COMM Fundamentals of Oral Communication is my favorite class. I learned many thing from this class. Different than many instructor, the professor in this class, is very willing to help the student no matter the question is so basic. This class is teach about how to talk well in the public, in front of people. Student will need to talk about our opinions in the class, and we also get a topic in the first class of the week, then make a speech of that topic in the next two weeks. Every time after we get the topic, we need to write a simple paper about what we gonna talk. Then, we can start to do the outline which we can bring with us when we are presentation. In my first outline, I really don't understand what actually should I did, but I afraid to ask, cuz my classmates looked like they all knew and I looked stupid if I go and ask. Yet, fortunately, the professor asked to check everyone's paper in the next class, and I figure out that I'm not the only one who didn't get the point, only few people got it and the professor did not feel students are stupid, she tried hard to make sure everyone are understood and want to help us. She taught me not only how to speck well, but the trust in myself. Asking questions is normal, and professors are willing to help you. After the encourage the professor gave me, I started to speak more, which also help me improved my English speaking. (264字)

When I left the SFO airport, the weather was sunny but cold, the temperature were 16 or 18 degree. I felt so cold even if I arrived my room, I still wore a lots. After me and my friend settled down, the landlord took us to the BOA bank and left, so we should do everything we needed by ourselves in this unfamiliar city. I knew, my new life was began. We did not have any problem when we were shopping, but the trouble came when we wanted to go back to the house we rent. We walked the wrong way to the another supermarket near to my house, which took us almost 2.5 hours. Then we finally walked back home from that supermarket which took us 15 MINUTES. It's really scared when we lost, but fortunately, the road in america are so straight that we did not walk in wrong position. Before we went to San Francisco State University to have a look, we stayed at home and did nothing for one day to adjust the time difference. San Francisco State University also called SFSU. SFSU is not that kind of huge school, which is different than what I thought. It can only takes you maybe one hour to walk though the school. But the things in the school are beautiful, the library have enough seats for students and the nice view to look out from the french window, the best thing I think, is students can eat food in the library which Taiwan's libraries are never allow. So I spend many times in the library to study or take a short break between the classes. In front of the library is the prairie, many students will sit there and have a picnic or laying on the grass to feel the warm sun when weather is nice. Next to the dormitory district, there have a new gym for students and teachers, it just built for an year. It have swimming pool, hot tub, basketball, volleyball, and badminton court, any machine you can think about, this gym all have it. So I usually go to the gym after I finished the classes. The wonderful gym is one of the reason I go, another reason is, the foods in America are too high calories, I needed to consumes those fat. In SFSU, there is a club called TSA, Taiwanese Student Association. The people inside it, gave me many helps. And most of them are USA residents or long-term students, so they will knew more thing than the freshman to america. By the way, if you don't have a car or need to take the public transaction. SFSU has support a bus system called Muni, which you can have a free ride every time. And also get the discount when take the Bart. These are already including in tuition fee.(474字)

(四)自我成長

The first class I went, is my favorite class, Fundamentals of Oral Communication. I'm the only one who came from Asia and Taiwan, other students seems like they know each other. There was a girl sit next to me, we tried to be a good friend and classmate, but I think I failed. Because what the girl talked about, such like the TV show which is famous in America, I couldn't understand and couldn't discuss with her. So we often talked few words and then stopped talking. Yet, I never gave up about making friend with my classmates! I don't how they think about me, but in every class discussion or group discussion and presentation, I always tried hard to talk. And fortunately, the professor always show the bright side to students which make every students like to encourage and admire each others. Or maybe this is America's culture, praising the person who you think good is not a shame thing and this can give he/she an encouragement. But when it talk about America's culture, the tips is the only thing I couldn't used to it. The restaurant in America is not cheap, but when you need to pay tips for waiter or waitress, that food you ordered will be expensive. Like 4 dollars can become 6 dollars. So I went and asked my American friend about it, and they told me that the waiters and waitresses' salary are depend on the tips we gave.(244字)

(五)大三出國建議

Do not always go out with people who speak Chinese more than English. Meet more different countries people is the best way to improve your English. Remember why you decided to study abroad, play hard and study hard, you will know the education there is so much different than Taiwan, really helpful. (52字)
