My favorite course is no doubt the beginners’ Arabic. This course unlike the other courses here, we do not need to write a lot of essays or study many different chapters of the course every week. The only thing we need to do is attend the class and enjoy! Our teacher, Mrs. Christane, is a very interesting and nice person. She always had a warm smile on face when teaching us. Besides, she used different kinds of methods to help us remember Arabic words without giving us too much pressure. In addition, we not only learn Arabic in class but also experience the Arabic culture out of the campus. Teacher Christane took us to the Arabic history museum and experienced Arabic cuisine as well. She let us use what she taught in the class to order our food in Arabic in the restaurant. The waiter were all very surprised when we spoke in Arabic even though we could only use some basic phrases. She encouraged us to learn and to actually take action in real life. This is the reason why I love this course and why I like this teacher. Another course I like is English Composition and Rhetoric, the teacher is Mrs. Donna. She is not only the teacher but also a counselor in the campus. Anything that makes you feel unhappy or stressful and you need somebody to talk to, then speak with Ms. Donna is your best option. At the end of this course, we were separated into several groups to conduct a debate competition. It was just a small competition to practice our English and improve our confidence. I am proud of myself when finished this debate. It seemed to be a good ending to end this course and even end this semester. (298字)

(三)生活環境

Our dorm is one of the best things during this year. First of all, Emirates Academy provides free Wi-Fi for us so let we do not have to worry about the Internet. Due to the law of Dubai, we are not able to use any kinds of application like Line or We Chat to call, but in school, we can still call to the family because of the Wi-Fi. Furthermore, everyone lives alone in the room, which means we have our own space and privacy. In the room, there is a kitchen so that I can cook by myself . There is also a bathroom that I do not have to share with others. It is like the second home for me. On the first day we arrived our room, they even provide amenities like shampoo, and some welcome fruits. There are also some facilities in our campus. A swimming pool and a gym which is good enough for the students. In addition, if you feel hungry there is a mini supermarket called mini mart in the school, and is open until midnight. It is very convenient to order food through different kinds of applications in Dubai. Lots of cuisines I can choose. Out of campus, we usually go to the Carrefour in the mall of Emirates to buy food and it is easy to go there. You can either catch a taxi or take the bus. Sometimes the taxi is cheaper than the bus if four people share the price together. There is also a public beach near the school, and the world famous hotel, Burj Al Arab which is opposite our school. Another place nearby that I visit very often is Madinat souk. There are many restaurants in Madinat souk. It is a place that I can relax and enjoy with friends, especially during the period of doing the internship. In conclude, the location of our school is acceptable, and I am satisfied since our school already provide a good environment and many facilities to fulfill our needs. (339字)

(四)自我成長

This year really change me a lot, I was forced to stand out of my comfort zone, learning how to deal with so many things without my parents around, who take care of me most of the times. In the first three months, I spent almost every day at school learning or going out with friends. The only challenge at that time was English. I need to get used to not only the environment surrounded by English but also the accents from different countries since Dubai is an international city. I can not even understand the Indian taxi driver at first. Therefore, I was lack of confidence to speak English. After living in the English environment for three months, I gain lots of confident to express myself in English. For the following months, I start to do the internship in Burj Al Arab. It is an unforgettable experience to work in such a luxurious and well-known hotel. Despite the fact that I experienced a hard time during the first couples of weeks, I still appreciate this chance that let me learn a lot. In my position, I meet and deal with all kinds of people, moreover, I have to stand for almost 9 hours with the heel which made me feel uncomfortable in the first week. Until now, my social skill improves apparently and I become more confident speaking in English with guests. It is a great opportunity to practice my listening skill and express ability because it is not easy to speak with a demanding guest. We have to be careful about the words we use and the way we would like to pass to the guests. I become more independent as well. All in all, this year I grow a lot and no regret choosing Dubai during this year as my study abroad country.(305字)

(五)大三出國建議

In my opinion, cherish the time while still being a student at the Emirates Academy. Attend the class on time and learn as much as you can. It will help a lot during the internship even in the future. Additionally, time management is extremely important since you will have to do many essays and exams. It is a lot different from college in Taiwan. As a consequence, allocate your time properly so that you have time to prepare and be ready for the exam and essay at any time. As for the internship, no matter how hard and difficult, take it as a special experience to learn. You will not have a second chance like this in Taiwan. Think positive is one of the reasons that keep me moving. (129字)
