2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

During this semester i am being a study abroad student in Emirates Academy in Dubai and i was having one trimester program from September to end of December 2018. Also doing the internship for 6 months. The courses that i was taking are Front office operation, Food and Beverage Business, Basic Arabic and hospitality of Business.(54字)

(二)課程學習

During the study abroad program, I took four course which are Front Office Operation, Basic Arabic, Food and Beverage, and Business of Hospitality. The most favorite course which i took in Emirates Academy is basic Arabic. At the first time i choose this course because it is a totally new language for me and I would like to learn how to use Arabic to communicate with foreigners. Also, Dubai is part of UAE countries so the mainly languages which they are using are Arabic and English. After I taking this course I deeply fall in love in it, it is not only because the lesson is really interesting but also the way how the professor instruct us is helpful and useful. There have three major reasons why I recommend this course. First, the teacher is patience and considerate, she knows it is our first time to get in touch with this new language for most of us. Thus, she is trying her best to explain again and again until we understand. Second, the professor is sharing lots of videos during the class which is about Arabic cultures and their local cuisine then teach us how to sing Arabic songs. Furthermore, she let us having presentation to introduce Arabic artist and give us time to discuss in team work. In order to let the course become more attractive and actively and make us understand in easily way. The last but not the least, I think Arabic is not really a difficult language, maybe u will face some challenge in writing the Arabic words. But It couldn’t be better u can try another language to communicate with local. Overall, I have truly enjoyed this class and everything that I have learned. Thanks to my professor, she always give me lots of support when I facing difficulties and keep encourage me let me can solve all the problems. (316字)

(三)生活環境

Now I am still remember the first day when I came Dubai, I was stunned because of the weather while that time I just came out from airport and I feel I cannot breath it smoothly since the temperature was so hot and sweltering. As for the weather, due to Dubai is subtropical desert, the highest temperature is around 35°C-45°C in April to August. The average temperature ranges from 19.5 °C in January to 36.5 °C in August. It have to say that compare with our Lanyang campus and the Emirates Academy, it is quite similar even the environment and small academy. It is well appointed for the students who are living here, there have a small swimming pool, two restaurants, supermarket and gym surrounding the accommodation. If you are getting tired of eating the same food from restaurant every day, here is some choices for you, they equipped with the kitchen in every single room and you can cook it by yourself or you can call the food delivery further there are some restaurant nearby the academy. In our leisure time and weekend, we usually take the metro and taxi to go anywhere and the prices is not expensive for the public transportation, it only take 5 dirams for one path in metro and bus. If you are hang out with your friends, I will suggest you to go by taxi because it’s more convenience also you can separate the bill with your friends. By the way my favorite place is international city there are some Chinese cafeteria, Chinese markets and Taiwanese drinks shops in china cluster. I find the love and a sense of belonging in there, this place can help me to release the stress and missing from Taiwan. (291字)

(四)自我成長

Due to this is my first time going abroad and studying in a completely strange country for almost one year. Thus, I didn’t have any idea how I packed up the luggage and prepared the stuff which is necessary for me at first. After that I arrive Dubai, the initial and the biggest barrier that I face was “language”, since the population of Dubai is transient and the foreigners are more than local. In addition, everyone have their own accent even they are from different countries, in the beginning it was difficult for me to communicate with them fluency and I was confuse what they said in most of the time. I was tried to be active and opened my mouth talk with them properly then listened carefully by again and again afterwards. Until now this situation seldom happen while I am chatting with my colleague, but the truth is not the problem for English it is only you not get used to their accents then now I am already improve a lot. As I mention above, every foreigners from their countries they have their own accents even background, cultures and beliefs. For me, Ramadan is a very special experience and I am very lucky I can stay in Dubai this time, Ramadan is for Muslim and Islamic culture. Furthermore, there have many rules to restrict Muslims in this month and they only can having food and drinks from after sunset to before sun rise this period. The first meal while they are having after sunset is called Iftar, and they usually break the fasting by dates or water; after iftar they will eat again before sun rise is called “suhoor”. (282字)

(五)大三出國建議

For all juniors, if you already make up your mind and plan which university is suitable for you study abroad and do the internship. Please don’t be hesitate and just go right ahead with no fear because now is a good timing for you to step out from your comfort zone to enrich your experience. First, I strongly suggest you to discuss with your mentor and family that them understand your idea and what is your decision. Second, once you decide your place then start to search the information about Dubai, such as weather, culture, population, laws, attractions…..etc, getting more knowledge before you enter this strange country. Last, I have to tell you honestly the difficulty of course and the way how the professor teach is totally different, get ready of this I believe you will learn a lot during this trimester. Besides, there are some specific Dubai law to protect women and kids, remember the dos and don’ts in your mind and obey correctly. This year is very important for all of you, I think you will encounter a lots of difficulties than before, don’t be frustrated and try to overcome the problem then learning from mistake. This is the way how you grow up, take care yourself, you will studying abroad in few months later so be independent and don’t rely on others is essential. Wish you all the best. (237字)
