(一)基本資料

I chose University of Warsaw, Poland as my junior aboard exchange. First semester started at the beginning of October, end at mid of January; second semester was introduced at mid of Feburary and mid June would be the final. Poland is Geographically regarded as Central Europe by official, not Eastern Europe, Krakow was the first capital of Poland until 1596, shifted to Warsaw. (62字)

(二)課程學習

I've had many courses during this year, there are two courses that I felt interested in, one is Polish Language Courses A1. Have I ever thought I learned a European language? Yes, of course, but definitely not Polish. European languages are another language system to me as a Taiwanese, hence, I always made lots of fun in class because of my pronunciation, I remembered there was one time professor asked me to put my finger below my tongue to make the sound of "ur", but really fast, which I did, but a total mess, I felt embarrassing when the whole class poked fun at my act. This level of language was for the beginner, first class was taught the pronunciation of alphabets then gradually to words, grammers and conversation. The hardest part was after we understood quite number of words, professor would use pure Polish instead of English to teach, she said it would help us learn Polish rapidly, which it did, after few lessons, I was quite used to this speed and sometimes I would be pair with other classmates to practice Polish, it was quite funny that both of us struggled with the word that didn't even know how to pronunce then made fun of each other. Another course that I'd recommend is Audiovisual Culture and Media in the United States by American Studies Centre. During this course, professor introduced an overview of major media forms then explained what message that this artist wanna to present in the viedo or images; and what a story can be tell via a picture; necessity of media presence. My major is International Tourism of Management, and alwasy wanna choose something different but fascinating course to me, this course gave me the new experience of my knowledge, I'd never thought media could be so complicated and twisted by personal interpretation.(308字)

(三)生活環境

I rent an apartment with my companion at the city centre, right next to Taipei Representative Office in Poland, two asian restaurants, one Kebab restaurant(Kebab King); this place features abundant living requirements and convenient traffic routes, three to five minutes to metro station(Rondo ONZ) or eight minutes to another line of metro(świętokrzyska). Tram(sort of overground metro) only has three to five minutes distance. Central Railway Station is also few blocks away from my apartment and shopping mall(Złote Tarasy) is right above the railway station, there is everthing indside this shopping mall, including supermarket(carrefour). If you have limited budget during junior aboard, Poland is definitely one of the best choice, price level is quite low than I thought, some stuffs are even cheaper than Taiwan; however, Warsaw has a great distance to sea, seafoods can be regarded as precious protein, price is ridiculously high and not even fresh at all, so, if you have seafoods addiction, you probably have to wait. University of Warsaw has serveral campus within Warsaw, my courses were mostly concentrated at main campus, which was located in Old Town of Warsaw, also, Polish language course was at the main campus; however, when it came to the second semester, I chose the course from Faculty of Management and American Studies Centre, these two department were at the thirty minutes away from main campus. There are few dormitories scattering around in Warsaw, the biggest advantage of living in dormitory is highly affordable rental compares with mine, but we have four people exchanged to Warsaw this year, none of us selecting dormitory only because it was very far from main campus and city centre. Weather in Poland is quite nice though, except for the differences of temperature between daytime and night. It definitely would snow at winter, I meant, a lot, I would doubt whether I wanted going out sometimes. How to prepare clothes in winter? You have to had at least one waterproof coat, one beanie and one pair of gloves as necessity, others will be optional. The coldest weather in Warsaw I had was -15℃, the average temperature this winter was quite high, between -2℃ to -10℃,accroding to my senior sister who've been to University of Warsaw last year, 2017-2018, last year was a total frozen world. The weather would become warmer after Easter, and even hotter after May. (400字)

(四)自我成長

Language barrier could be the most frustrated encounter, Poland is not hugely touristic as we think, English is not the common language of everyone, and there are people who don't speak English at all, that was even worse to me, I'm not saying everybody should've understood English, it supposed to be me to learn their language after all, but it made me feel disconnected with where I were then, but Polish people were pretty warm-hearted, I was gotten fool by their facial looking cause they were always put a shitty face on the surface, it would hard to tell whether they took me seriously or not. Actrually they were exceptionally loving and wild if I really got to know them. Another one, I'd not say a difficulty, it was more like growing situation, I took things will be done by my parents as granted in the past time, and now I finally taste the bitterness of all, it was not just questioning about what I wanted to eat at this meal, but how did I make this dish? Although cooking is not a problem for me, thinking what to have and how to cook was quite bothering me, also, going to supermarket to buy the supplements was especially challenging, first, I surely would buy enought quantities to support next few days, but I had to know how to distribute them so my stocks could be enough to hang until next time I go to replenish. Of course, this was not the only situation I met, tuition, banking stuff etc. were all by myself, they altogether were phenomenal. With all the task I've been through this entire year was very crazy, but I kept telling myself I have to be strong enough to conquer, there is one straight up example really affects me deeply, me and my roommate had extreme unsatisfactory relation after I noticed he didn't behave actively at the task we both were dealing with, he wouldn't do anything if I didn't tell him to, and it would always be me to start the conversation, and I were fed up with his crappy attitude. The point of this incident taught me I had to be strong not to rely on anyone, I could only count on myself and choose roommate wisely, can't pick one just base on your instinct that he is your friend. But I have appreciation to my roommate, not only let me see how awful a person could be and empowered me stronger and more independent than I've never imagine. (424字)

(五)大三出國建議

There are some advices that I thought could share to you, these information is not only for those who wanna choose University of Warsaw, Poland as junior aboard program, but for all. First of all, slecting is primary and hence you have to choose the one that is the most suitable for you. Ammusing you love travelling instead of studying, so you want a superb gap year, Poland(where I am now) is without a doubt a considerable choice owing to geographic location nears to Germany, Eastern Europe and Baltic area. Secondly, do it yourself. Don't cling to your parents or chargé d'affaires, it's not that hard to rent an apartment, get a VISA etc., just do them systematically, I'm sure you'll be benefit a lot by dealing these. Speaking of that, if you choose the university in Europe, please have patience with the well-known poor efficiency of near everything, the most nameable of my experience was contacting with my coordinator of university, her working hours were limited and frequently having days off, therefore, I usually got the email reply after I had already sent a week ago. Third, to be bold to try new things, everthing will totally be new to you, you have to find the way to adapt and make them into your life, but be noticed, don't try to step out your own comfort zone, expand it. Finally, Be grateful, have appreciation to those who have helped you along the way, especially give your parents a big snug cause they are the biggest contribution of your journey.(261字)

(六)其他

Budget travelling: One of the best thing choosing Poland as junior aboard is I could have opportunity travelling many European countries in person without spending lots of expenses; few the most iconic trip would be Finland, Iceland, Switzerland, Turkey, Italy and Israel. Touring around Europe was always my dream since I was little, and I did it this year. Getting my family to Europe for the first ever: Owing to this junior aboard, I stayed in Europe for long period so my parents could make headaway to Europe for the first time, and I was being told that I had to plan the entire itinerary because I'm more familier than my parents, it made me very stressed at that time but super exhilarating.
