2018大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

I had been studing at Indiana university of Pennsylvania from 2018 to 2019, which is located in Indiana, Pennsylvania. My major is hospitality. (21字)

(二)課程學習

To me, I have been into American learning environment, there are three reasons to explain. First of all, students can always feel free to ask professors any kinds of questions, and professors would try to answer as the best as they can, that is why we can learn extra knowledges, which are valuable and interesting because these are not mentioned in the books, and then make the real interaction between professor and students. In addition, most of students’ attitude influenced me to involve in more, they are willing to study actively all the time, and it is none of professors business. It is impressive that some of students are not only clever, but also diligent, moreover, also good at expressing themselves at the class, then I realized that they have been training to think and talk since they started going to school, I think these are what we should live up to as well. Lastly, the way about the professors are teaching, they won’t let students feel extremely stress out but we still learn a lot during the class. The professors are absolutely kind, they love sharing experiences, always encourage us, teach us very hard, and give us study guide, never test out of that scope. As the result, as long as you make an effort, nobody would fail, that makes me feel a sense of achievement, and want to keep studying. I appreciated those professors very much!(239字)

(三)生活環境

When I stepped in the United State, I couldn’t believe how wide it was at the first sight. Base on my observation, there is a huge distinction between city and country. If you ask me which one I prefer? I would say both because there is different beauty ether in city or country, and lifestyle is totally different as well. For instance, IUP is located in Indiana, Pennsylvania. There is a quite peaceful, and beautiful county, count as a classic countryside. Although there seems like a town of nowhere, and it is truly not crowed, I still had a blast because of those people I met and the comfortable environment. Most people are absolutely warm, they always smile, being kind, also very funny. Moreover, school provides bus, which runs every hour every day, thus, it is convenient to purchase necessary goods. There are some of Chinese and Thai restaurant around dormitory, which are good to eat if you miss hometown. As well as experiencing their culture, my family drove me to their home to dining and attend their church activities. I looked around the green hill, the undeveloped area through the window in the car, they even have cows and horses at outside of the house. Everything was fresh, giving me a sense of American movie that was blew my mind. On the other side, I also went to some of cities to experience the city life. I have been to New York, Orlando, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Quebec, Chicago, and Washington DC. Different cities were giving me different impressions. There were endless buildings, streets, and numerous places you can explore. I have always been amazed by their own special characters and cultures in every city. The other point is worthy to mention is food, I have tried different kinds of American local food, some of them were more delicious than I thought, and I highly recommend trying everything you see because that is called immerse yourself in other cultures, you will never know how amazing it is!(338字)

(四)自我成長

At the beginning, I found out how important to be proactive, instead of being passive. I started set up the plans for getting the job done with time arrangement. I have gained my precious experiences this year, it made me grow up to be more mature, independent, and self-control. When you come to a place alone, you have to deal with stuffs on your own, sometimes endure loneliness, and language barrier at the beginning. As time marches on, I was getting to adapt to live at the place you are not familiar with. Once, I made a breakthrough for myself. During the thanksgiving break, that was the very first time I took a trip to Chicago on my own, I still remember that I sleepover on a train, woke up by the stunning sunrise. Safety always comes first so I was especially sensitive, I needed to care about everything's around me, but there were tons of advantages as well, I sensed fabulous feelings which differ from hanging out with friends while walking on the street, tried to talk to strangers and then make friends, realized that I could be more confident than before. The bottom line is that I have understood that how cool to be yourself after I looked around the whole university although it is tough to truly be like that, at least it is a role model I can look up to, and then make a step further to become an ideal me, which is in my mind.(251字)

(五)大三出國建議

From my point of view, there are four things are significant. First thing first, enhancing language ability, particularly training your speaking and listening every single day, for example, slangs, apart from those certification lessons. Next, be prepared that it is brutal but also true, it is expensive to study in the US. Therefore, think about your funding resource before coming to the US. Besides, adjusting your attitude, there is no way to goof off because we actually had loads of assignments, quizes, reports, and exams during a smemster, we would study almost everyday in order to get A. There is a well saying, work hard, and play hard, it is real in the US. By the way, IUP offers various subjects and courses for students to choose so that you can take not only the required courses, but also the related ones, even what you are interested in. Last but not least, be open-minded to embrace all the differences, try to do something you used to be afraid of, get social, and then enjoy. Ready to broad your horizon, have a wonderful year!(183字)
