2019大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

School: San Francisco State University City: San Francisco, CA Date: 08/14/2019-05/25/2020 Course: (First Semester) ALI-Level 48 Reading, Writing, Listening, and oral communication are the four main courses in ALI and we can also choose two elective courses. First of all, Reading and Writing are focus on how to read an article and then write a response essay about it, the type of response essay includes the summary, journal, paraphrase, and research paper. Listening, and oral communication teaches us how to make a note when we listening to a speech or any class quickly and clearly. In addition, learning how to write a note, prepare a good presentation is also an important thing in our class. Therefore, in this semester, we have many presentations in class to practice what we learn. The other two elective courses which I chose are Pronunciation and Business. In the course of Pronunciation, we learn how to pronounce the difficult words and the words which sound similar. Business-class includes many topics, Marketing, Finance, Manage, and Economics, the teacher use interesting ways to teach us, such as game and practical activity. (Second Semester) Advanced Grammar Writing focuses on proofreading to revise and check the grammar in our article and classmates'. Psychology Personal Development lets us know about personal development and how is the relationship between physical and mental. First Semester Japanese is learning about the basic vocabulary, word, grammar, and Japanese culture. Asian Americans Mass Media learns about the history of Asian Americans and how Asian American actors and actresses be treated and portrayed in Hollywood. (258字)

(二)課程學習

My favorite course is First Semester Japanese. San Francisco State University has many courses of foreign language, I would choose this course because I am interested in Japanese. Therefore, this is a great opportunity that I could learn Japanese. For this class, we have two teachers. Both of them are Japanese, so we can learn and listen to the pronunciation of Japanese more clearly. First of all, teacher Takamatsu is teaches vocabulary, grammar and Japanese words Hiragana and Katakana from Monday to Wednesday, and the other teacher, Muranaka is teaches about the Kanji(Chinese words) and reviews the Japanese words which we learn from teacher Takamatsu on Thursday. From Monday to Wednesday, we all have many quizzes about the vocabulary and Japanese words (Hiragana and Katakana). And, after learning one lesson, we would have a lesson quiz. Although I also feel press about the quizzes in everyday, teacher always teaches us slowly and also use the films to let us understand more clearly. On Thursday, teacher Muranaka would give us the in-class assignments and his own handouts to review what we learn from Monday to Wednesday and then he would teach the Kanji (Chinese words). Both of them are teach us carefully and patiently, so we can follow their steps easily. In addition to teach us the knowledge in textbook, they also teach us the Japanese culture and the way of greeting by practical activity. Except these two teachers, we have another teacher to teach us in online course because of the pandemic. This teacher, Otomi would record her own teaching video to us and after watching the video, we must to record our own practice files to her. Record the practice files, take the photo of our homework to her and take quizzes every day is become our daily routine to learn Japanese online from Monday to Wednesday, and we must to take the video class on Zoom. Although this course has many homeworks and quizzes, I think I learn many things on this course. Even if learning Japanese in online course is so difficult, but I consider that I still learn many knowledge from those three teachers.(359字)

(三)生活環境

San Francisco State is a beautiful place that has many famous tourist spots. The weather in San Francisco is dry and cold, we can feel the changes of four seasons in one day. The transportation in SF State is very convenient, there is a lot of public transportation and also has a lot of Uber and Lyft which we just use the app that we can get on the car at a fixed point. SF State is a prosperous city and the price in San Francisco is pretty high, everything is expensive than Taiwan and it's difficult to find our hometown food here. So, we always cook by ourselves to save money. Our school San Francisco State University has two campuses, one is in downtown and the other one is the campus that we study now. My rental house has a little bit far from school if we take the bus, we need to transfer for two times and it needs to take about 40 minutes to one hour. So, we usually take the Uber to save the time. San Francisco State has many different cultures because there are many people who come from different countries. We not only learn about American culture but also learn a lot of different cultures from other countries. Because of multiculturism in SF State, we meet a lot of classmates, friends, and teachers who come from different countries, such as, India, France, Arabic, Korea, and so on. I think San Francisco State is a great place where we can visit it again.(257字)

(四)自我成長

When I have arrived in San Francisco, I was very nervous about my life and my academics. First, I was worried about everything in my one-year American life, such as open an account and a lot of things which I never do by myself in Taiwan. But, I told myself that this is a good chance to let me become mature. So, I do my best to try how to deal with all of the things in my life in San Francisco. Second is about my academic, I was afraid that I can not follow the learning steps of teachers and classmates because of my English ability is not good and I was afraid that I can't adapt the teaching styles and the pressure of my academic. So, I follow the teachers teaching steps to learn gradually. And I complete this one-year academics successfully. In addition to academics and life in America, the culture shock is also a big problem we must face. For example, because of this pandemic, if we (Asian who speak Chinese) wear a mask, we will be discriminated. Sometimes, they see the Asian face, they would look at us unfriendly. Although the racial discrimination is insisting in our life when we in America, we still meet many friendly friends. In this year, there are many different things and people who appear in life. The difficult things I have complete them successfully and learn a lot of experiences. Don't be afraid to try anything, just do it. (250字)

(五)大三出國建議

Don't be afraid of everything, you should believe that you can do it. If you want to study at San Francisco State University, do not hesitate about anything. San Francisco is a beautiful place and you can find a lot of diverse culture at here. I mean that there are many places and things are waiting for you to explore them. In addition to learning in school, I suggest that all of you can take some time to explore this city and find your self-value. If you encounter anything, don't give up. For my example, when I feel pressure or have a problem with my academics, I would tell myself, I can do it, just keep your chin up. Studying abroad is a good and rare opportunity for us, don't stay at home or in your dorm the whole day, go outside to find some different things. One year is very short, you should keep this chance to get more different and interesting things which that you can't see in Taiwan. After one year, you will find that there will have some differences in yourself. The price of things in San Francisco is very high, so I suggest that you can cook by yourself or if you live with your friends, classmates, you can share the things with each other. I think this is the best way to let us learn how to do a good money management. The weather in San Francisco is dry and cold, we can feel the changes of four seasons in one day, remember to keep wearing warm.(263字)
