Because of the virus, Covid-19, we were forced to end the last semester early and returned to Taiwan. However, there was a lot of good courses I had taken in Indiana University of Pennsylvania. One of my favorite courses is General Psychology, taught by Professor Henry Adrienne. I had a wonderful experience of taking this course. Since it was a freshman course, professor did not put too much pressure on the students at the beginning. But later, as the course progressed, we started to have homework and quizzes. Sometimes, Professor will use interactive teaching to explain the difficult parts. I think it is a helpful way to understand better in class. And there is another benefit, which is knowing your classmate better and making friends easily. I make many friends during class interaction and discussion. Although at the beginning, I was shy and too afraid to communicate with others. But when I took that step, talking to others seems to be easier than I thought. It turns out that making friends is so simple. In this course, professor hopes that students should come to class, so she provides the PowerPoint with notes that will appear in the exam. Only the students who have come to class can take the notes, or you will have to ask some other classmate to get it. If you have a legitimate reason not to go to class and too nervous to ask notes from classmates, you can send an email to the professor and ask for help. She is a genuinely nice professor and is always happy to help. Overall, taking courses in US is a quite different and special experience. I have learned a lot not only in the course but also in life. It is an incredibly special experience that I will never forget.(302字)

(三)生活環境

Indiana University is a very nice place and it has a very big and beautiful campus. I live in Wallwork Hall which is a student dormitory in campus. It has many types of rooms you can choose. The one I lived in is for four people, two room in each side in one dorm. It’s a comfortable place to live. The campus is located more like in the countryside, not in the center of the city. It takes two hours to get there from Pittsburgh International Airport. Although it dose not located in the downtown, I still love the environment and the atmosphere there. You can take the bus to anywhere nearby. You’ve got Walmart, Indiana mall, Martin, CVS to go visit. And the buses you take was totally free if you are an IUP student, just remember to bring your ICard with you, or other wise you will get charge for taking the ride. The food there, you can buy the meal plan which the school provide. If you buy the meal plan, you can just swipe your ICard into the cafeteria, North Dining Hall. It’s cheap and there are plenty of food for you to choose, you can eat all you can eat there. The weather there is warm and sunny in August, but it will turn extremely cold after Thanksgiving and it will start to snow at that time. So, if you are planning to come, make sure you prepare enough or enough money. Otherwise you will be frozen in the second semester.(259字)

(四)自我成長

Studying abroad isn’t an easy thing, when I first got there, I was afraid of talking to anyone, afraid of talking to people, afraid of asking questions, afraid of many things. After all, English isn’t me first language. And you are alone, everything needs to come by yourself. You must start talking to someone or your problem will not be solved. Since I noticed that, I stating to talk to people, chat with classmate, asking questions that I did not understand. For me, the hardest thing is having a conversation with someone I barely know. But I knew I had to. Now I am not afraid of talking to stranger and I have made a lot of friends there. During the course, sometimes I cannot understand what professor was talking about or the professor was talking too fast. In this case, I would ask my classmates for help or just send an email to the professor. Apart from this, I will go to the library twice maybe three times a week to catch up the lessons that I do not understand, finishing homework, or preparing for the quizzes. There is one thing that needs to be aware of, is that if you go travel during break time make sure that you have accompany. Although that there’s nothing terrible happened during my trip. But still this is a thing that everyone should be aware of. Traveling is another thing that I think it has many challenges. You will have to book the transport tickets, hotel, do many things by yourself. It is an incredibly challenging thing that can really make you growth. However, traveling the world is also a topic of studying abroad.(285字)

(五)大三出國建議

There is nothing much I can really suggest to you, but don’t be afraid of talking to others. You will find out that actually your English is not that bad. And don’t be scared of asking questions that you don’t know. Its nothing. In fact, you should be proud of yourself. And making friends out there is important. You will find out that people are nicer than you think. Take plenty trips if you can, experience different cultures and try some food that you never taste it before. There is so many things that you will experience during your study abroad. Make your study abroad amazing. Be safe and try to make some good memory during your study abroad. It will be a wonderful experience for you. Play and study are both important, you can do it! Last but not least, stay save while you are out there alone and trust yourself.(155字)
