2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

I choose to study at Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM) in Dubai. For the program of study abroad we can take 5 courses maximum and have an internship for 6 months.(30字)

(二)課程學習

During study abroad program, I took four courses in Emirates Academy, which are Front Office Operations, Housekeeping Operations, English Composition & Rhetoric and Food and Beverage. In my opinion, English Composition & Rhetoric is my favorite course. In the beginning, I considered the reasons why we need to write the short paragraphs every week. However, with this habit, this makes me no stranger to written. Also, because of the short presentations which I compiled that correlated with my articles, I even started to be able to speak clearly to the point and concepts that I wanted to convey. Besides, because of the short presentations, I am now no longer shy about presenting and trying to express my own thoughts. I really love the changes that I have now seen which are also proofing of my growing. I think this will bring me closer to my expectations and dreams. In addition, the referencing class is also one of the most important parts in my progress. Although the concept of referencing is too academic and can be very boring, I feel that I am really grateful and lucky to accept the knowledge that I never got before when I actually learned it and practiced it. The essay teamwork was also a good learning method for me, so I could learn from others the strengths that I don’t have myself. I also learned to understand different ideas and improve my communication skills through group work. Thus, these skills that I learned will be helpful in my future in my dream. Overall, I have truly enjoyed this class and everything that I have learned. The wiring process, oral communication, critical reading, and rhetoric helped my English tremendously. In addition, to my English ability, this class also made me become a better social communicator; what I am taking from this class is a lot of maturity. I feel that these concepts will help me in my career to fulfill my dream and give me a lot of confidence to reaching expectations. As a result, I fully recommend the course to anyone who wants to improve their abilities and say thank you to Ms. Donna for making me become a better person. (365字)

(三)生活環境

Out of my imagine our academy is quite small, it is a little bit kind of Lanyang campus. We usually take uber, bus and metro to anywhere, the good transport here and fares are not too much expensive. As long as we want to go out to relax, Mall of Emirates, Dubai Downtown area, and JBR area are all the choices which the people can shop there and have a good meal, pay the bill or watch movies in the mall. Besides, the most popular 7-star hotel which called Burj Al Arab and some Jumeirah properties which lovely hotels and restaurants are opposite to the school. Not to mention the public security, due to strict laws of the government, the security of the place is totally safe and good, especially some specific laws for protecting women. For example, women have own seats on metro and bus and men are not allowed to enter. Next, I would like to mention about our accommodation environment on campus, each student has their own room that included bathroom, kitchen, own desk and bed. Everyone can see the Burj Al Arab or different kind of view through the windows. In my opinion, it is very useful for me to have the kitchen in our own room that there is a convenient Chinese supermarket APP which we can buy Chinese food, drinks, and daily supplies. As For the weather, the temperature is proximately about 35-45 degree in summer period, it is extremely hot. Opposite to the summer, the weather in winter is kind like nice and more comfortable than in summer.(265字)

(四)自我成長

For me, when I first came to Dubai, overcoming language barriers was our biggest problem. In Dubai, there are many people come from different countries and that is also why we need to be familiar with different accents that we have known before. Therefore, in the beginning we had to use many kind of methods to communicate with those people. After try again and again, get more and more opportunities to open the mouth to talk to others, and I can find that I can understand what they are talking about. I think this is a very good improvement for me. Besides, Dubai is not a opening country like Western countries, they have their own policy, temple, and their own rules. To me, Ramadan is a very different experience for me in Dubai which Muslim people cannot eat anything and even water until sunset they will start having their Iftar which is their fist meal in the day and having Suhoor in the early morning before they fasting. Otherwise, Ramadan is an important month in Dubai. All the shops, restaurants will change their business hours, menu, and the rules which like non-Muslim people cannot either eat or drink in the public area. And I also try my best to fasting once to understand more knowledge about Muslim people that it was quite hard for me to eat and drink until sunset. Different countries have their own cultural, their own accents, and also their own style of cuisine. Be respect and learn more knowledge that avoid something happens and be impolite to people.(262字)

(五)大三出國建議

To all juniors, please make sure and keep in mind what you want to choose Dubai for your decision in your third year of university. Honestly, it is a very good opportunity to study abroad in foreign country and also get the internship that you will make a big improvement in this year. You will not only learn about product knowledge from the courses, but also experience in the hospitality industry. Besides, Dubai is a foreign country and the teaching style, the courses are quite different from what we seen in Taiwan. Be the class on time, be concentrated on the class without using personal mobile and laptop, and also submit the task you need to do are all basis. There is no excuse for you to explain for sure. Since the moment you plan to study abroad, you need to take the responsibility for yourself, take good care of yourself, and then make yourself to grow up. Set your own challenges and try your best to achieve. Prepare more information before entering into Dubai which it is an amazing place that you have never touched before. Make sure that you will learn a lot from here, not just only on product knowledge, the things you do it here (like you choose for do the internship) will be helpful in your future career. Also, it is very thankful that you will broaden your horizons. "Play hard and study hard." In your spare time, hanging out to explore new places is one part of journey. In your third year of university, you will be hard. However, after you finish your year in Dubai, it will be a beautiful and special memories in your own mind. Hope you all the best.(289字)

(六)其他

I completed my bucket list to have a desert safari, experiencing the dune bashing, camel riding, Arabic style buffet, and belly dance performance. Besides, we also can try the local art- Henna hand painting. We also visited the most beautiful mosque in the world - Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, to understand how majestic and elegant is it at the same time.(64字)
