(一)基本資料

During the study abroad period, I went to the International College of Hotel Management in Adelaide on 12th July 2019. The courses I took were Food and Beverage Service Standards (BBHM102)-Basic knowledge of Food and Beverage, Delivering Guest Services Practicum (BBHM103)- 8 practices of serving guests plus 2 times of experiences in Adelaide Convention Centre, Room Division Service Standards (BBHM104)- Getting in touch with the Housekeeping department, and Employability Skills for Future Hoteliers (BBHM109)- How to be a successful hotelier in the future.(84字)

(二)課程學習

During my half-year of study abroad in ICHM, I enjoyed Delivering Guest Services Practicum (BBHM103) the most. From this course, we will not only get the WSET Level 1 certificate but also have 8 times of training experiences in Tiros and Graduates Restaurant and 2 times of working experiences in the Adelaide Convention Centre. There are three reasons why I enjoy this course. First, from the training and working experiences, I applied what I had learned from the lesson. For example, during the 8 times of training experiences, everyone had a chance to handle different positions such as barista, host, ground staff, and so on. We serve the guests with the sequences and the skills. We showed our three plates carry skills and coffee making skills. We tried our best to present the knowledge into practice. Second, in addition to the skills which showed our professionalism, how to make good use of teamwork is important in this course. As we worked with our classmates, we had to make sure that everyone got their duties and worked toward the same goal. For instance, we separated the section to try our best to fulfill the needs of each customer. If we noticed that others need a hand, we would help each other initiatively. Furthermore, having good communication skills is one of the key elements to build up good teamwork. In this course, we have to communicate with each other to make sure the service went smoothly and all of the orders were correct. Third, during the experiences, I found out that service does not only show the professional skills but also work with others, there are still lots of things I have to pay attention to. For example, we had to arrive at the restaurant earlier to make sure all of the things were set properly. For me, I would go to check all the ingredients on the whiteboard. This would help me to answer the question from the customers. When the guests order the meal, I would confirm again which just in case they could get their own dish. In conclusion, this course really brings a lot of fun. We can not only apply whatever we have learned but also help us to get in touch with our industry placement. 在ICHM出國學習的半年中，我最享受Delivering Guest Services Practicum（BBHM103）。通過本課程，我們不僅將獲得WSET 1級證書，而且還將在Tiros和畢業生餐廳獲得8倍的培訓經驗，並在阿德萊德會議中心擁有2倍的工作經驗。我喜歡這門課程的原因有三個。首先，從培訓和工作經驗中，我運用了從課程中學到的知識。例如，在8次培訓經歷中，每個人都有機會處理不同的職位，例如咖啡師，主持人，地勤人員等。我們為客人提供順序和技巧。我們展示了三個盤子的攜帶技巧和咖啡製作技巧。我們盡力將知識介紹給實踐。其次，除了展現我們專業水平的技能外，在本課程中，如何善用團隊合作也很重要。與同學一起工作時，我們必須確保每個人都履行職責並朝著同一目標努力。例如，我們將各部分分開，以盡最大努力滿足每個客戶的需求。如果我們發現其他人需要幫助，我們將互相幫助。此外，具有良好的溝通能力是建立良好團隊合作的關鍵要素之一。在此過程中，我們必須相互溝通以確保服務順利進行並且所有訂單均正確無誤。第三，在體驗中，我發現服務不僅顯示了專業技能，而且還與他人一起工作，我還有很多事情要注意。例如，我們必須提早到達餐廳，以確保所有東西都設置正確。對我來說，我要檢查白板上的所有成分。這將幫助我回答客戶的問題。當客人點餐時，我會再確認一次，以防萬一他們可以自己弄盤子。總之，本課程確實帶來了很多樂趣。我們不僅可以運用所學知識，還可以幫助我們與行業定位保持聯繫(383字)

(三)生活環境

In Adelaide, the season is totally opposite than in Taiwan. The coldest temperature can down to 2 Celsius and the hottest temperature can up to 40 Celsius. It is important to prepare the lotion and lip balm to keep the moisture because the humidity is quite dry. Outside of the dormitory, there are some stores such as the Asian market, clinic, bakery, and Vietnamese Restaurant. There is also a bus station near the campus which is convenient to take the bus to the center. There is also a park and gym near the campus. Students who study at ICHM are highly recommended to live in their dormitory. It only takes us 5 minutes’ walk from our dorm to classrooms. The school also asks us to wear a suit to go to class every day. In the dorm, they have four rooms, a recreation area and a small kitchen which are not allowed to cook by ourselves. Therefore, they provide meals every day. The time to have the meal is different between weekdays and weekends. They postpone mealtime because they think students might wake up late on the weekend which is really thoughtful. In the dining hall, in spite of the restaurant, they set the mailbox, computer room, copy machines, recreation room with table tennis and piano. Students can easily receive their letters or parcel by checking the mailbox. Students can also entertain with each other in their spare time. We also can borrow board games from reception to play with friends as well. 在阿德萊德，季節與台灣完全相反。最冷的溫度可以降至2攝氏度，最熱的溫度可以高達40攝氏度。重要的是準備乳液和潤唇膏以保持水分，因為濕度非常乾燥。宿舍外有一些商店，例如亞洲市場，診所，麵包店和越南餐廳。校園附近還有一個公交車站，可方便將公交車送到市中心。校園附近還有一個公園和健身房。強烈建議在ICHM學習的學生住在他們的宿舍。從宿舍到教室僅需步行5分鐘。學校還要求我們每天穿西裝去上課。在宿舍裡，他們有四個房間，一個休閒區和一個小廚房，不允許自己做飯。因此，他們每天提供飯菜。週一至週五的晚餐時間有所不同。他們推遲進餐時間是因為他們認為學生可能會在周末晚些時候醒來，這真的很周到。在餐廳，儘管有餐廳，他們仍然設置了信箱，計算機室，影印機，帶乒乓球和鋼琴的娛樂室。通過檢查郵箱，學生可以輕鬆地收到他們的信件或包裹。學生還可以在業餘時間互相娛樂。我們也可以從接待處借棋盤遊戲來和朋友一起玩。(251字)

(四)自我成長

Not only for the courses but the culture are totally different than in Taiwan. For the classes, most of the lecturers prefer the group discussion on the class. They like to ask students to build up a group to discuss a topic and share the information which we have on the stage. This makes the student have to use brainstorming to share the idea and organize the information they have. They also pay highly attention to the copy write. They ask students to add the references at the end of the assignments and cite the author and the published year in the content. For the culture and living style, most of the stores are closed around 5 p.m. Most Australian are value their family time. They will finish their business earlier to enjoy their family time or leisure time. Therefore, except for the restaurants, it is not easy to find a shopping center or a store which is opened after 5 p.m. For transportation, most Australian will drive their car to go everywhere. The motorcycle there is not as many as in Taiwan. Most of the students will choose to take the bus to go out. The buses will not remind the passengers when the bus stop is coming. We have to pay attention to it by ourselves or use the digital location to know when we have to get off the bus. Most of the local people like to taste wine. Having a glass of wine with their meal is common sense in their daily life. For international students, it is hard for us to recognize the brand of the wine as we are seldom having wine with the meal. This type of culture also interests me and wants to know more about their wine culture. 不僅在課程上，而且文化與台灣完全不同。對於課堂，大多數講師都喜歡在課堂上進行小組討論。他們喜歡讓學生組成一個小組來討論一個話題，並分享我們在舞台上所擁有的信息。這使學生不得不集思廣益來分享想法並組織他們擁有的信息。他們也非常注意複製寫操作。他們要求學生在作業末尾添加參考文獻，並在內容中引用作者和出版年份。為了文化和生活方式，大多數商店都在下午5點左右關門。大多數澳大利亞人都很珍惜他們的家庭時間。他們會更早地完成生意，享受家庭時光或休閒時光。因此，除了餐廳之外，要找到一家下午5點以後開業的購物中心或商店並不容易。為了運輸，大多數澳大利亞人會開車到任何地方。那裡的摩托車不如台灣多。大多數學生會選擇乘公共汽車外出。公交車站來臨時，公交車不會提醒乘客。我們必須自己注意它，或者使用數字位置來知道什麼時候我們必須下車。大多數當地人喜歡品嚐葡萄酒。吃飯時喝一杯酒是他們日常生活中的常識。對於國際學生來說，我們很難識別葡萄酒的品牌，因為我們很少隨餐一起喝葡萄酒。這種文化對我也很感興趣，並且想更多地了解他們的葡萄酒文化。(297字)

(五)大三出國建議

For the students who plan to study in Australia, I suggest bring more pens because the pens there are more expensive than in Taiwan. Do not bring too many clothes because there are lots of clothes stores you can visit. They also have a discount for Black Friday and Boxing Day which is a great time to buy what you want. As the weather there is different than in Taiwan, it is important to bring some medicine from Taiwan because the fee for going to the doctor is really expensive. For the courses, do not hesitate to ask any questions in the class if you do not understand it. All the lecturers there are nice and willing to help us to solve our questions. If you are missing home or there is some mental problem that makes you feel upset, you can make an appointment with the school counselor who is willing to help you and talk to you. Trying to close to the local students is the best way to know more about the culture. you can hang out with them or having a barbecue at the beach. Because we are exchange students who do not take the courses as many as the local students, we have more time to explore this country. You can take the bus to explore the amazing scenic spots such as Gorge Wildlife Park, Hahndorf, and Beerenbefrg. After the midterm exam, you will have a midterm break for about one week. It is a good time to plan the trip to other cities. 對於打算在澳大利亞學習的學生，我建議帶更多筆，因為那裡的筆比台灣貴。不要帶太多衣服，因為您可以參觀很多服裝店。他們也有黑色星期五和拳擊的折扣，這是購買您想要的東西的好時機。由於那裡的天氣不同於台灣，因此從台灣帶些藥很重要，因為去看醫生的費用確實很昂貴。對於課程，如果您不理解，請隨時在班上提問。那裡的所有講師都很友好，樂意幫助我們解決問題。如果您不在家，或者有一些心理問題使您感到不高興，您可以與願意幫助您並與您交談的學校輔導員約會。嘗試與當地學生保持親密關係是了解這種文化的最好方法。您可以和他們一起出去玩或者在沙灘上燒烤。由於我們是交換生，他們的課程沒有當地學生那麼多，因此我們有更多時間來探索這個國家。您可以乘公共汽車探索令人驚嘆的風景名勝，例如Gorge Wildlife Park, Hahndorf, and Beerenbefrg。期中考試結束後，您將有大約一個星期的期中休息時間。現在是計劃前往其他城市的旅程的好時機。(265字)
