Courses:(1)AA_S 0212-02 Asian Americans and Mass Media Spring 2020: Teach films and news media history of Asian Americans and the influences of them. (2)ENG 0212-01 Advanced Grammar for Writing--Multilingual Spring 2020: Help students get familiar with advanced grammar and how to use them in the articles. (3)ENVS 0130-01 Environmental Studies Spring 2020: Teach students the influences of several aspects of environment pollution and how to prevent and improve the environment protection methods. (4)JAPN 0101-03 First Semester Japanese Spring 2020: Teach students basic Japanese grammar, communication and writing.(97字)

This course's class number is JAPN 0101-03 which teaches the basic Japanese grammar, communication and writing. When we decided to learn a new language, it will be a challenge because you need to learn all the grammars and vocabularies from the start. Just image how long you spent your time on learning your mother language and you still not a expert of it, sometimes you still make mistakes. This makes me feel that learn a new language is a fresh experience but also nervous in the meantime. With this kind of mood, I chose to learn the Japanese in the San Francisco State University. At beginning I was planning if the teacher's teaching style is not the type I like I will quit the course and choose another one, but soon I change my mind because the situation is not difficult as I thought. This class has great teaching atmosphere and kind teacher, students are also have passion in learning Japanese. The reason I prepared to quit if I don't like the class because I chose the France in the first semester in San Francisco. The professor of France course start the class with France. It sounds normal because its France class, but he didn't teach the meaning of each sentence, he just kept saying France. To be honest, I hate this kind of Teaching method because I think this is not fair to the students who had never learned France before. If we can't even read it, how could we survive in the class? The reason I recommend this class because the professor will ask each student if they understand or not, no one will fall behind too much with this way. The professors' name of this course are Takamatsu, Nobuko and Muranaka, Hideo. These two professor are the original professors of the class, but the professor became Otomi Yoko because the COVID-19 problem. This course will still be Otomi Yoko in next semester because the next semester will still be taught on internet.(335字)

(三)生活環境

The campus of San Francisco State University is very convenient because it has the checkerboard-road-system. No matter which path you choose, you will reach your destination eventually. But there are also some inconvenient parts in the campus. For instance, they don't have road marks at sidewalk. So you can get lost easily if you are not familiar with the road condition, I strongly suggest the person who want to go to San Francisco State University go to college before the orientation and start of semester to get familiar with the campus. I think the most difficult part of studying in San Francisco State University is the part of living because the living cost is too high. Only the rent of every month can cost you for 1,200 dollars and it is like the lowest fee to rent a room. Some rental information which posted on internet only cost 700 or 600 dollars, but they all have bad living environment or have long distance from the college. For those who don't have a car will be extremely difficult to commute between college and house. The student card of San Francisco State University can cancel the charge of bus in San Francisco City. But it only works in the San Francisco City, if you are not living in the region, you still need to pay the fee of bus and other transportation. The rooms which have high quality usually were reserved by some students who recommended by their seniors who's gonna move out the room. The weather and environment of San Francisco City is wonderful, it seldom rains and has convenient transportation system. There are restaurants and supermarkets near the college, it makes it easier to supplement daily items.(284字)

The difficulties I faced in college are different teaching styles and the amount of homework. The reason I said this because I faced a very hard situation in the first semester. When I arrived in San Francisco for the first time, I thought I was well-prepared because I checked everything that might be used in class. At the beginning of the semester, I noticed that one of my classes is different than the original one I chose. In the first class, I thought I have chosen civilization but it became drama instead. I asked the professor of drama course what happened to the class I chose, she answered the school made a mistake and changed the class. I was shocked because the college didn't notify me about this. Eventually, I renew all my schedules because the rest of the courses conflicted with my original schedule. The homework is also a problem because I don't have that much homework in Taiwan. In Taiwan's college, we only have each course once each week. In United States, we have each course two to four times in a week and every time the professor will give assignment. Professors in San Francisco State University used to teach with fast speed, sometimes I just started to do my note and The professor erased whiteboard. About the culture differences, to be honest, I didn't feel too much shock from the culture differences. Maybe it was because the people and the students I met there are kind, or it was because San Francisco have too many Asian Americans so there have strong Asia style. I think the biggest culture chock I felt are the people's attitude because when you face the different races' people, their attitude and talking style changed suddenly. One common point is most of them are outgoing. (302字)

(五)大三出國建議

The advice I can gave is not much, but I can provide some useful information for you to prepare the relevant documents. During current COVID-19 problem, the San Francisco State University decided to extend the length of long-distanced lectures period to next semester. So you will stay at your home at Taiwan to finish the your first semester degree of San Francisco State University. To be honest, this will be more hard for you to study in Taiwan because you need to adapt the time equation from San Francisco. When you need to study in the mid-night, I have to say, the feeling won't be so well. For other who don't want to go to San Francisco State University, I can also give you some advice for your future life at foreign country. When you go aboard, you will talk to foreigners, that's for sure. Some of you will live with your classmates in Taiwan because you might choose the same college. I recommend you to not live together because you will lose the chance of training your speaking skill. If we live together, you can meet foreigners and make friends with them together. Don't waste your chance to improve yourself. You should go outside to sight-seeing more, leave your comfort zone, you will learn faster and more. Go aboard to study is a rare chance, you should make it meaningful. This experience's purpose is not only study but also make you become more independent.(245字)
