(一)基本資料

School: Winona State University, City: Winona, Minnesota, Date: 06/25/2019-05/09/2020, Course: (First Semester) Intro to Higher Education (OR 100-58) WIN: This course is for the international students, it’s about how to adapt to the American learning system. Beginning Japanese I: The course about learning how to use basic Japanese. Mass Media and Society (MCOM 100-01): This course is learning about what is Mass Media and how it works. (Second Semester) Beg Japanese II: Advanced version of Beginning Japanese I. Intro to Japanese Cult (GS 215-01): A Japanese history class. World Regional Geog (GEOG 110-01): This is a very common geography class. We learn different terrains and cultures from it. (109字)

(二)課程學習

One of my favorite lessons is the beginning Japanese. When we were choosing courses, Because I love anime, I got an idea that maybe I can learn Japanese. I really want to know about the Japanese writing system so that I can experience more stuff about Japan. At the beginning of class, I felt very nervous. After all, this is the first time I learned a language abroad, and I don’t know what kind of learning method I need to focus on. But after the first class, I felt that it was not that scary. The professor is a Japanese, she is a very nice teacher for her students. and teaches us patiently. But I messed up my first chapter exam and my score was 7/100. It made me a little frustrated with studying Japanese. But the teacher did not give up on me. After class, if I have any problems I don’t understand, she will help me to solve them. For some assignments, she always give me some good advice or positive comments. The way the teacher teaches the Japanese class is also very interesting. It is not just about improving Japanese ability through continuous writing. Sometimes we take the form of group discussions. The teacher use situation encountered in daily life as a topic, then we need to use the Japanese we learned in class to make a scenario script. For example, I met my friend today and I want to invite him to watch a movie together. At this time, students need to discuss with each other and speak their own scripts on stage. In such an activity, everyone's Japanese conversation skills have improved very quickly. For the grammar part, the teacher will also emphasize the important part and test us in the way of question and answer in the classroom. I like this kind of teaching method very much.(314字)

Minnesota is a very wonderful place, and my school (Winona State University) is located in Winona, Minnesota. The summer here is very comfortable, about 20 degrees Celsius. But in winter it is very painful. In the winter here, it snows every day. The temperature is about below 0 degrees Celsius. If you don’t wear enough, you will feel very uncomfortable when you go out for school. Winona State University is a bit like a community college and the campus is small. There are conditions for maintaining daily life, but for entertainment only bowling alleys and school events are held. Therefore, pay close attention to the school's messages because these messages have detailed about the school's activities. The problem of accommodation is not big, the two options of the school dormitory and renting a house. It is very safe here. Residents are very friendly and enthusiastic. They will help if they encounter difficulties. There is a Winona Lake near the school. It is very beautiful in summer and you can go boating on the lake. In winter, the lake freezes and you can skate on the lake. Is a great experience. There are not many dietary choices here, many Lanyang’s students cook their own meals. In addition to cooking at home, the school has the meal plan and the cafeteria. So, there is no need to worry about your meal. There is not much traffic need to worry about, you can take Lyft (it’s similar to Uber) to anywhere you want if you have enough money.(256字)

(四)自我成長

In fact, in the United States, there is not much trouble in terms of academics, but many problems are encountered in life. For example, diet, there are many cheeses in American food. It takes a lot of courage to adapt to these cheeses. At first, I would be very happy because I have never tried these foods. But these foods will get tired of eating for a long time but will want to stay away from these foods. Fried foods are also the same. This is the time for us to learn and try to cook our own food. Another important issue is ordering food. The names of some foods are difficult to remember, and it would be embarrassing to forget the food name when ordering. When I was studying in the United States, I worked part-time in the school’s cafeteria. While working part-time, I also encountered similar problems. I have no idea what the guests want. Maybe we need to learn the names of these foods. Otherwise, it is difficult to survive in the United States. At first, I thought that language is a very important issue. In fact, they all understand what we want to say, so I think that the problem is not so important. On the contrary, lack of knowledge of some proper nouns has caused some problems. I think this year I have not only made much progress in cooking but also know a lot about some food terms. At least there are no problems with ordering. I am very pleased with this point.(260字)

(五)大三出國建議

Don't worry about English conversations, because as long as we speak, they basically understand what we're saying. It just takes the courage to speak more sentences. Try not to stay in your comfort zone and find some American friends. Otherwise, language skills will never improve. The United States is really a great place. Living here is comfortable. Whether studying here or meeting new friends, these are great experiences. I think that this year in the United States. In addition to learning knowledge, the most important thing is to establish an attitude of life. If you want to learn knowledge, you can do it in Taiwan actually. Go abroad to understand the different cultures in different places and learn their spirit. Incorporate yourself into this ethnic group and improve yourself better. Besides, America is a beautiful place. There are many natural environments that Taiwan does not have. It would be better to go for a walk than stay at home all alone. After all, we spend money to study abroad. Then enjoy the different scenery and leave good memories. (178字)
