(一)基本資料

The college that I went to is California State University, Long Beach. Starts from August 2019 to May 2020. Studied the courses of computer science.(23字)

(二)課程學習

The course that I liked the most is Beginning Web Design taught by Roni Allen. The class is very fun and I believe it is very useful for anyone although you are not a computer science major student. The class is mainly taught us about the basic of a web page and how to build one in a very simple way. The professor will start with a page that shows just simple words only. Gradually, we follow the step on the textbook, upload some pictures, having some style on the words. Then, we will learn how to manage the page that we want, having a side bar that let the user navigate to different web page. In addition, making some text box so that we can let the user to receive a form from user. In the last few weeks of the course, we are required to do a project that we have to make and design a web page on our own. This is so exciting. Because this time we are in control the content of our page. It means that it can be about the topic we like. I like the professor of this class. Because she is a very nice person. I like the way she make the lecture. I can clearly understand the course she taught. And also have some humor during the class. In addition, when we are submitting our work to her, we will did something wrong on our work. If you have difficult on it. The professor will still find what is wrong with your work file very patiently. In this course, I learned about how a web page was built from zero to a big page that we could see online. Most people may see the beautiful page and nice effect on the screen. But may not know that there are hundred lines of code behind the page. (316字)

(三)生活環境

In this period of time, I live with my aunt and uncle and also their three- year- old child. They live in Torrance City, which is thirty minutes drive from there to my school. I have to drive to school every day. Because of the special weather of California. There are barely a chance to have clouds in the sky, so whenever the time I drive, there must be strong sun light in sight. In the campus, I would say it is very worth for exploring. Students can lay on the grass to study or just take a nap. This is so different from Taiwan, which we are usually told not to step on grass. The food court in campus is not bad, there is also a Chinese restaurant called Panda Express. If you don't like the food in the campus, it may helps you a little bit. The store in campus has lots of souvenir of Cal State Long Beach. They are nice stationery with the sign of the university. I bought a mini Go Beach sign, which was the landmark of the school. It was really cute and worth to have one. The main transportation tool for student are bus or car. The school also provide free school bus that go around the campus, so it is easier to move in the campus, but most people prefer to have a skateboard. Last but not least, the student union, it has lots of entertaining equipment like pool ball, bowling, etc. I can say this is a wonderful place for students.(261字)

(四)自我成長

Since the beginning of school, I have to listen to orthodox English every day. The difference is that the teacher can’t explain it in Chinese again, so I have to take notes and keep up with the professor. In addition, communication with classmates is indispensable, so you have to learn to speak English. Therefore, taking notes would become very important. I have to use the beginning few weeks to adapt the life of being a student there, so my progress won't delay. Another thing is dare to ask questions. You will find the student in US asking questions more frequently than students in Taiwan. So there are nothing to be afraid. About the different culture in the US. I believe everyone would thought about the tip culture. Whenever having a meal in a restaurant, the guest are required to pay tips for the waiter or waitress. It is considered impolite if someone didn't do so. So, every time our family finished a meal, we will calculate for the tip. However, the way to do it is pretty complicating. Sometimes we need to consider for the tax rate, which is different from city to city. Moreover, the population structure in Los Angeles is special. It contains lots of different race of people. So, we can easily found all kind of food from different culture, which is also a good news for study abroad student. That means we may taste foods similar to our hometown. But I think I adapted very soon after a month.(254字)

(五)大三出國建議

For those who are going to studied abroad in the future. I would like to give some advice base on my experience. Do not stick in side your room. The purpose of studying abroad is to let you explore the thing outside of our country. So do not waste time inside your room. No matter you are a formal course or language course, you need to join the club or you use the gym in the campus.Since the beginning of school, I have to listen to orthodox English every day. The difference is that the teacher can’t explain it in Chinese again, so I have to take notes and keep up with the professor. In addition, communication with classmates is indispensable, so you have to learn to speak English. At the beginning of this year, just before the beginning of 2020, the new outbreak of pneumonia in China was out of control in a short period of time. The school urgently ordered the suspension of all face-to-face teaching. My good time there was interrupted, and the residents were ordered not to go out. , And close non-essential entertainment venues, all restaurants are restricted to take-out; I used to hear that in order to grasp the things around me, I had a deep understanding of this sentence in this epidemic, and never thought about the original Some daily life will be forced to change; in the past, after the course, I was able to go home and go to the department store to hang around; every weekend before, we would stay with our cousin to drive out and hang around; the original plan I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain again with my classmates to conquer the first ride without time to challenge; it was completely disrupted in mid-March. Taking advantage of youth to grasp youth, this sentence I never thought it was so important, but this is also the biggest impact of my trip studying abroad this time.(328字)
