2019大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

The school where I study is Oxford Brookes University in Oxfordshire of the UK. Before studying university's courses in September, I also studied English course which lasted 6 weeks from July to August due to I didn't satisfy the qualification as IELTS Overall score has to be 6.5 or pass. After passing the final exam of the English course, I stayed to study subjects which are mostly about business rather than the subject which I studied in Taiwan. For example, foundation of business, foundation of marketing, creativity of marketing, raising awareness of finance, basic economic and the Entrepreneur during semester 1 and 2. (99字)

The creativity of marketing is the lecture which inspires me the most. This lecture has not only fantastic and useful contents but also the brilliant and unusual teacher. I was intimidated for the first time when I walked into the classroom because there was the only Asian student in this class. The only guy was me who was not an English-based and not a Business-based student and other students in this lecture are all English speakers and study the same subject. Although it was not occurred in the first semester before I have been on the track, I was still under the significant pressure form this course; however, the nervous emotion was eased immediately after the teacher of the course starting the class. Due to the teacher showed his huge interests about Taiwan after I said I came from Taiwan, he began introduced Taiwan to other students for example, the ship industry in Taiwan, Taiwanese bike manufacturer Giant firm and the biggest supplier of Apple etc. This action is the one of reasons that I love this teacher and this lecture so much, moreover, the content of the creativity of marketing is amazing. This class strengthened my creative thinking and critical thinking via studying relevant case studies and practicing to evaluate numbers of marketing campaigns or advertisings. I had never studied these relevant knowledge before, therefore I felt extremely thrilled and fresh about gaining the whole new conceptions and skills about marketing with creative way. Additionally, there was an assignment about we had to assist a firm to address its marketing problem by creating a marketing artefact myself. The assignment was tough for me; however, I was very enjoy and motivated to do my wok. Because of the fresh knowledge and the inspired teacher, these two factors make the Creativity of Marketing become my favorite lecture.(306字)

(三)生活環境

Oxford has really suitable wether comparing with other locations or countries during the whole year. The highest temperature will only be 20-22 degree in the whole summer time and the lowest temperature will be 0-(-2) degree. Therefore, it won’t be too hot to live or as hot as Taiwan in spring as well as summer and it won’t be too cold like heavy snow or something but it will still have opportunity to snow in few days. Therefore, the wether in Oxford could be said that Oxford has the most comfortable wether to live. Next, the transportation in Oxford is as convenient as in Taiwan. In the daily, we will only take the bus, coaches and trains to the city centre or other places. We can even walk to the city centre about 30 minutes from our accommodation. Hence, you don’t need to rent a car or know how to drive. Moreover, Oxford is really close to London by taking the coach or the train and it only takes about 1-1.5 hours. Then, the distance between campus and the accommodation where I lived for the whole period is also very close by walking 15 minutes. The other feature of Oxford is that there is a biggest outlet in the UK close to Oxford as well. The room will belong to only a person and include the bathroom, hence, you won’t have to share your room with others but you still got other 5 flatmates with you and share the kitchen with them.(254字)

(四)自我成長

There are several obstacles that will be face when I am living at abroad alone without the family or friends. The most difficult problem which I have to address is communicating with team members to discuss the team work. I found out that I am very lack of knowledge about common sense for example names of CEOs, brands which are popular in western world or news. Therefore, I have to do more research than other team members to find out what they are talking about. Moreover, it’s really hard to have deep conversation with native speakers because when they speak rapidly and use widely words to discuss marketing and business conceptions, I have to translate twice times in my mind. Firstly, I have to translate into Chinese to understand the meanings and translate back to English to express what I want to say. In the university in Taiwan, I was learning English like how to say; however, here they are using English to learn other things. We just only learn about the tool which they use to learn other things. Therefore, I think the biggest challenges of the life at abroad is school team work. On the other hand, I am still living in Oxford even if the coronavirus and I realize that the different personality of different countries. Taiwan is doing very well to prevent the virus but the UK government uses totally different policies against the virus. Through this disaster, I understand more about the different culture and different people are how different from each other.(259字)

(五)大三出國建議

Before studying at abroad, you will be definitely anxious or excited about your future life in other countries. One year is only a very short period, hence, you don’t need to be too nervous or worried because you don’t have any additional time to enjoy and experience. Before going there, the only thing which is also the most important thing is asking yourself what is your purpose to study abroad? Do you only want to explore your international vier or expand your insight horizon via traveling every where or hanging out with your Taiwanese friends, classmates or anyone who can speak Chinese? Asking yourself What do you really want to gain via this experience without wasting your parents’ money. The purpose of this journey is the key for everything. Defining your purpose and your goal of this journey and prepare your opened heart to this mixed world before leaving. There are some suggestions for you guys. First, don’t always hang out with your friends or some body who do speak Chinese if you want your English has greater improvement. Second, don’t be afraid to try everything new to you and experience everything fresh to you as many as possible. Third, during this period, think about your future and try to learn other skills which are you desire to learn. This journey can be very meaningful and priceless; however, it can also be meaningless and waste-money depend on how do you create this journey with your purpose in the future. (253字)
