. I bought a car during this year, it’s a Hyundai SUV. We drove this car to many places, this is my first time to drive car on road. The nearest city is Winnipeg, it’s two hours far away from Brandon so we always drive this car to Winnipeg to buy some groceries. One weekend we even drove it to America to give our friends surprise and it took us 32 hours to drove there and drove back to Brandon. After saying goodbye to my friends in America I felt reluctant, cause these friends can easily meet in Taiwan, but it’s difficult to meet in foreign. There’s a mall in Brandon call Shoppers, basically we can buy everything we want there, it’s not a big mall but for us it’s memorable. Tim Hortons is my favorite donut store, I always order maple dip and steeped tea with double cream and double sugar. I strongly recommend it cause you can only buy it in Canada. Riding Mountain National Park is the place we went for BBQ or just for a walk, there’s a lake name Clear Lake. The environment in this park is quite and comfortable. I think it will be more fun there during summer time. It’s just one and half hours far from Brandon. My roommate and I meet a Canadian in Shoppers and he treat us very well. He said he is our Canada grandpa. He likes to invited us for supper, we made meals together and has lots of fun. There’s a backyard behind his house, sometimes train and deer will pass by. We barbecue homemade burger there. We also got free hockey game ticket from him, and we meet Japanese new friend! She’s from Osaka, we ate ice cream together. For us, the most interest part is the fight between players. They’ll be locked in a small room after fight. I went to Yellow Knife with my friends during winter vacation, I stayed there for five days and didn’t see any aurora. We experienced dog sledding, snowmobile, ice fishing, skiing… Yellow Knife is a small town in Canada in the Arctic Circle which is famous for the aurora. You must visit Yellow Knife if you go to Canada, remember to check the information before your trip. (511字)

(四)自我成長

It’s a different experience to study abroad than in Taiwan. Cause you need to solve every problem by yourself. Parents and your close friends are far away in Taiwan. I learned how to face problems when I feel helpless. And it’s glad to have friends. The biggest change on me is my personality, before I went abroad I won’t show my mood when I’m angry. I always act carefully, afraid that I make anyone unhappy. But during the time in Canada, I realized I need to be myself. This is my first time to stay in Canada, everything is new and interesting. I learn how to be along with friends from different culture. You can learn different life experience when you meet different friend.(128字)

(五)大三出國建議

I remember it’s the due day to choose the school where I want to go for abroad. But I can’t decide so I quickly choose Brandon University. Don’t choose a school just because of friend’s words, don’t rely on your friends and classmates. You should make your own decision by yourself cause you’ll worry about you have no friends in foreign. In the truth, you can make new friends and have a new life. I don’t regret this choice but if I had the chance I will make a decision after thinking twice again. Cause the required score of IELS in Brandon is too high to have the regular class for the first semester. So, I got only 6 credits back to Taiwan which is not enough for me. So I recommend you, if you need credits you can choose other schools instead of Brandon University. If you concern about money, I strongly suggest you go there, cause the tuition in Brandon is pretty cheap. You can save money and go travel to other places. And another point, I think having a car you will be happier. It’s long distance to anywhere. On the other hand, got a car means you need to afford more. For example, tickets, gas, parking fee, insurance… So, if you want to have a nice experience abroad, it’s necessary to make a complete plan before you go abroad. (241字)
