Studying in Korea is very different than studying in Taiwan. Korean students are very hard-working and put a lot of effort not only on school projects but also to their daily lives. The professors also give many presentation and assignment to the students. Even though it’s a big pressure to study in Korea, the results of everything that I’ve learned is worthy. My favorite class in my exchange year is Visual Art Theory. This class is very special for me because it’s my personal interest to learn art and music related courses, also, I don’t have the chance to take this kind of courses in Taiwan, so I was very happy when I got the chance to apply for it. What I did in this class is very different from tourism related classes. The main point of other classes is telling me how to raise up the profit as much as I can, or, telling me how to satisfy others or how to be a professional leader. However, what I did a lot in Visual Art Theory class is that I did a lot of thinking about what emotion or anything that can be told in one painting. There isn’t any right or wrong in every student’s answer because the main purpose of this class is to express my own feelings and thoughts. This class is not that easier for me because I don’t have the basic concept about how to paint, but, it’s not that hard for me as well because I still have eyes and brain to think about what I can feel through the artworks. This class is also my first time that all the group members are Korean students. They are so kind for me, and even though their English is not good enough to communicate with full sentences, they still try to chat with me which also makes me looking forward to this class every week!(329字)

(三)生活環境

Living: I don’t live in the school dormitory. I found a place to rent while I was in Taiwan. The reason I choose to live alone is that I want to experience the feeling of living outside the dormitory. I can meet other people outside the campus and also being more independent from dealing with all the problems that might be happened in my daily live. Surroundings: It’s very convenient to live in the area where I’m living now. There are post office, subway, bus stop, supermarket and so on just right in front of my home. I can basically get everything that I need within 5 minutes. Food: Korean food are spicy. I’m a person who can handle spicy food, but the first time I had Korean food was still spicy for me. After three or four times of meals, I was more used to their standard of ‘spicy food’. One other thing is that there aren’t many vegetables in Korea, most of the vegetables are row and are used to eat with meat. So I usually just boil vegetables in my kitchen. The basic price for one meal in Korea is similar to the price in Taipei, but there are more types of food can be found in Taiwan. Weather: The four seasonality here is very clear. You can see sherry blossom in Spring; high temperature in Summer; maple leaves in Fall and snow in Winter. I like cold weather instead of summer days, however, the winter period in Korea is very long and cold, especially for the people like me who grow up in the tropical country.(274字)

(四)自我成長

My college life: I think the hardest task in school is that there are so many students from different country with different background. It’s very easily and unconsciously to compare with others. It’s good to compare with the good sides and make myself a better and more mature person, but comparing too much might lead to negative affects. So it’s very important to find the suitable balance for myself. Another task is I have to do team presentation with Koreans, Americans, Chinese, Indonesians, etc. When communicating with so many people from different country, it usually takes more time and effort. Also, people have different skills and abilities in certain area, so being flexible to do multiple works in a group becomes the most required and important ability. My life outside campus: I think the cultural and food have not that many big differences compare to Taiwan, so I didn’t take too much time to adjust to the daily life. However, my Korean ability is not good enough to communicate in every situation. For example, it took me much time to communicate with my landlord because I haven’t learned the vocabularies related to housing. But once I tried more time, it became easier and familiar for me. During this year, my ability to solve one problem has also been raised up. Especially when travelling to a new city, everything can not be predicted. So what I’ve learned is that just go with the flow and see how to solve the problem depends on the situation. When I have the patience, needs, and desire to solve it, there’s always a way to accomplish(278字)

There are some advices that are the most important ones for me. 1.Be flexible. If you are not the person who are good at planning, then it’s okay not planning for anything. Planning something is just to help you achieve or finish something with efficiency, but there are still some things that you can not predict, so rather than learning how to plan, it’s also better to increase your flexibility or the ability to solve one problem. 2.Having a heart of desiring and curious about something/ new things. It will give you a purpose or a certain target to get out of your comfort zone and learning new perspectives from the things you see, hear and experience. 3.Try to know who you are. When a person is living in a new environment or meeting new people, that person will find out other dimension or personality of himself/herself. For me it’s really fun and interesting to see the development of myself when I’m in a new place or with new people. However, that also means it’s easy to lose yourself and having more problems about identity who you are. So it’s important to truly know yourself and decide what kind of person you want to be. 4.Don’t be afraid of being alone. For me, this is the most essential and important thing to learn for everyone. When you’re in a foreign country, there isn’t always someone you can ask to accompany you to do something. So if you always need one person to go with you, it will limit yourself from experiencing more things. Also, when you are alone, your brain can be more active to think and you will start to observe more from the people around you, the environment you are in, or the little stories happens at the moment.
