Gender, Race, Sex and the Body is my favorite class. I have really learned a lot from this class, and the professor ’s humor makes me more motivated to take this class every time. The students in the class all come from different places and background. The professor especially likes to let us share different views with each other. We often listen to each other's experiences for most of the class. Many surprised me, and some empathized with me too. Through this class, I really realized the importance of empathy, and realized that because of race and gender, many things will have different results. After taking this class, I realized that I must love myself, regardless of physically or mentally. I was very impressed. One of my classmates, her name is Summerlove. Her name is enough to impress me, but especially she confessed to everyone that she had defeated cancer, and I really thought she was brave at that time. Because of her skin color, she has been treated unfair often, but she is still strong enough to survive her difficulties. It’s not just her, I learned a lot from the stories of many other students in the class. In the later period, because we changed to take online classes, I couldn't hear the students' ideas face to face, but I definitely realized a lot during the whole process. After this class, it did changed me quite a bit in many ways. Now, whenever I see someone is disrespect to female, I always have a bad feeling and wanted to do something for her. This course really did let me understand how important it is to let everyone have their right to live the way they want. No one should ever judge other’s just by their appearance. It just feels not right to see people've been treated unfair.(310字)

First of all, the entire campus is ridiculously large, and it will take some time to get used to the location of the buildings. But overall, I like this campus very much. It is also very comfortable to walk in the school on the way to another class. The gym in the school is very well equipped. I rented a house with three other friends in Lanyang. I personally like our home very much. I can't say it is perfect, but it really gives people a feeling of home. We have a room for two, and the overall space of the suite is also very sufficient. We have a swimming pool on the first floor for everyone in our building. The location of the apartment is also nice. There is a bus station right in front of our building when you go out. There are supermarkets, restaurants, clothing stores, gyms, pharmacies, banks, and even telecommunications companies. So, the living functions are really perfect. The weather in California itself is very comfortable. Even in summer, it is not hot and humid like Taiwan, but dry and hot, so it is not uncomfortable. In winter, the temperature is similar to Taiwan, but it will be much colder at night, but it is still not difficult to adapt. Not to mention the sunset in California, the colors are different every day, it is always amazing to just look at it. One of the hardest things to get used to will be the food. In Taiwan we do have fast food, but it is not as much as it is in the U.S. So, every once in a while, we will go to Asian markets. The first time we went there, we were so happy to see those brands that we are familiar to. We often cook ourselves to save more money, because it costs a lot if you go to restaurants in California.(321字)

Basically, I didn't encounter any difficulties in the U.S., but actually adapted quite well. One of things I deeply realize is that the amount of homework in American universities is much more than in Taiwanese universities. It is really important to allocate time, otherwise there will be a bunch of work every single day. When I have assignment problems, I do also ask my classmates, they are all willing to help. Fortunately, the professors I met were very friendly and patient with international students, so the problems encountered in the course were also well resolved. They also have their office for international students, so every time we have questions, we can ask people there. The biggest part of the culture shock is of course the smell of marijuana everywhere. After all, it is illegal in Taiwan. This part was quite shocking when I first went to the U.S., but later I got used to it. It’s not a big deal after all. Another point is that the size of food in the U.S. is really huge! Although this may really be different depending on everyone's quantity of food. It was a bit uncomfortable to me at first, but later I planned to pack it home and eat it for another meal, so it became an advantage for me. People say Westerners might be impolite to Asians, but I did not face this kind of problem in the states. Everyone I met were nice and welcoming. And I found out there’s actually a lot of Asians in California. Just be polite to everyone, it's not that scary to be an Asian in America.(277字)

(五)大三出國建議

I think the most important thing is to know your ability and don’t be afraid! You stepped out of the comfort zone, so you must have the courage to face new people and things. Among all, learning to be independent is very important. There will be many times in the whole process to deal with things by yourself, face people you don’t know or face people who do not speak Chinese every day. I think it's good to know yourself better at this time. The financial management part is also very important while studying abroad. Of course, because most of the students studying in Lanyang are also from other cities, so the financial management part may already be a little understood. However, because of different currencies, there are different prices in foreign countries. Some are relatively high, so managing money abroad is very important! Next, I personally think that social skills are also very important. Needless to say, study in school, of course, we must take classes seriously, rush to progress and so on. In this process, you will slowly learn the importance of time management. But the rest out of the coursework is also very important, as long as you are brave enough to communicate with people, basically there will be no big problems. This is also very helpful for your future. It feels great to know friends from foreign countries and also get to know many different cultures. These are all great achievements in the whole process of studying abroad.(254字)

(六)其他

Wrapping up, everything i experienced in California was amazing. I visited different cities once in a while and went to Hawaii with my friends. I met friends that i wanna keep in touch for the rest of my life. Everything seems to turned out pretty well. Thanks to my parents, my roommates and everyone that treats me so well. It's a bless to be able to enjoy life with great friends right by your side. If Corona didn't happen to be this serious, and everything i planned could work, things could have been perfect. (94字)
