I love the course which called sexual culture and taught by Clarissa Smith. The class is about analyze the ways in which particular sexual identities. Sex and sexuality are powerful aspects of our lives. In 20 century, we through the media to have some knowledge on sexuality. Although there had many discrimination on homosexual or transgender, we may through the class learn more and to show understanding and respect on them. We watched lots of movie in class. For example, Moonlight (directed by Barry Jenkins), The Danish Girl, directed by Tom Hooper... ... In the end of the semester, we had the personal presentation. It was very difficult for me because I was afraid of speaking in front of many people by myself. But, the teacher and classmate had been patient on my presentation. My topic is about sexual orientation and I would like to investigate how to identify ourselves. Sexual orientation including many aspect: Asexual, bisexual, heterosexual, homosexual, pansexual and polysexual. However, there have too many sexual orientation to introduce. Therefore, I choose some and to compare them. In fact, whether is heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or even pansexual. It is because of different sexual orientation and has different conditions for choosing partners. Everyone is equal, it can't be identified as sinner that have the rule about a girl must fall in love with a boy. You can identify your own sexual orientation. I also found two website to help us if we have no idea to know ourselves. I made the case for understanding sex as a continuum, drawing on Kinsey and the report, plus the scale for associating particular sexualities. Klein scale of past, present, future orientations. Everyone is unique, don't judge by others. No matter what sexual orientation we are, live for ourselves. In this course, we had ability to select and evaluate competing theories of sexuality and analyze representations of sexuality in popular cultural. Finally, I had more confidence to speak in front of people that my classmate rate me 17/24 points. (333字)

(三)生活環境

[Weather] The weather is always windy and dry. It is about 20℃ in summer, but it won't snow in winter. [School] There have two campus in University of Sunderland. One is St.peter campus, the other is City campus. I usually went to St.peter campus, because City campus is for most art students. The course of St.peter campus is tourism and business management. City campus located in City Centre and St.peter campus would need to pass the bridge and besides the river. If you need to buy some food, clothes or furniture, you can go to the shopping mall which called Bridges. There have Tesco(food), Boots(beauty store and pharmacy), Debenhams (clothes), Saver (daily necessities) and coffee shop. [Transportation] I always took the metro and live in Sunderland station (on foot 3 minutes) The metro could reach the nearest bustling city- Newcastle which station called Monument and also could reach the Newcastle airport. You also could download the app "Station". It is more useful than "Uber" in Sunderland when you would like to take the taxi after 12 o'clock at night. [Life] It is expensive to eat out and I thought there had no delicious foods in UK, you better learn how to cook or make some friends who can cook for you. The bank is also important. There have two: Lloyds and Barclays Bank. Most of people use Lloyds Bank. I think it is very useful because I usually use Apple Pay. The Online banking is very convenience, you could make sure how much money income and out. (260字)

(四)自我成長

[Cultural shock] In the beginning, I was very exciting because I won't control by anyone! However, I felt very helpless when I got off the plane. They spoke too fast and I couldn't understand. I was afraid of speaking when I wanted to ask for something and I didn't know how to express. Most of people are reserved and so do I , so I didn't met too much foreigner classmate. But most of foreigner have many patient to understand what you would like to convey. I was looking forward going to UK at first and I felt it is easy to overcome anything. However, I felt very difficult when you were not speak fluent in English. After being in UK for a week, I already missed my hometown. Day by day, I got used to living in there. I thought you will be very novelty when you go to the new place, but it is hard that you need to adapt it. Therefore, the time will helps you to adapt and accept it. I spent lots of time on my English speaking skill and be more confidence to show myself. During this year, I was being more independent and hardworking. I used to be very lazy on doing housework. But after this year, I did everything initiative. Moreover, I know more about what I really need in the future. I had set the new goal to myself and had more clear direction to reach. Finally, I went to Iceland and Netherland with my roommate and friends. It were the nice trip and I had expended my world view than ever. You would met different people and got more new knowledge in every countries. Furthermore, It is very important to have friends when you away from home. They are such as your family! (302字)

(五)大三出國建議

First, don't be too shy to make foreigner friends. I was regretted that I didn't go the school parties or activities. To make more friends, you won't be alone when you get trouble. Second, you also could get the part time job in Chinese supermarkets or restaurants to earn some money for planning the trip. You might find something new when you stay in other countries, so experience your live in foreign countries carefully or you won't be regretted. The most regretted thing is I went to UK study and I didn't go to the London because the coronavirus, I need to go back to Taiwan before UK lockdown. Therefore, don't hesitate to visit any places. Moreover, because of the Coronavirus, they had seriously discrimination in asian people. If they did some impolite, ignore them and get away from them. (140字)
