Class:Japanese Teacher:Miho Nagai My favorite class in the United States is the Japanese class. Because my father has studied in Japan, he knows Japanese. Since childhood, he has been exposed to Japanese. It also made me hate learning other languages. When I arrived at the National High School, I began to get in touch with different cultures, and I became very interested in Japanese culture. When I arrived in the United States, I saw that there were open students studying Japanese, so of course I did. At the beginning of the class, there are a lot of discomforts. Because it is in English, there are many times that it must be converted to Chinese and then to Japanese. So when you first learn, it will be very slow, but the teacher is also very patient. He knows many students 'S mother tongue is not English, so she will stop and wait for everyone or teach classmates alone. By the middle of the semester, I was used to the teacher's speaking speed. I didn't have to switch from English to Chinese and then to Japanese in my mind. I could directly switch from English to Japanese. The teacher's teaching is also very interesting. Through some performances and oral expressions, he met with different classmates, and also made some foreign friends in the Japanese class, and began to slowly integrate into the pace of foreign life. Around the end of the semester, a lot of exams and speaking exercises were conducted. The teacher focused on the speaking part, so most of the second half of the course was on the speaking part, because learning the language is to be used to speak. After a semester of Japanese courses, I really learned a lot of thinking methods that may not be learned in Taiwan. Anyway, I learned a lot in Japanese class. (311字)

Winona State University is a very beautiful and very humane place. Everyone is very enthusiastic and will not discriminate because we are international students, so we feel very at ease. Because at the beginning, before going to the United States, I read a lot of news saying that it would discriminate and bully, but when we actually arrived at Winona State University, everything was just rumors, and no one here is what the news said. For accommodation here, I chose to rent a house with my classmates, not to live in a school dormitory. Because the money will be cheaper and the place we rent are also very close to the school, we will choose to rent outside. The Winona State University summer weather will be more comfortable than Taiwan, because it is not as wet as Taiwan, and it does not rain very often, so it will be more comfortable than Taiwan. In winter, it’s the start of a nightmare. It’s very cold. It’s very painful to get up every day. For example, I have to wear two pairs of pants and thick socks every day. The coldest will be -40 degrees. To go to Winona State University requires a little psychological preparation. There is not much to eat near the Winona State University. Apart from the school restaurant and the nearby sandwich shops and pizzerias, there is nothing very tasty, or you have to drive to eat. So we basically live outside and cook at home, which is more convenient and cheaper. In terms of transportation, it is really troublesome to not have a car, because the United States basically drives most cars, and few people will ride motorcycles, so remember to apply for an international driving license (293字)

When I first went to the United States, many things were different from Taiwan, and I was very uncomfortable, especially with regard to language problems. I learned so much English in Lanyang, but when I wanted to speak, I always said badly and told the other party not to Understanding what you want to express is part of the language. After that, I talked to the supervisor for a while. Slowly the language didn't bother me anymore. The part of the coursework was really difficult when I first arrived. The teacher's speech speed, content and questions all gave me a headache, but the teacher was very serious. When Teachers saw international students, they will always ask, Is there any problem or don’t understand there. By the end of the semester, it will be less difficult, and the teachers will slowly chat with our international students, and they will also tell cold jokes. I really appreciate teachers. Culture may be the most shocking part. It is really too different from Taiwan's culture. First, the toilet compartments are not completely blocked, which is really strange and unaccustomed. Second, American cars are really polite. Drivers will let passengers pass first. Unlike Taiwan, cars pass first and people pass by. Driving in the United States is really different. Finally, tipping is really important for Americans, and may be a source of income for them, so if you can give it, try to give it as much as you can. Don’t be that stingy for tips. (253字)

(五)大三出國建議

To those younger students who will study abroad in the future. Don't be afraid of failure. The more you are afraid of failure, the more he will come to you. Don’t be afraid to ask too much. WSU’s teachers are not afraid to ask. If you don’t understand, just ask directly. It’s okay to interrupt the teacher in class, or you’re afraid of being rude, you can ask directly after class. Outside of schoolwork, please play hard. It may be the first time to go to the United States. You have a lot to experience. Going to other states with friends, pay attention to safety, and having fun is the most important thing. You can also go to some school clubs and meet friends who are not Taiwanese. Make more friends and you will be happier. Hang out together and have a party together. You can also try different sports, such as skiing and ice skating. Some sports that cannot be tried in Taiwan can be tried here. You can also eat some authentic food, such as shake shack, in and out. Anyway, if you decide to go abroad, don’t regret it. Use the time of the year to try, fail, succeed, and in the end, you can definitely learn something. Finally, COVID-19 still needs to pay attention. Don’t forget to Stay healthy and stay home. Although this year is a very difficult year, I believe that if this year go through it, next year will get better and better. (257字)
