2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

I choose Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management as my decision of my study abroad program from September 2018 until September 2019. It was located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We studied about 4 months in school. I had a few lessons. For instance, Arabic and operation of reservation system. After these few months, we need to go for a six months internship. we can choose the hotel that we want to go and i picked Rosewood in Abu Dhabi. (76字)

(二)課程學習

If you ask me which course do like the most in EAHM, I will definitely answer by English Writing class. The teacher is nice, classmates are friendly also the activities are interesting. However, the most important is, what I learn in this course. I had to say, I was force to choose this class at the very first beginning since I really need credit in this trimester. Everything changed after I started my class. The content of this class was not that boring and meaningless. In addition, I did learn many new things. First of all, it was learning about the structure of an essay. In the past when teacher asked us to wrote an essay, I just wrote whatever I wanted to write and never cared about the structure. Now I realized an essay was actually separated into few parts like hook or conclusion. Then, it was about the reference. I was asked to do some reports or research in Taiwan when I was studding in senior high school or even university. I searched some information on the internet, in newspaper or books in the library. However, I never do the reference at that time. The reason is simple. I don’t even know what this is. I felt I was lucky because I got a chance to have a lesson like this. Otherwise I might never know how to do a reference probably. Third, which was the huge part in the class, the expression. Teacher gave us chances to practice and trying to share our ideas of some specific topic she assigned. It was a great challenge to me at first since I rarely had chances to do a short presentation like that in the past. In addition, when we were divided into few groups to have a discussion with foreign people, it was a little bit hard for me to express my idea to them at first. However, I could do this better through many times of practices. To be honest, I never expect to learn so much since I was here for only credits at the very first beginning. After all these lessons I learnt, I changed my mind. All the time I spent in the class was worthwhile. I will regret that I join this class. (381字)

(三)生活環境

If you are going to ask me how was everything in school, I will tell you that one of the best part in the school was the dorm. Everyone live alone, which you can always have you own space without any fight with roommates. By the way, if you are lucky enough to get a room in a right angle, you can see Burj Al Arab all day just through the window in you room. Amazing! In addition, there is something that I really like about the school. It is the internet. Because of the policy, it is blocked all the time when you want to make any call through internet. However, it is always available in school. If you don’t want to go to mall to have dinner, there is also a local restaurant around school. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes’ walk. Maybe the food is not that perfect as a fine dining restaurant, still, I will recommend it to my friends. The reason is simple. I eat a lot, I can spend only 50 AED to fill my stomach. Isn’t it awesome? As for the transportation, there are buses and metro. Not even mentioned the taxis and Uber. If you want to take the bus, you will have to walk under the crazy sun for about 10 minutes to the stop. Therefore, I usually take the taxi. It is not that expensive to share with friends. In terms of the metro, there is something really important to mention. That is, they set some specific coach for children and women. If you walk in there without notice that, you will get fine. In general, the school environment and the area around will not disappoint you. (286字)

(四)自我成長

To be honest, anything happen in this year can be a huge challenge to me. This is the first time I live outside alone for a long time. Because of that, I start to realize why some of my friend said I am like a baby sometime. For example, if I need to solve some problems I encounter, I will definitely start to look for help from my mom. And if I feel hungry, I can always find someone to cook for me in my family. However, since I start my life in Dubai. Everything changed. I need to go to government department to get the police clearance by myself. When I feel hungry, I need to cook for myself although most of the time I take order from Talabat. For the situation that above mentioned, there are not the most difficult challenge. What I face during the period of internship are the hugest. I did have some argument with Rosewood. And I tried to speak with them and solve by myself. However, it never works even I tried to talk to HR. Therefore, as what I used to do, I speak to my dad. And he answered what he used to answer, ‘’ No one can always stand by your side and fix all the issues for you.’’ Same response but totally different understanding and realization to me. At the moment I start to know it is the time for me to really grow up and learn to be more independent than I used to be. (256字)

(五)大三出國建議

Well…to be honest, I am not going to deny that having one-year study abroad program is going to be an excellent experience. However, you will need to determine your mind since it is not an easy thing. You need to jump out from your comfort zone and tried to survive in a place that you are not familiar. My mind was totally crushed at the beginning especially when I start the internship. Idea of giving up and go back to Taiwan even come up in my mind. After few months of adjustment, I start to get used to it. In the school. I learned how to manage my time better. I learned how to express my own opinion to people without let them feel offensive. During the internship in Rosewood. I learned how to solve the problem from guests nicely and smoothly especially when they are in a bad mood. Also, I learned how to present myself perfectly and let people feel the confidence form your face. To sum up in one sentence, as long as you can overcome the hard time, you will definitely learn a lot. (189字)
