My name is Young. I chose Winona State University to be my college of the Junior Study Abroad program. This is a very simple and beautiful town, I arrived in the United States on 8/2/2019. There are many interesting courses at WSU, professors, and officers are all friendly, so don't worry about there are some problems and you can't find someone for help.(62字)

My favorite course at Winona State University is beginning Japanese I. In this course you will learn some basic Japanese skills. We take the course in the small classroom, there are only about 25 people in the class. So, you will make some friends with your classmates, and if there is any problem or you are confused about something, professor Nagai can help you as soon as possible. Professor Nagai was a very nice and hard-working person, she always makes the class full of fun. You don’t have to worry about anything if you have never seen or speak Japanese. Professor Nagai will teach you from the character to the basic vocabulary and grammar. Although there are many homework and quiz, I think it is a good way to let us practice more. If you follow professor Nagai's step, you will learn it very fast and well. After we finish a chapter of the textbook, we will do a chapter test, to check how was your states and what else you need to improve. The chapter test is not very difficult if you pay attention to the class and review every content of the textbook. Before the chapter test, we usually will have an oral test, but the oral test is not very formal type of test, it is more like a drama, you have to find a group about 3-4 people and use the material you learn in the class and act it on the stage in front of your classmates. It is fun and helps to understand every detail of the textbook. All in all, if you are not sure what kind of course, you want to take or you are interested in Japanese, I will be strongly recommended you take the beginning Japanese I, you will never regret it.(302字)

Compare to other colleges in the United States, Winona State University is not a big college. Every building is close to each other, you can switch to the next building in a very short time. There are many choices of housing around the campus, you don't have to worry that it will be hard to find an apartment, all you have to do is finding the information and compare the details of them. For example, the price of rent, the distance between campus, the facility in the apartment and was it convenient to buy food or taking the bus. There is something you might be notice, the weather in Winona's winter was very very cold, there are snow and ice everywhere, so you can prepare the coat and boots earlier, then you don't have to worry about the winter. There are many restaurants on the campus, there is one buffet on the first floor of Krysko Common building and seven stores in the basement, it includes the Shusi, burger, Subs, Chinese food, Starbucks, taco and smoothie. It is very safe and delicious. When you came to the United States, the first thing that you found out might be the price of food is very expensive, so I will be recommended you to buy some material and cook it by yourself, there is a big grocery store "Walmart" in Winona, only 10 minutes away from campus, you can take the bus or Lyft to get there. You can find almost everything you need over there. For example, meat, vegetable, milk, drinks, furniture, and even electronic devices. Besides, you can order online and ship it to your apartment if you are not available to go outside. (283字)

I believe this is many people's first time coming to the United States and here is some experience of what kind of problem I have met and how do I overcome. The first thing or impact a met is the English ability. In the United States, you are not always with your friends. Sometimes you have to deal with something alone. So, you have to improve your English ability. For example, if you want to buy some tickets or food, you must have to use English to communicate with the staff to let them help you. You don't have to worry about they will dislike you if your English ability is awful, most of the people in the United States they are kind and friendly, they will help you as much as they can. The second problem I face is time differences. But it is not a big deal, this symptom will only begin in the first couple weeks, you will feel sleepy or get up and sleep early. Basically, after a month, you will be alright. And the last difficulty I met is about learning. For the first time, you might be unfamiliar with some professor teaching, they speak fast and use some difficult vocabulary in the lesson. All you can do is do your best to focus on the lesson, do review after class, and preview before class. It can help you easily to understand what the professor is teaching. If you still have some problems, you can send an email to the professor or tutor to arrange some time for you to figure your problem out.(269字)

There are some advantages and disadvantages to choosing Winona State University for your Junior Study Abroad Program, for example, the price of the bill is cheaper than other school but it is boring than others as well. And the weather in the winter is super cold, so for someone afraid of cold you have to be prepared before you come. By the way, Winona State University will lend every student a laptop, you can choose Apple Macbook pro or HP laptop, so it is not necessary to bring your own to the United States. Besides, if you are a need-go-out person and you are under 21 to rent or buy a car, you can try the Enterprise Carshare program. It's cheap and convenient to rent a car for someone who is under 21, the price is from $8-9 per hour and they cover the unlimited mileage and the gas. To rent a car you only have to use their app and choose the time you want to use, that's it. so it is a pretty good choice for the student in Winona. The first thing you have to do when you arrive, Winona, is to create a bank account and get a debit or credit card. Because in the United States, the credit card is very useful. No matter what you want to buy in the convenience store, online shopping, pay your bill, or rent. Almost everything about the money you will need the credit card. And Wells Fargo is the most convenient in Winona. The process is fast and simple. They also provide a 24/7 helpline to assist you with any problem. And in the United States, you can use the function in your bank website call "Zelle". It can send money without any transaction fee and many banks use this function, so it is easy to send money to others even they have a different brand of the bank account. If you want to take a trip to the Minneapolis or Wisconsin state you can choose Jefferson Line Bus, you can buy the ticket on their website and there is also a discount for the student. Otherwise, there are two ways to come to Winona from Taiwan. First, you can take any flight to the United States and take a connecting flight to MSP airport, then take a train or bus to Winona city. Second, you can take a flight to Chicago and take a train to Winona city, this way can take only one flight. If you do not enjoy taking a flight maybe you can consider it.(428字)
