2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

I studied in California State University Long Beach. This school is located in Southern California and there is one beautiful and clean beach around there. Because I am international student, I have only 12 units one semester. I chose some courses which are related to my major and the requirement of graduation. The others are really interesting to me. Also, I traveled to many places during this year including San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York and Seattle. The people and scenery are nice and wonderful. The United States is really a great place to live and study. I'll come back there in the future.(103字)

(二)課程學習

My favorite class is Japanese class. The reason why I chose this class is that there are more and more Japanese tourists visiting Taiwan and many companies or tourism industries need someone who is good at Japanese or can communicate with customers in Japanese. For example, some restaurants and airlines in Taiwan require their staffs and flight attendants can understand some easy Japanese conversation or listening. So, being good at Japanese is an useful skill in my career life. The Japanese teacher is very interesting and nice. She used many wonderful materials to make class easy and useful. For example, she used not only the textbook to teach us the grammar or usage of Japanese but some pictures and videos to make us understand more about Japanese culture. There are only 20 people in the class, and we were divided into small groups to practice the conversation and listening. Due to the small groups, we can practice speaking Japanese over and over again. If there were mistakes, we can correct the answers and discuss with each other immediately. Our Japanese ability improved quickly by doing this. Besides, our teacher would let us talk to classmates about what we did in weekends or our own hobbit in Japanese, too. We'll talk a lot to classmates and we can make new friends in this class. So, I knew a lot of friends and this class became more interesting and fun than I thought before. She also arranged the schedule for us which includes time of exams and the range of assignment and studying. So, we can review and do the assignment step by step and more easily. We studied Japanese without pressure and difficulties. The atmosphere in this class is pretty relaxed and fun. All of us had a great time during this class. Most of my classmates are American, but they are really nice to me and we sometimes hanged out or studied together. They are also passionate on studying Japanese, and let me have more power to practice Japanese. All in all, I love this class so much because of my teacher and classmates. They let Japanese course become easier and more joyful. This class is not just a normal class. There were a lot of joy and courage in this class.(381字)

(三)生活環境

I rented an apartment which is nearby CSULB with my friends. There is a bus stop in front of my house and it usually took about ten to fifteen minutes to my school. There are also some stores around my apartment such as restaurant, pharmacy and supermarkets. It is convenient to buy food and daily necessities for us. There are many different bus routes provided to those who don't have cars. So, that area is pretty great and safe. The whole campus contains several areas including dorms, cafeteria, classrooms and some fun places where students can take a break and play some games there. It is a huge campus for me. It took me much time to walk from one side to another side. The classrooms and facilities in this campus are new and perfect. Students can use new computers to search information or finish their assignment. The photocopy system is efficient. We can get our copies immediately and the procedure is easy. The library provides not only books and information students need when studying or doing assignment but clean and great study areas which let students discuss and review the class together. The weather in LA is dry and sunny. It seldom rains. Sunny days are throughout the year. The sun is bright and weather is very comfortable. I think it is more comfortable than in Taiwan. It is hot but not too scorching. There are many different types of restaurants in LA. If I missed Asian cuisines, I have many choices. These Asian restaurants are similar to the local flavor. They are really awesome. As I knew, it is difficult to find Chinese restaurants or other Asian dishes in some states or people need to drive far to arrive Asian restaurants. As for traffic, there are a lot of car in LA. The highway is usually crowded, so you need to be careful when driving because you may crash the front cars if don't attention to the traffic. People in LA are really more passionate than people in East Coast. They would greet you energetically, and sometimes they talk a lot to you when you order your meal or buying something. I love this kind of mode between people. In conclusion, living in LA is great and convenient because there are many places and foods we can try. I also love people in LA.(396字)

(四)自我成長

My primary difficulty was fearing to talk to people. Actually I am not a great-talking person no matter where I am. Sometimes I am shy in new environment or meeting new people. So, I talked few to people at the beginning. Also, I was afraid that the American can't understand what I said or my English speaking is not fluent. However, I knew it is impossible that I didn't talk to my classmates and teachers all the time. Therefore, in order to overcome this problem, I tried to talk to my classmates no matter how bad my English speaking was. Also, I would focus on how they described one thing and I remembered that. I would know how to say next time. After doing these, I gradually didn't fear talking to other people. Although we have accent when speaking English, my friends didn't care about that. They would help me if I didn't know how to express my ideas. Because of that, my fear gradually disappeared in my mind. Furthermore, I thought my English listening is not good at the beginning. I also fear that I can't understand what instructors talked about in classes. So, I started to watch many English videos without Chinese subtitle to practice my listening, and listening carefully what instructors said in classes. I found that it is not too difficult because I would be used to the speed they talked unconsciously. In fact, my listening ability was improved in the United States. Finally, I think we can not fear to change, or we would stay in the same place like that if I was not willing to learn and practice my speaking and listening, I would encounter more difficulties during this year. I would miss many chances to learn. This is not what we want when studying abroad. (303字)

(五)大三出國建議

My suggestion is that work hard and play hard. Studying abroad is a chance in a lifetime for us because we can study and travel together during this year. We basically don't have too much pressure on our academic. It doesn't mean that we don't need to study. We still have to be responsible for our own academic but we don't have many courses and assignment. We can make good advantage of the resources in the campus. They will help us a lot during this year. Also, trying to go everywhere to experience different scenery, culture and food in foreign countries. It can help us to broaden our horizon and make us different from someone who doesn't go out in the future. Take the United States for example, people and their accent are different in every state. People in West Coast are more kind and passionate, but who in East Coast are indifference and they talk more quickly. So, don't waste time when living in a special and different country. Don't forget the study when traveling and enjoying the life there, too. "Word hard, play hard" is really important for us. Some people don't care about their units or assignment but I have to say that if you miss some assignment in your class, you would not pass that course because many instructors care assignment they give us very much. They think handing in assignment on time is kind of sincerity. It means that you put efforts on your assignment and course. Therefore, when enjoying the life abroad, don't forget to keep studying. The environment and resources in foreign university are really more complete and perfect than university in Taiwan, so cherishing everything and the short life abroad in this year.(291字)
