2019大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

In the study abroad year, I decided to go to University of Queensland. It is a world famous school located in Brisbane, Australia. I started my journey at 12/7/2019 and came back at 29/3/2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. I studied four courses in my only semester, Event Operation Management, Strategic Event Management, Management and Marketing of Sport and Physical Activities and Sociology of Sport.(63字)

(二)課程學習

My favorite class in the semester is Sociology of Sport. There were some educational differences really impressed me which influenced me in a positive way and gave me a new vision on learning. In this class, every week we were learning different theories in sociology of sport and every theme we will talk about its related issues. The professor will invite different professors whose major research is connected to the week topic to give us lecture. The classes were always an open discussion, the professors encourage students to ask question in any kind, and brought up opinions from various angles for the students to discuss. The class enhanced my critical thinking and the presentation on my thoughts, I felt more comfortable on express myself to others. Moreover, through having conversation with classmates from different countries, I realized different opinions influenced by different culture and life experience which broaden my horizon. In additional, I had a class about sport marketing, the class required students to finish an internship or volunteer in sport industry of Australia, and combine the experience with the course content, turn it into a complete analysis report about the sport organization. I joined a Paralympic football program through my professor’s suggestion. I had a fantastic time during the activity and knew friends from different universities. This not only provided me an opportunity to experience local sport activities, observe how they operate a sport activity fluently and sustainably, but promoted my skill of conclusion through the report, making an industrial extension about the organization under the recent circumstance. Finally, the rigorous and conscientious attitude that the professor and my supervisor showed on their works really impressed me. They really care about the details in every small part and willing to point out mistakes in order to push my idea into a better result. (305字)

(三)生活環境

Brisbane is a beautiful city in Australia, the weather is dry and warm here, I believe it is really suitable for living. The atmosphere presented from this city is really relaxing and energetic, there are parks and gardens along the riverside for the citizens having outdoor activities, the people are kind and outgoing who always hanging smiles on their face. The city has a slow-paced life style; it is quite comfortable having a walk in the city after a period of study or exploring different areas of the city in the weekend. My student apartment located in the heart of the Brisbane city, it is close to the city center which the infrastructures are complete and fully developed. My room is a little bit expensive, however, there is a bus station and a train station next to the apartment, which I can arrive at school in 10 minutes, also there are supermarket and cafes nearby, which the life function of the area is satisfying. University of Queensland is one of the best and famous school in the world. It has a really big campus that student needs app of school map on the phone for direction or people will get lost easily. The school facilities are in good qualities; students can find a variety of academic resource in the libraries and having sport activities after class in the gym and numerous ball courts. Moreover, every week the school will hold activities in different themes which gives the students opportunities to interact with others and know more about local culture. (258字)

(四)自我成長

The difficulties I had to conquer in Australia can be separate into two main parts, adaptation on academic requirement and different lifestyle. I had quite a hard time on my study, though the number of the courses I study in UQ were way lesser than I had in Taiwan, but the work load from the study was much heavier. Professors tended to require students spend more time on self-study and self-reflection, unlike we spend more time in listening lecture in Lanyang campus. Thus, I will have tons of reading materials from every class’s homework as the review and the preview for the lecture. I had to put more effort on my readings and assignment due to my English capacity was not as well as the native speakers. Nevertheless, the professors are kind and generous, they are willing to help me on my learning and giving me advice no matter it was about study or personal problems. On the other hand, this is actually my first time study abroad for such a long time, which I was not used to communicate with foreign people. Communicate with others using second language was a great challenge for me who is a person feeling not so confident on myself. However, I tried to overcome my fear of interacting with people and stepped out my comfort zone. I joined various kinds of volunteer which I had a really great time meeting different people there and experiencing well-held activities. These new attempt not only nourished my daily life, but inspired me on my future planning. (260字)

(五)大三出國建議

I believe study abroad is a fresh and inspirable experience in every aspect. The only suggestion I can give to my juniors is trying their best on discovery. Discover the destination where can give you stimulation and inspiration, interact with different people, doing things you never did before or you will never do in your home country. Besides, Australia is a country organized by multiple kinds of race, the situation of racial bias or discrimination happens in low frequency, at least I didn’t encounter the problem so far during my stay. Thus, it is a great opportunity to freely explore this country without pressure.(105字)
