2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

Junior study aboard started at 18th July 2018 in William Angliss Insitute, which located in Melbourne Australia. Foundamental lectures and food and beverage practices at the first semester, and need to apply any job in hospitality related industries ourselves. (38字)

(二)課程學習

Food and beverage operation is one of my favorite class during the first semester, comparing to other courses, this is the most helpful and practical for us to enter the industry, because we do not have any working experiences in Australia. This course taught us many fine dinning knowledges and serving skills. And we also learned a lot useful knowledges and practical skills about food and beverages, for example, we learned how to make coffee, cocktails, and some others certificates. And the most interesting thing for me is to make coffee, it is pretty easy to learn but take a lot of time and patient to master it. Because the quantity of coffe and the temperature of milk are hard to learn and control, and that’s why coffee will taste slightly different form different barista. This course took place in Angliss Restautant which are totally available for any customers from outside the campus to dine in. It gave us a lot pressures sometimes, but it also force us to grow and learn from the actual reactions from customers, it is the fastest way to learn and absorb. And that’s is one of the reason why I can fit in nicely in Novotel’s restaurant, there are only benefit for us to learn under pressures so never complain and keep pushing yourselves until you have complete and become the best of the best. (三)生活環境

William Angliss Institute located ten minutes away from the central of Melbourne city, it has got three restaurants which also allow people from outside the campus to come and enjoy our services and cuisines, the prices are not much different from any restaurants around the campus but the quality is better so I think it’s worthy to come to our bistro or restaurants. There is a tram station right in front of our campus, it only takes three minutes to get to central Melbourne. And there is also a train station which is just three minutes walk away. So it is really convenient to travel to anywhere from our campus. And our library also the a huge variety of resources, from scanning paper to loaning any textbooks or movies, everything are easy to borrow all you need to do is scan you student identification. The other thing i like about our school is that we have many free online courses and certification, even after class lectures are available as long as you make a booking. The weather in Melbourne is basically sunny and dry, but the temperature drop very quickly, some people say that Melbourne can experiences four seasons in one day, wehich is pretty cool for a newbie like me. But compare to the humid weather in Taiwan, I personally prefer the weather in Australia more. Also my apartment is just thirty second away from our school which is a big benefit for someone always lazy to get up in the morning, and the other great thing is that we have free tram zone in the city so I can save up a lot transportation fees. Therefore, living in this apartment is like a heaven for me.(289字)

(四)自我成長

Base on my experiences of studying high school in America, it does not have any big issues for me on learning in different language or living in a total different environment. And the assessments are easier compare to other universities, sometime I even feel like those assignments are unnecessary. I think that teachers should be tougher, because some students know that they will pass the course even when they skip the class. Maybe its because teachers think that we are foreign students or we are exchanging for one year so they lower the standard for us, but I think that this is something will make students fallen and become lazier. There is one thing that actually shocked me whe I first arrived Melbourne, its that there are at least half of the populations are Chinese in the city, so Melbourne is called “the second China” by many people. And because of that, most of the store have a special staff who only speak Mandarin to customers, which makes Melbourne a city its not suitable for learning English. (177字)

(五)大三出國建議

Jackets and coates are a most, because no matter what season is it, when it come to night it will definitely be freezing cold. And some basic thing need to be notice is that always pay attention in the class and take notes, because teachers speaks really fast, have some accents and there are many important massages in details. Teachers are all very kind and nice, they never refuse to help you with anything related to the course at anytime. But you still need to keep up your grade yourself, because there is no one who can save you when you don’t have enough score to pass the course, and there is one very important thing is that if you failed too many courses during the first semester you will not be able to take placement for the next semester, so be very carful and take cautions on your due days. For second semester’s placement, you need to be prepared to show your employers your intention of getting the postitions, you need to get yourself ready and involve in all kinds of activities and work experiences. I recommend that live in the city from the beginning, because it is easier to get a part time job when you have classes. Second reason to live in the city is that it might be closer to your workplace, its will be convenient for the employers to call you in at anytime. Although, Melbourne has many different people from different countries and have different background. Sometimes you don’t even need to speak English, but in order to improve your English speaking skill, you need to speak out and don’t be afraid to make any funny mistakes, because no one speaks perfect English. Be confident and learn from your mistakes.(300字)

(六)其他

When we first arrived in Melbourne, we were living in a townhouse which needs to take trains for one and the half hours to the city. It is really inconvenient, but its also a very unforgettable experiences for us, because not many people would live this far away from the city. Melbourne is a city that is neutral friendly to animals, there are many wild animals will come visit us Turing day or night, it was cute and relaxing. But after we moved to the city, we also experienced the convenients city brought us, and that’s the start for me to become a couch potato. During this year I’ve gained and lost for many things, we had some serious fights and arguments, but I learn from those mistakes and become a man who knows more about relationships. I have fallen in love with this fabulous city, not only because there are many gorgeous girls, the beautiful scenery and the peaceful culture, and also the fantastic salary. During this year i have also met a lot of people and become good friends with some of them, they become the most valuable memories in my life and will never be forgotten. One year is really a short period of time, I haven’t have enough time to become good friends with this city or get used to the beautiful views. I will definitely stay in this wonderful city if there is any chances to, but yet, i will put a pause in my journey of Australia, it is not an end, it is just a break, I will be back soon. (271字)
