(二)課程學習

My favorite course in ICHM is Food and Beverage Standards. I learned a lot of knowledge from this course. For example, we have wine class which taught us the knowledge of different wines and how to make cocktails. It is so cool because we worked in a bar and tried to make different drinks. In coffee class, we learned how to make a cup of coffee. Teacher taught us how to make Espresso, Flat White, Coffee Latte and so on. Making a good coffee is really hard, but we still have lots of fun. We tried to make all kinds of coffee and when we made one, teacher would taste it and gave us comments that is really helpful because we can know which step we did wrong. In this course, we also have a lot of internships which are really cool and useful. We worked in Convention Centre which is a really huge restaurant like a huge ballroom in Taiwan and the restaurants in our campus for 11 times. We serviced real customers who pay the meals. It is really useful because we know how a real restaurant runs its business during our internship. Being a waiter is really busy. Busy Busy and tired. However, we also learned much and finished many things that we thought we could not do in the beginning and I feel really good because hard work is not in vain. My teacher is also wonderful. He has sense of humor. He is really friendly and has lots of working experience. Therefore, he always helps us to deal with every problems that we meet in our internship and teaches us how to do is the best way to deal with the problem. I really like him and want to say thank you to him. These are the reasons why I like this course so much and I never think regret. (314字)

(三)生活環境

I live in campus. The place is not big, but my dorm is nice. There are four people live in an apartment. In the apartment, there are four rooms, one living room and a small dining room. Therefore, everyone has their own bedroom. Sometime we discuss homework in the living room and it is convenient because my dorm is really close to my classrooms. It only takes me 10 minutes to go to the classrooms from my dorm. The other benefit is my Australasian friends live across to my room, so sometimes I go to their rooms and we watch movies and chat together. It is really cool. The weather in Adelaide is quite dry, so sometimes I feel my throat is hurt because it is too dry. I would put a cup of water on my table. It makes me feel better. In Australia, there are many good moisturizers that they protect people’s skins from peeling and they are not expensive which is really good to a poor student like me. There is a shopping street called ‘Rundle Mall’. I need to take a bus to go there. All the stores are in that street, so I can buy all the things there. Food in Australia is diversity. There are Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Vietnam restaurants. However, there isn’t any Taiwanese restaurant in Adelaide. Therefore, my friends and I really miss food in Taiwan. By the way, food in the cafeteria is not good. We have same meals almost every day which is really bad and boring. Therefore, sometimes, my friends and I go out to eat.(269字)

(四)自我成長

I think making friend is the most important thing when studying abroad. Because when you have any problems, your friends will give you a hand. For example, I have some Australian, Japanese and New Zealand friends. They teach me many things. Some are their habits, the other are about homework. You can also have different thinking about one thing after making friend and this can also reduce cultural shock. For example, before I came to Australia, I never drunk beers and wines. I think they were not good and I was a little bit afraid of them. However, after I came here and made some Australian friends, because they all really love wines and beers, I tried some wines when I be with them. Therefore, now I think that drinking wines and beers every day in Australian culture is very normal . I even go to buy some beers sometimes and I also have an interest in bars. I think making friend especially local people is really good because you will learn a lot from them and they will also take you everywhere and have fun. Then you will know the culture deeper and you will not have culture shock. Asking questions can also help you when meeting problems. Aussies are nice and they like people to ask questions. They do not mind people asking questions, but they hate people say ‘yes’ but they actually do not know the thing. Therefore, asking questions is important. It can help you save time and avoid some cultural conflict.(255字)

(五)大三出國建議

There are some suggestions. First, I think before going to another country, searching some information about the school and the culture is important because you will feel nervous and worried when going to an unfamiliar country. Doing some preparation can help you relax and have some confidence. Second, making friends and trying to know new people is important, too. It is hard but if you try, you can leave your comfort zone and have many beautiful memories. Third, do not do bad or exaggerate things. Because if you do, everyone knows that, he or she just doesn’t want to talk about you in your face, but it doesn’t mean he or she doesn’t know the things. Do the things that are correct and good, or people will belittle you. Taking responsible for what you do. Fourth, traveling to another cites or countries is necessary. Because you will stay in the country for one year, visiting another places can let you broaden your horizons. Different places have different things. Even they are in the same countries, different cities have different stores and views. It is quite interesting when you travel. The last one, taking good care of your body. Seeing a doctor in Australia is very expensive. Therefore, if we just get cold, we go to buy medicine in market and we wouldn’t go to see a doctor. Because a pack of medicine is maybe 20 AU dollar; however, seeing a doctor is probably 100 AU dollar. A student cannot afford the cost unless you are rich. (258字)

(六)其他

The most special experience in Australia is having an internship in five star hotel. I work in The star Casino Hotel in Gold Coast for six months. I worked in housekeeping department. When I started to work, I deeply realized how hard to earn money. Every time after working, my whole body feels sore and my legs are hurt. Even if I don’t like working, I still feel satisfied because I earn money by myself .I have not taken any money from my parents since I started to work. I learned how to take care of myself since I came to Australia. It is a wonderful and unforgettable year in my life.(113字)
