(二)課程學習

The first semester I would say the speaking and listening class. This course is not only reading textbooks or taking exams but also encourage us to try to make a conversation with people start with a small talk. The teacher inspired me a lot. Her name is Christy, and she has more than 30 years of teaching experience. She knows exactly each students' difficulty and suggests we should put more effort into it. She almost helps with any question or problem that we faced. Such as the format of writing or grammar on a sentence or a conversation. Besides, when the thanksgiving day came, she invited us to her house to celebrate and enjoyed traditional cuisine" turkey". To live an American style, Christy really helps me a lot. In the second semester, I would recommend the course of Japanese if you are interested in language. The reason why I recommend this course is that Japanese culture is close to ours. Though we have to do homework every day and take small tests every other day, your Japanese will have big progress at the end of the semester. This course is also let us know more about the Japanese culture and lifestyle by attending activities associated with Jpop and writing papers after self-experience with connecting to Japanese culture. Due to the coronavirus, we are forced to go back home and doing online classes, but the study is still working on. We still practice Japanese and hand in the assignments to the professor. At first, we were struggled with how to take the exam, but thanks to the technology we finally figure it out. It is such an unforgettable memory. I really hope that one day I can get a chance to go back and enjoy the American lifestyle. Such a great experience.(300字)

(三)生活環境

I lived in a homestay. There are five family members and a cute dog. The weather in Long Beach, CA is super nice, the sunshine is so bright and the is not humid as Taiwan. California State University Long Beach is four bus stop far from my homestay, so I usually take the bus to school, and sometimes I will take Uber (probably 5 mins)if I get up late. The first time I walk on the campus I was like: wow! the campus is damn big. I have two classes but there are totally in a different way, so it takes me 30 minutes if I walk. I was so confused about whether I should take these courses or not. My friends and I usually drive cars to go outside and play during free time. We went to so many places in Downtown Los Angeles such as Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Universal Studio. At first, I was not used to eating so-called " American food" like hamburgers, fries, and drinks with much sugar. Thus, I cooked my hometown cuisine by myself. Though there is not any Asian supermarket around, ranch 99- a chain Asian supermarket is 15 minutes away from my homestay. We usually visited Asian restaurants for dinner because the price is much cheaper and the type of cuisine is familiar with. We also went to many outlets and bought so many clothes, shoes, accessories. The price there always is on sale. To sum up, everything there is great and if you have any problems, people there are nice to help. (259字)

(四)自我成長

For me, there are three main difficulties. First of all, I am too afraid to talk with people. I was afraid that I say anything wrong. The solution is that my speaking and listening teacher encouraged me. Christy told me not to be nervous and do not be afraid of making a mistake. Speak out loud and you will know what you have to make it better. The oral presentation provides an opportunity for us to face which part we should work more on it. Secondly, the cuisine is not what I used to eat and we have to pay tips for the waiter or waitress. I will cook by myself so that I can decide what I want or I will look for Asian restaurants. On the one hand, the price is much cheaper, on the other hand, the taste is I used to eat. Though the tips for the waiter/waitress is custom, usually the price will be 18% of what you cost for lunch and 20% for dinner. As a matter of fact, I become a person who is good at doing math shit. Last but not least, the weather. Though I mentioned the weather is super nice here above, I feel like too dry for my skin. I have to moisturize like almost once an hour, and I feel like I am more thirsty than before. To sum up, I overcome those difficulties and actually they are not too tough. If you choose CSULB for junior study abroad, these are what you have to face it.(258字)

(五)大三出國建議

I would say you do not need to be too nervous or concern about whether you can get used to it or not. If you choose California State University Long Beach to be your junior study abroad school, you only need to worry about is your transportation. The traffic in Los Angeles there is extremely terrible and the public bus either. You or you and your friends better have a car, so that it will be convenient for you. This is the best and the most sincere suggestion from us. In fact, if you miss any hometown things like food or something, you can buy almost everything that you can imagine except 科學麵and衛生棉. If you have any question about enrolling in school, how to take courses, what should know before renting a house, your bank account, your mobile, which places do I recommend or things about California State University Long Beach you can DM me or other who went there.
