My favorite course in EAHM is Arabic class. After all, we don’t have many opportunities to learn Arabic in Taiwan, and we also don’t have many chances to meet people from middle east in Taiwan, so Arabic is a very fresh language to me. Besides, our Arabic teacher is so nice and patient. At the beginning, I can’t read the Arabic letters very well, but teacher explained to me slowly, and when I backed to my dormitory, I listen to CD many times and tried to write by myself, and after few weeks, I can read some basic Arabic sentences, and even can write some easy sentences. In Arabic class, we are just learning their language, teacher also took us to local museum to realize their cultures. In the museum I saw the ancient money in middle east, and the weapons in middle east very long time ago, and many others things that related to their culture, it was a really good experience to visit their museum, However, Arabic is not a easy language to learn, it’s pronunciation is not like English or Chinese. Actually, Arabic is very different from English and Chinese. Besides, In Arabic men and women use different vocabularies to convey same thing, so it means that you have to memorize two different vocabularies which have the same meaning at the same time, it is very difficult for beginners. Even though Arabic is not easy to learn, you don’t need to feel frustrated, as long as you have passion and patience on it, you can learn it very well. Moreover, when you meet local people in Dubai, you can try to speak some Arabic to them, they will be very happy, and you will also feel the great sense of the achievement that you can communicate with local people in Arabic. I strongly recommend people who is interested in learning foreign language to take this course, because we don’t have many opportunities to hear and learn Arabic in Taiwan, this is a good chance for you to learn a special foreign language.(351字)

(三)生活環境

EAHM is located nearby Burj Al Arab, and also have a small nearby which is called The Mall, it is about five minutes away from EAHM by walking. Although The Mall is not very big, you still can have your meal on the second floor, or buy some daily needs in the supermarket which located in the first floor of The Mall. Besides, there is a bank located opposite of The Mall, if you want to withdrawal your money, it will be very convenient for you to withdrawal money whenever you need money. EAHM is not a large school, you can walk around the campus by walking, no need bicycle or motorcycle. Although EAHM is not big, it still has a swimming pool and two restaurant, and one coffee shop. I usually go to pool bar restaurant, which is located nearby the pool, the foods in pool bar is not very expensive, sometimes when you have many courses in one day, pool bar might be a good choice for you. As for weather, I have to say the weather in Dubai is very hot, except for winter, roughly from November to March the weather is not so hot. However, I still remember that when I just came to Dubai in September, the temperature outside was very hot, the temperature even came to above 40 degrees, so even you just walked outside for few minutes, it weather can still kept you sweating. Last but not the least, if you like to cook by yourself, you will feel happy to live in EAHM, because we have our own fridge and kitchen in our rooms, and in EAHM everyone has their single room, so it is very convenient for you to everything in your own room.(292字)

(四)自我成長

In my opinion, the foods in UAE are not delicious, so I prefer to cook by myself, but sometimes when I’m busy, I will call food delivery, there have some Korean, Japanese and Chinese restaurant in Dubai, the foods in those restaurants might fit our appetite, because the flavor is more close to Taiwanese foods, compare to those local foods. There also has a Chinese supermarket, which is called Wen Chao supermarket. Wen Chao supermarket is about half hour away from EAHM by taxi, it is not close to EAHM, but you can download App on your mobile phone, and you just order the things you want on the App, and they will deliver to EAHM. As for school, although in Lanyang all the courses are taught in English, there still have some difference between in Taiwan and Dubai. In Dubai, when you do the report, it is so important to have reference, this is very different from Taiwan, in Taiwan we often just copy and paste the information we need. Besides, in Dubai professors will give us some extra reading to help us to get more information about the course. In Taiwan, we are more focusing on our textbook and power point. As for culture conflict, because Dubai is an international city, so Dubai has people from many different countries, so no matter what language do you speak or what is your skin color, it is all not distinguish at all, so I didn’t encounter many culture shock in Dubai. However, there still have something that I difficult to get used to it. First, there have many Indian people in Dubai, they speak English with very strong accent, it is not easy to understand what they are talking about, it really takes time to get used to it. Besides, In Taiwan most of the taxi drivers have GPS, so as long as you tell the taxi drivers where you want to go, normally they can send you to the destination, but in Dubai the situation is totally different from Taiwan, most of the taxi drivers don’t use Google map, so sometimes you have to memorize the road by yourself, otherwise the taxi driver might get lost and waste your money. At beginning I was very shocked with this situation, but now I still get used to it, I try to memorize the road or use my own Google and guide the taxi driver how to go to my destination. (413字)

(五)大三出國建議

I recommend people who is going to study abroad try your best to get more information about your junior year study abroad program, because this is very important for junior year, you have to think twice before your make the decision. I suggest you discuss with your seniors or teachers before you decide your junior year study abroad school. Besides, you have to think about what you want to learn in your junior year, and what kinds of courses do you want to take. If you want to choose the school which needs half year study and half year internship, then you also need to concern about your internship, and also think about which department are you interested in. Moreover, if you choose the school which needs to do internship, I will suggest you get some part time jobs in Taiwan before you work oversea. If you have some working experiences beforehand, you will feel more confident when you work oversea. However, the most important thing is your English ability, when you study abroad, you have to speak English every day, even you just want to order some foods or call a taxi, you have to speak English, so keep practicing English when you are in Taiwan, you can read English books or watch movies with English subtitle, in that way when you study abroad you will feel more easier to handle your courses and discuss presentation with your classmates. Last but not the least, don’t be afraid to try new things when you study abroad, such as make friends from different countries, ski, safari or something which is very difficult to experience in Taiwan. Once you are willing to try news things, you will feel yourself become more mature and start to have different perspective of this world. (300字)
