(一)基本資料

My junior year was at Winona State University in Minnesota. I was supposed to be there for 11 months, but because of the coronavirus, I returned early. Last semester, I took five courses, including English writing, international higher education, creative computing, English for computer science, and web designing. Second semester, I took four courses, including mass media, music, Japanese culture and globalization. (61字)

(二)課程學習

I have two favor classes in each semester, one is web design, the other is music. The name of the web design teacher is MM Bari, the teacher is an Indian, I thought he will have a serious accent in the first time, but after a semester, I feel ok and the class is also very happy. One of the reasons why I like web design is that I used to use some simple grammar when I was in elementary school. Another reason is that the teacher would take us step by step to teach and practice, as well as teach us different topics. This has aroused my great interest in web design. Music teacher's name is Harry Mechell, music content similar to music theory at the beginning, and it will also introduced in each period of the famous composer after little music theory, such as Beethoven, Mozart, and also there are the most people did not know the European composers, such as Thomas Weelkes, Vivaldi and so on. Before the class, I just know only Chopin, Beethoven, and other well-known composers. If you have learned a musical instrument, it's easy to pick up the beat or the melody at the beginning. But it doesn't matter if you haven't learned any musical instrument, because it doesn't mean you're going to be slower to absorb it than others, it might just take a little more effort to understand it. For me, who had played piano, there was a little bit of a barrier in identifying the beats, because I always wanted to listen to what the sounds were, so the focus was not on the beats. One of the reasons for recommending this class is that it excludes the content of basic music theory, and the way the teacher interacts with the students, such as asking questions or playing music clips, will make us more aware of whether what we read in the book is correct, and will enable us to identify the title, composer and genre of each piece of music. (三)生活環境

The campus is just like other American schools, it is full of green grass in the summer and surrounded by maple trees in the fall, the only difference is winter, it will become white with snow. Because Winona is located near the Mississippi River and is relatively high in latitude, it will start to get cold before October. Around the middle of October, the temperature will start to drop and it will get cold enough to start snowing. I live in the dormitory near the school. The room I chose is a single room, which gives me more freedom in time and space. After all, I won't be influenced by my roommates and won't disturb them. In terms of food and clothing, I think it is much more convenient for me to live in the dormitory than to live outside the school, because I don't have to worry about what to eat. In addition, the laundry dryer in the dormitory is free of charge and I can wash it several times if I want. In addition, neither my friend nor I rent a car, so we have to call a car to get anywhere. Winona is a quiet country town with a quiet neighborhood. If you want to go to a busy place, it's Walmart. Last year, many students in TKU chose to rent houses off campus for one year. Before, I also wanted to live outside. After all, it was more convenient, but it was not as good as the dormitory in terms of security and privacy. Novel coronavirus occurred this year, so I returned to Taiwan two months early, and the United States will refund the accommodation and meal fees in accordance with the proportion. In the second semester, because I was used to eating American food, I reduced the cost of meals and cooked with my friends. Although we had to go to the market to buy food together every week, we didn't have much money to share it.(332字)

(四)自我成長

I think that I have a big change after I go abroad. My mother said that it was troublesome to ask for leave in the United States, and I was also afraid that the class content was difficult. Therefore, I attended the class almost all the time, and only missed a few classes because I was not well. When I came back to China, I talked with my parents. They told me that I had become a lot. I didn't encounter any difficulties in my life, except that sometimes I had to take a ride to Walmart to buy something. It was actually a good thing, because every school building has wireless Internet, so even if you don't have a phone number, you won't lose contact with your family and friends. Before the first semester, my three roommates moved into the dormitory, and the cultural difference began. They were both late to bed and early to rise, and they had many small arguments with them because of their different living habits. In terms of the temperature of the air conditioner, they would set it very low. However, because I was afraid of the cold, I wrote a note to tell them that, on the contrary, I felt discriminated against. American students are usually not very friendly. For example, my roommates use the common area of the suite as their own activity area and their entertainment area. Therefore, whenever there is a long vacation, I will be very happy. When I first met this kind of roommate, I wanted to report to the school, but I had to swallow my pride and turn a blind eye for fear of causing more serious disagreements in the future.(285字)

(五)大三出國建議

The climate in Minnesota is drier and colder than in Taiwan. If your skin is dry, you can buy hand cream and lotion there. I didn't expect it to be so dry. One more thing, if you really decided to go to read, words, you must take very warm clothes pants coat take full, will also bring gloves scarf and wool cap, but if there is no words don't have to worry about family, the school will go to the Mall many times, because the end of September or so will start getting cold in October, will also began to slowly under the snow, I remember the first real under thick snow is in November, the general is can't wear shoes, into the snow, so the boots to be ready as soon as possible. Winona is a rural place, the whole city is quiet, but also a little boring, just because it is quiet and there is no place to go, so I will be more serious about my studies. For the first time, I will take a plane to go abroad by myself. I need to pay attention to the information about transfer, and I must take my visa and passport with me. Money is also one of the important items. The flight I took in the summer vacation was transferred between guangzhou and Los Angeles. Before leaving, my father reminded me that I must pull out my luggage and put it back on the MSP flight when I arrived in Los Angeles. The security check in the United States is relatively strict compared with that in Taiwan. Anything that cannot be brought on the plane will be carried out by the security personnel according to the regulations. In addition, don't worry about the problem of not renting a car, because there is a shuttle bus to and from the school, but the car is small, can carry the number of people is not much, it is recommended to book a good place in advance, just don't have to wait for a long time.(345字)

(六)其他

I went out to play three times by airplane in a few months, I went to Chicago, Florida, and Yellowknife. We really did not expect to have a big opportunity to see the aurora. Although we arrived very late, the good news is we didn’t feel tired. We decided to go to the aurora village. That's how I saw aurora. After we saw the scene with the naked eye, we just learned that the photos on the Internet are the photos from the exposure of the camera. It is not as beautiful as we saw in the pictures.(99字)
