In the first semester, I have studied in the American Language Institute level three because of my English Proficiency Score is lower than the standard for formal courses. And I learn about the four basic section of English, listening, speaking, reading and writing. One of my favorite lesson is listening class. The teacher is called Brian. Although his teaching method is a little stricter than other teacher, but it is because of his strictness that my English listening ability is greatly improved within three months. So I really recommend the teacher in this class. After the first semester, me and my friends want to have the courses to get credits, so we prepared the IELTS for about three months. Finally, we have pass the standard for the university courses. I think that the four basic classes helps us a lot. In the second semester, I have chose four classes for twelve degrees that each are "The Human Resource Function", "Capital Markets", "Skills Methods Global Leadership" and "Introduction to the Visual Arts". But our second semester has just started less than a month, because of the coronavirus we have to leave the United States as soon as possible, so that I have not started to meet the teachers and classmates of the class, we are going to leave. If I really have to say, I think that although the formal courses can get credits and absorb different professional knowledge, it will cause a lot of misunderstandings in learning because of language barriers. Finally, I want to say that although I am uncomfortable with the teaching methods over there and I miss everything over there, whether teachers, friends, or the campus environment, Everything is very worthy of our nostalgia and learning. If there is still a chance, I would love to go back and finish the remaining credits.(306字)

(三)生活環境

Our school life is wonderful, the first semester we have classmates and friends from China, Japan, Saudi Arabia. We learn and play and grow together everyday. Our class time is from 9 am to 3 pm, sometimes there are some activities after school. For instance, Halloween carving pumpkin, ice-cream party, and some outside school teaching. In the second semester, we have the local and also the foreign classmates but local classmates are not friendly as the other foreign classmates. And the campus there is amazing, it's big and beautiful. To be honest, I like it more than Taiwan's campus. My Taiwanese friends and I live in a small community apartment near the school. The bus takes only ten minutes to reach the school, and the bus stop is in front of our community. The reason we will know this community apartment is because most of the last seniors also live here. The community’s geographical location is very good, restaurants, fast food restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets and so on, all just take us five minutes to arrive there by walking. When it comes to climate, California is the best place to go if you like summer. I think that California is very suitable for people to live and travel there, it's hardly to rain in California. I went there a little bit more than half a year and only encountered two rainy days. The food there was plentiful, there are many kinds of food from many countries, but usually we buy some groceries at Costco and cook at home together.(257字)

(四)自我成長

When we first got there, we usually deal with the friends and parents that who we known each other and passed from Taiwan together. So in the first few days, we didn’t think that there are some misunderstanding or difficulty with our US life actually we felt very fresh. Until we get better and better with our community administrators, because sometimes we don’t understand what they say and we are not really familiar with their culture, so when we are having a conversation with them they will teach us some local American language and some American culture. I think that the most difficult thing that I met is their stores were closed at around in the evening, I haven’t had dinner at this time in Taiwan. So I can’t get used to the thing in California is to eat dinner earlier and if you really want to eat supper, the only store that it was still open is the fast food restaurant. At school we learned a lot of cultures from different countries, for example, the English written by students from Saudi Arabia is written from the right to the left, and also because the English of their country’s have not capitalized, so teachers will teach them from the beginning. Sometimes I really can’t communicate with them because of the culture. On the contrary, students from Japan are more likely to communicate with us. Although their accent is very heavy that we can’t understand what they are saying, but they can write down the words then we can absolutely understand. Although the pronunciation is different from ours, the meaning is the same.(279字)

(五)大三出國建議

My suggestion for those who are going to CSULB next year is that don’t bring too many things when you go abroad, just buy all the things over there, otherwise you won’t be able to bring them back. You can buy the furniture on the second hand website or Amazon it is really not too expensive. And I think that the best way to have the classes is one semester for American Language Institute and one semester for the courses that you wanted to learn. These two kinds of teaching method is totally different, if you really wanted to try everything in US half half is the best choice. I think that American Language Institute can learn English deeply than the university courses, but it’s disadvantage is that there are no credits to take. If you talk about life experience, you must go to a road trip at least one time in United States. We went on many road trips to San Diego, Las Vegas, Death Valley and San Francisco. The scenery along the road and the memories of hanging out with friends are really impressive. At last, let’s talk about the two things that I last regret. The first one is that we went to a lot of amusement park, except Disney. Disney is my favorite amusement park, but I planned to go there a month before returning home. And the second one is that we have planned to go to the east side of US, New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Boston on our spring break and we already book the flight Then because of the COVID-19 we must go back to Taiwan soon, and the airline doesn’t even refund us. So I want to tell that wherever you want to go just leave immediately, actually traveling without a plan is a real travel.(310字)
