(二)課程學習

To be honest, I don’t think I have a so called favorite class. Let me just recommend a good class, composition. It is an English writing class taught by a female professor and I pretty much forget her name now… The reason why I recommend this class is because it helps you to evaluate your level. We have been taught English in a certain way for a long time since we were young in Taiwan and I have been thinking that do they really use this language like we have been taught? Where am I now after learning this language for such a long time? So they are the reasons why I took the class, without a doubt it really helped you improve writing skills. However, you gotta know if you take it, which means there are quite a lot of assignments waiting for you in the future, so at this point it could be double-edged sword to you, better consider carefully before takin' it tho. To me, takin' classes is never a point of studyin' overseas compared with life experiences. However, having a certain degree of English is a prerequisite that you are supposed to possess. Having good English skills makes you adjust to the life you have there and drives you to learn more as well. I am not sayin' there is nothin' you can obtain from the classes, what i am sayin' is you have only a year, so school is not all you have. Tryin' to make the best of this year, you will find eventually you get more elsewhere rather than the school(only if you are not a nerd of course). Wrappin' up, you dont need to be too worried or overthink about takin' class, just choose what you like and enjoy the moment that's the attitude you are supposed to have to face this wonderful year. (三)生活環境

I feel like Long Beach is the best spot to live in this world, it is not too cold in the winter while not too hot in the summer. The campus is ridiculously big to us since lanyang campus is super small.. We live in an apartment 15 mins by bus from the campus and we have everything we need around us, like supermarket, gym, bank… etc. And there is a big merit of this school, the student restaurant. It is so cheap and so delicious, it takes like 8 dollars to enjoy all-you-can-eat buffet if you buy 40 meal plans. Most importantly, it helps you to save a lot of money because it takes a lot to have a meal in California. The nearest beach is called dog beach, it takes roughly 20 mins from the campus by driving. The beach is usually full of varieties of dogs, that's why it is called dog beach. If you are a dog lover, you should definitely go there. About two blocks away, that's where second street is located. Walking along the street, you can see many restaurants and stores sellin' clothes, handcrafts and some stuff like that. Wanna go on a shopping spree? if so, the best choice is cerritos mall. It takes roughly 15 mins from campus by driving. Plus, there are plenties of good restaurants in the cerritos area, including taiwanese, korean, japanese... Not to mention the view of california, it is always stunning as you can see in the picture, especially at dusk. (250字)

(四)自我成長

In fact, i blended in quite well so i didnt really run into any difficulty or culture shock. However, i discovered that students were more willing to take part in classes and talk with their lecturers, not like us we dont really pay attention to classes in Taiwan. As for my daily life, i really enjoyed it, people are good, the weather is good, my mood is good... parents are probably the ones who are suffered due to the money lol. I did kinda envy other people from other countries because they dont need to worry when they are asked where are you from? To me, im always worried about people might be confused after hearin' taiwan and mixin' it up with china you feel me? So i always feel like i lack a sense of belonging when it comes to nationality. Maybe that's why i dont make friends with chinese, i seldom run in to them tho. Some people might think what i was doin' was just narrowing down myself, but you know im not bothered, it is just a way of me and it works good on me too. Aside from this, everything was nearly perfect, it was just like a dream, the kind that you hope you can dream of again. Shoutout to my parents, my friends who live with me, my friends who i made with during this year and everyone who has credit. i could never feel so blessed if it were not for you all. (251字)

(五)大三出國建議

(1)if you are comin' to this school, you should try to find some place to stay other than the dorm. It takes you a lot of money to live in the dorm and they force you to buy more expensive meal plans if you are a dorm resident(it is mandatory). (2)you are supposed to get things done way before you leave for the US. prepare well, dont panic. (3)!!! you need to have a car !!! international license is valid for only ten days in california if you are holding a student visa, which means either get a local license asap or drive with your international license very carefully. if you get pulled over, you might either be given a second chance or be appealed to the court. it depends on the popo's mood. (4)meal plans are a thing that you must buy. just go to the counter on second floor in book store. (5)if you get pulled over by police, dont panic, dont move and leave your hands on the wheel til he or she asks you to do something else. (6)sunglasses are necessary. (7)although the professors would probably ask you to buy textbooks in PE class, no one really buys it. (8)panda express is the most recommended restaurant aside from student restaurant. (9)delivery service is lame in the US according to what i have been thru in this year. (10)it is really hard to make an appointment with DMV (考駕照地方), so try to make one online when you are in Taiwan if possible.(253字)

(六)其他

To sum up, this year is a tragedy thanks to Corona. All my plans are fucked up, trips to the east side, to Canada, to visit my relatives in different city... Besides, i needed to come back way earlier than i expected, just losing the chance to have a complete study-abroad experience. Not only me, the whole world is a mess so i dont blame. (65字)
