2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

During my junior year, I went to Australia to finish my junior aboard program. Currently, I’m studying at William Angliss Institute in Melbourne. I've majored in bachelor of culinary. I took four courses in the first semester, such as Cookery and Recipes, Foundations of Cuisine, and Food and Beverage Knowledge. In these courses, I learned lots of knowledge of service customer and cooking professional skills. In the second semester, I finished the internship in the related tourism industry. (79字)

(二)課程學習

The most enjoyable course I took is cookery and recipe. I appreciate that my lecturer Oliver and chef Krishna help me a lot. Both of them taught me the skills that I may really need in the relevant industry in the future. The chef Krishna taught me different cooking ways and the skills that I had never learn before. in addition, he always mentioned how important the kitchen hygiene is when I was studied on this subject. If we don't store food in a proper way, people may get sick. This course also asks us to participate in the food handlers and Responsible of Service Alcohol course which made me have more opportunities to get a job in the relevant industry. I learned that training is essential to ensure that the staff understands their responsibilities in terms of food handling and service. In addition, we also have many essay assessments have to do. Once in class, my classmate asked Oliver that why should we need to do the essay assessment if we only want to be a chef. I still could remember what Oliver said. He told us, “ If you only want to learn how to cook, you don't need to write the academic assessment, but if you want to be a supervisor even manager one day, you have to know how to describe the food flavor, how to elaborate the way you cook, you have to know how to WRITE.“ Although Oliver is serious in class, I am still glad that he is my teacher. If I have a chance, I really want to have a chance to take his course again. It’s a benefit to my future career. I am happy that I enhanced my skills in different aspects with this course, which made me know what kinds of job I really want to apply. (308字)

(三)生活環境

When I arrived in Melbourne last July, I lived in a suburb with my friends. It’s very cold from June to September in Melbourne. The William Angliss Institute is located in the city, so I have to take a train to the city every day and roughly took me one hour. When I was studied at William Angliss, I really enjoy the course I took. Although we had lots of assessments have to do, there are many resources we can use to finish the assignment in school, such as the library. The school provided the student with lots of assistance. If we have any problem, we can go to the international student center to get the information we need. The complete equipment on the campus is very helpful. In the weekend, I usually hang out with my classmates or my friend. It’s very convenient for living in Melbourne. In the city, we have city free tram zone, which means take a tram is for free in this zone. if I want to go to another place, I can top up the MYKI card, it is very cheap. There are many beautiful sceneries in Australia, I have been to Great Ocean Road before. I saw the 12 apostles. It’s amazing. There are many different people from different countries in Melbourne, I’m glad that I have this opportunity to meet those people. After 4 months I arrived in Melbourne, I moved to the city for my internship. However, the house rent in the city is more expensive that suburb. (259字)

(四)自我成長

When I started to work last December, I met many different situations when I was worked. I can still remember once a time that the customer order some food. Because I’m worked at Chinese restaurant, In Chinese dinner, dishes are served at the middle of table for all to share, but In western dinner, dishes are served in each person's own plate. The customer complaint me when I serve the dish at the middle of table, he considered I have no idea what they ordered. I felt frustrated. But I’m glad that my manager is supportive. She gave me lots of assistance and encourage me. Also, I am glad that my colleagues are nice and kind. They always taught me lots of service skills. After few weeks, I can achieve customer needs. In my workplace, there are many foreign customers. They come from different countries and they have different diet preference. Some people can’t eat pork, or some people are vegetarian. So when I serve the meal, I have to say the name of the meal, make sure they know what they are eating now. Be a good staff, it is responsible to achieve customer needs. When I studied in William Angliss, I spent lots of time to finish my essay assignment, however, I got a terrible grade in my first assignment, I felt very upset and asked my professor why I got such bad result. He told me what I wrote was not make sense and hard to understand. But I really try my best as I could to finish the essay, I keep telling myself, I can’t give up easily, if I give up now, I won’t be any chance to improve myself, so I keep asking for help with the lecturer and classmates, trying to revise my assignment again and again, finally I got pass in these subjects. (五)大三出國建議

It is very lucky that we have a chance to be an exchange student in a foreign country. We have many universities we can choose. Try to think about what you really want to do in the future, which place you really want to go, and which university you can learn most in your college life. Abroad, you have lots of chance to visit any place. Try to go those places as possible as you can, maybe you won’t have a chance to come this country again. In school, you might meet lots of people, make some friend instead of only talk with Chinese. It is a good chance to improve language skills. If you have any problem in your assignment or course, don’t feel shy to ask your teacher or classmates, I believed they all willing to help you. You might meet some people whom have racism, you can’t change their mind but you can avoid to be the same like them. When I’m in Australia, I always tell myself have to respect different cultures from all around the world. Try to not waste this year, you really can learn a lot.(197字)
