2019大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

The university I choose to study during junior abroad was Maria Curie-Skłodowska University which is located in Lublin, the largest city in the east of Poland. UMCS has 11 faculties, over 80 programmes offer teach in polish and english. Due to COVID-19, I was just study for one semester from October 2019 to February 2020, the faculty i major in was earth sciences and spatial management, basically the courses I took was about tourism like cultural tourism, extreme event in tourism and so on.(81字)

(二)課程學習

Earth science and spatial management faculty is not close to our dormitory, we had to walk about 15 to 20 minutes to get there, at first we were not used to walk so far to school because it’s so different from Lanyang campus also sometimes the bad weather would make us felt the way was much more long. Most of the courses I took were about tourism, it’s not hard for me because the content of classes was basic for freshman or sophomore but the teaching style and accent really did a problem for us to understand and get used to it. Every Doctors in our faculty were nice and willing to help, it’s so lucky to meet these friendly teacher especially the coordinator Ms. Agnieszka Krzyżewska, every times we had confuse with some academic issue about the courses or credits and so on, she would help us solved our problems kindly and patiently, we got a lot of her supports. The course I would like to recommend is “abiotic resources in tourism”, it had 4 hours of class a week and was taught by five teachers, each of teachers had different topic and their professional field so it’s a substantial course to learn a lot like the weather, geoscience or water these kinds of resources in the world we can use in tourism. One of the reasons I recommend is that the course had a few field trips which were interesting from knowledges in textbook also every place we visited made us feel really fresh and new. To have such commendable opportunity in foreign country let me unforgettable, I’m pretty sure these were one of my best memories in UMCS. The only course I took from other faculty was “polish language”, it was taught foreign students to know more about polish, for example, we learn about how to speak and how to write polish also some basic terms and wordings in daily life, to be honest, polish is so hard than English, you have to study hard and be patient about learning new language, I thought it was fresh experience also a challenge for people who want to study abroad in Poland. (三)生活環境

UMCS is located in a city called Lublin which takes three hours by train from Warsaw, Lublin is an academic center recognized in Poland and abroad, with a rich educational offer, there has five main colleges including UMCS also the geographic location is near many countries like Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine etc., besides, it’s quite convenience if you want to travel to some Europe countries there has one airport in Lublin. The dormitory I lived in was called “FEMINA” which has supermarket, convenience store, pharmacy, hospital, one small post office and a few restaurants around so the life function is well. About the transportation there also convenience too, just less than 10 minutes-walk to bus station which takes 10 minutes-drive to city center which has department store, lots of restaurants that is to say you can get everything you need there also the square close to old town too, if you want to walk around it’s a best choice to explore Lublin. Though Lublin is like countryside cannot compared to Warsaw, overall, the functionality and convenience is enough for me. When we arrived at Poland was the end of September and we started the semester in October, the weather was like autumn and the temperature was nice, not too hot and not too cold about 15 to 20 degree, in my memory that was the nicest and most comfortable temperature during my stay. The teacher said that this year wasn’t cold as before so it didn’t snow a lot, it’s a pity that we had not experience the real cold and heavy snow in Poland but the degree was lower than Taiwan, it’s cold enough for us. (四)自我成長

The popularity of speaking English is not high for polish also their level of said English isn’t high too so for communication is kind of problem for foreigners especially in downtown, there are lots of people can’t say English like the local waiter or staff even a doctor, I thought the language barrier was the most difficult thing we faced in Poland. Expect for language, the food cultural is quite different from Taiwan too, basically we eat rice or noodle everyday but their main dish are bread, potato or spaghetti, for me it’s not a big deal because I quite used to eat that kind of European food but my classmate said that she couldn’t eat polish meal everyday so we usually cooked by ourselves, one is that cooked by own was cheaper other is we can choose what we like to eat. When I travel to others countries I found out that Poland’s commodity price cheaper than most of European countries, about one zloty equal to 7 to 8 new Taiwan dollar so this is a big advantage study abroad in Poland. To my opinion, the most challenge thing I needed to overcome was that I have to take care of everything by myself I thought it was the main point that junior abroad program want us to learn about not only enhance our English but also let us grow up to break out our comfort zone. All in all, I didn’t encounter any big trouble may because I had friends with me, they made me feel I’m not alone so it was lucky for me. (272字)

(五)大三出國建議

For students who want to study in UMCS, there are some points I would like to tell you, first, the safety in Lublin is better than other European countries so don’t be too worried about but you have to be careful of yourself no matter where you are. Second, the life function is good and the price in Poland is much cheaper, the total expense cost in PL also less than other city too, you will feel how happiness you are live in Poland, next there are lots of eastern restaurants like Thai, Vietnamese or Japanese, even Chinese food these can let you not miss Taiwan a lot, but I recommend you have to try “kebab” that is my favorite dish in Poland. Last, don’t bring too many clothes especially winter clothing and coat, just buy when you get there. Poland is a city that different from your imagination, from my observation none of us are not happy during our abroad time, you will meet lots of nice people, see many beautiful sceneries that you ever seen before and the life style is so distinct too. The time in Poland just like a dream, very special and very unique, if I didn’t choose to study in Poland I thought that I won’t visit this country so it’s really a valuable opportunity for me, the only thing I feel regret was that the period we stay were too short due to this global crisis, have not yet experience the beauty spring and summer in Poland which is too bad.
