2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

I decided to study at University of Queensland which located in Brisbane,Queensland within my junior year.(17字)

The language courses in ICTE (UQ language institute) divided into two areas which are receptive and productive language. The education in Asia are mostly focus on the receptive language. That’s the reason why many students in Taiwan are good at taking English tests instead of using the language into a conversation. Students rarely practice speaking English therefore many of them are lack of confidence. Afraid of speaking English to foreigners is the crucial reason that Taiwanese students can not improve their English progressively. ICTE combines both receptive and productive concept into courses, neither of them are overweight. I have read heaps of academic essay and also got plenty of time having speaking practices with my classmates. UQ also provides great opportunities for students to practice their English skills, For example, they recruit volunteers to guide some freshmen and international students through the campus and introduce them the school. They also hold a lot of events in conjunction with using English, such as cooking lessons, sports lessons, Aussie slang workshops and the every week conversation club which I strongly recommend. My favorite lesson at ICTE was the speaking and listening class. Not like other speaking lesson I have experienced before, ICTE really has done a brilliant job on planning programs. We discuss different topics every week and give a group presentation to classmates. The topics were all very interesting. I remember one class was talking about whether celebrity endorsement is appropriate or not. It is an effective marketing strategy ,on the other hand, if celebrities have negative news it will bring inflections to products. They were essential and related to our life but we seldom have thought about it.(279字)

When I got to Brisbane, it was winter time. It is freezing and the wind blew hard. I think it was the coldest time of the year. Am I really lucky or what? Anyway, I think it was way better than the sizzling weather in Taiwan. I just cannot abide living in the humid climate which you may be sweaty all day. However, which make me surprise is that there were a lot of people still wearing T-shirts and shorts no matter how frosty the temperature was. It is a cozy two-stories house. Although the house is not very big, it was enough for me. My landlord had given me all I need. My place is not very close to the city but there is a bus stop in front of my house therefore it is still very convenient for me to go straight to the campus. In addition, I really couldn’t get use to the Aussie lifestyle. Most of their shop close early. There’s nowhere you can go shopping after five o’clock. And there’s no one walking around in the neighborhood. My neighbors all go to bed before eight. I did not even think about I would be such boring at night. At first I really missed Taiwanese late-night street food. Furthermore, Australian’s working pace is too slow for me, no matter what kind of job. One time I went to bank to ask for some help for my bank account, I had waited for almost two hours. It is unbelievably inefficient. And I have also noticed that the Australian bus drivers will always wait for the passengers to sit down before they drive which I am really appreciate. These are the cultural differences I have discovered. (327字)

(四)自我成長

Actually, I was the student who is afraid of speaking English to foreigners. In other words, junior study abroad is a big challenge for me. However, after having the English lesson at UQ, I found that it was not so hard to talk to a foreigner. Due to the different nationality, students have to force themselves to use English every day. And I have met so many great teachers. They’ve taught me several methods to learn English, those method which are way different from the Taiwanese education. It is easy and unburdened. In addition, they’ve taught me how to write an outstanding academic essay. Writing an article or an essay in academic way properly is the thing I’ve never approach before in Taiwan. The useful writing skill helps me get more familiar to the language. I am glad I chose UQ for study abroad , and I am also glad I have studied language courses. Everything is all brand new to me at first, and everything I had to done by myself. Speaking of do it by myself, I even went on my very first flight trip alone. I traveled to Sydney and Melbourne, explore different city in Australia, experienced varied Aussie lifestyle and tried to find the best authentic Australian food. During the study abroad I discovered that I have the ability to conquer challenges and live in a new environment. Then I realized that I can do many things way better than I thought. Now, I can say that I have the high self-esteem and I will try even hard than before to improve myself.(269字)

(五)大三出國建議

‘Don’t be afraid! ‘ This is what I want to tell you guys the most. Anything could be difficult at the first time, but don’t be afraid to try new stuff. You probably will find your interest during those exploration. Who knows? Either studying or adapting new environment can all be pretty hard and frustrated, but don’t give up! I am sure you will learn a lot while you are solving those problems. And it’s fine if you just study language course. There are still lots of new things to learn. You can know many new friends from different countries and exchange different culture experiences. It’s interesting to know the differences between theirs from yours. Australia is a multi-culture country , I am sure you will have a memorable study abroad experiences here!(136字)
