(二)課程學習

My favorite class in U.S. is Surfing. Every Thursday we had to wake up at 6 a.m. Then spent half an hour to drive to the beach. The sea breeze was so freezing in the morning. Not to mention the sea water. The couch told us, if you’re not brave enough to get in the cold water, you could never learn how to surf. After learning some basic skills, we have a chance to try and practice. My first try was a mess, I lost control and fell in the sea. I didn’t succeed in the first class, I was so disappointed. But I didn’t give up. I watch how others do the move and keep trying. I paddled out and ready to catch a wave. Three, two, one… It’s time. I paddle as fast as I can. Unfortunately, the wave is to strong. I wiped out. The coach taught us some tips. I keep practice and finally I feel the wave carry me to the shore, although I didn’t stand on the board. I was lying on it. The feeling was so amazing. I couldn’t wait to paddle out and surf, this time, I am going to stand up and surf. With my hard working and practice. I succeed and even the coach said I did a good job. I was so happy and proud of myself. While I was in a good mood, something happened. My friend was sting by a sting ray! Actually, we were so afraid these couple weeks. Students got stung every week. Although, it hurt a lot, but after half an hour foot bath in the hot water, he’s fine. Also, he had a sting ray key chain from the coach. I am envious of a gift from the coach. It could be a memento. (309字)

(三)生活環境

California State University Long Beach is different to my hometown university. Students ride skateboard, scooter or bike to get to their classroom. In addition, the gym is the best place for me. I go play basketball and workout every day. I met some local friends and have a good time playing full court basketball with them. They are all great players. I learned different skills from them. Moreover, one of my Japanese friends also taught me some workout knowledge. Unfortunately, coronavirus break our plan. Long Beach has one of the best weathers in the world. The beach is half an hour away, so we often go to the beach feel the sea breath. The best restaurant we have been there several times was shabu shabu. It is a hot pot restaurant with cheap prices and thin meat. The old guy who runs the restaurant is so funny and nice. He told us how to cook the meat in the right way and show us some American humor. We live in a apartment where has a swimming pool and spa. We often go to the pool relax and exercise. We are very lucky that our friends have car to give us a ride. In U.S you got to have a car or it would be very inconvenient. But if you don’t have a car, you had to take Uber or the bus. We also rent a car and have a good time taking a trip to other cities. I love this place.(253字)

(四)自我成長

Students in America are more extravert they can easily share their thoughts to the class, even sometimes it’s wrong. They don’t care about how other’s think about them. They know who they are and is confident. They are not afraid to fail. On the other hand. I don’t’ really speak in class. I am kind of shy, but I can focus on what others and teacher are saying. I had a Spanish class and it is so hard for me. My first language is Chinese, second language is English. So, using my second language to learn another language is a big challenge. Every country has good person and bad person. Racial discrimination still exists, we often met some rude people. They are so mean that they talk shit and f word to us. Although we want to fight back, we didn’t. First, we are foreigner. Second, maybe they have weapon. Last, our English is not good enough to fight with them. This world is dark and not fair. So, we had to study hard and work hard to earn enough money or to have special skills. On the other hand, we met some good people they are outgoing. They taught us knowledges and cultures that we have never heard before. Also, they invited us to their party. We become close friend and we often go do out together. Now, we were back to Taiwan. We miss them and worry about them. Keep safe and stay healthy. Thank you guys for taking care in the U.S.(261字)

(五)大三出國建議

If you want to improve your English, you can’t be shy. You had to go out and meet some friends. Also, don’t be afraid, be brave. Try anything you had never tried before. Don’t’ stay at home and be a lazy pig. Go out and see the world. Don’t go out at night. Taiwan is much safer than other countries. Keep in mind that don’t put bags or stuffs in the car. My friend lost his ID and money and it was stolen by the thief. Don’t trust strangers, people come to you with some reason. So always pay attention. Safety comes first. If you want to go to any places like Disney land or NBA. Go immediately. Due to the virus, we lost our chance. You better practice cooking at home. So you can cook by your self. When you try to buy something on the internet. Be careful! The people might from China or other places that try to sale you fake stuffs. Also, always lock your apartment door. When you had conflict with others, stay calm and see what you can do. They might not be polite to us. People on the street might beg you to give them some money. If you are kind and rich you can help them. But, some of them are liar. It’s up to you. Enjoy your trip. Having a chance to go to outside country was a bless and it’s precious.
