(二)課程學習

In the United States, I took the American Language Institute in the first semester, and the formal courses in the second semester. In the first semester I took four different classes that are listening, speaking, reading, and writing. One of my favorite lessons is speaking class. The teacher is a female teacher. She is called Christy. Her teaching method is very interactive with students. It also teaches a lot of local terms about the United States. Because of the teacher ’s unique education method, my English communication ability has improved greatly in just three months, and it has also allowed me to integrate into American life more quickly. In the second semester, I have successfully pass the English Proficiency Test so that I can take credits from CSULB and transfer to TKU. I have take four courses that are "Introduction to the Visual Arts", "Skills Methods Global Leadership", "Capital Markets" and "The Human Resource Function". Four teachers' teaching methods are totally different, and all the ways are a big challenge for me. Because they are not as lively as Christy, have a lot of interaction with students. The teaching methods of all the teachers in the second semester are relatively static. And because of the Coronavirus, I haven't have time to familiarize myself with all the courses, and then me and my friends have to pack up all the things and fly back to Taiwan as soon as possible. I really miss my teachers and friends in the United States. I have made many friends from different countries and learned a lot of cultures from different countries. I also miss the school gym, that's where I and my friends go most often after school. If there is still a chance, I hope to return to California to complete the remaining credits.(301字)

(三)生活環境

In California, I lived in a community apartment with my friends nearby the school. And there is a bus stop in front of apartment, also it only take us 10 minutes to arrive school. The reason why we found the apartment is that the seniors lived there last year and they turn it to us. The apartment's location is perfect, there are restaurants and supermarkets just beside us and it only take us 5 minutes to arrive there by walking. When we first saw the campus, we are very surprised and excited. It is much more bigger than the campus in Taiwan, when we are going to change classes we have to walk there earlier or we will be late. And when it comes to noon, the student restaurant will be crowded but we just have one hour to eat lunch, so we usually eat Subway or sometimes just drink a cup of Starbucks and eat other things after school. We usually get home before four in the evening and take a bath before we go to sleep. By the way, we have a pool in our community so if we have time we will take a bath there and have a talk with each other. The climate in California is awesome, always sunny day just a few rainy day. I really love the weather there because sometimes if we have time, we will go skate boarding in the park with some local people there, I think that it is the most impressed experience for me there. (四)自我成長

At first, I felt that I didn't encounter any cultural shock. Until we met COVID-19, we wore a mask and went to the supermarket to buy some supplies of the week. When we just entered the supermarket, all the people were staring at us with a discriminatory eye and some people even yelled at us. At that time I finally knew that a part of the cultural different between Taiwan and US. But except those things that I have mention above, I think that living in California is perfect and I didn't encounter anything to overcome in life. If it comes to school life, in fact, I have a lot of difficulties in my schoolwork. I have choose a few business related courses and there were many essays to write, sometimes I really can't figure it out. Actually, I can understand everything in the class as long as it is translated into Chinese, but because of the class is teaching in English, I often don't understand some proper nouns, which will cause my progress to be in line with the teacher's. My progress is seriously behind the class. Because of these factors, my grades are not ideal. But unexpected, my English improve a lot, specially my speaking. Whether the life language or the school language I probably can understand up to 70 percent and even more, it is a really huge improve for me. Just take the advantage of the time you spent in the United States, it will be the best memory of your life.(255字)

(五)大三出國建議

The suggestion for the sophomores, first of all, if you are going to CSULB with your friends I suggest you guys to buy a SUV not a simple car, it doesn't have to be a new one the second hand is more cheaper and you can sale it back to the company that where you buy. Because the road in the United States are really bad, if you want to go on a road trip sitting on a simple car will not be more comfortable than traveling on a SUV. By the way, SUV have more spaces for you all to put your luggage. Second, hold the opportunity, as long as you have a three or four days holiday, you should go out and walk around. Don't stay at home to save money. There are also ways to save money when you go for a outside activities. If your stay at home in your abroad year, you will regret it when you come back. For example, like me, me and my friends thought that there are many times for us to traveling around US, so we planned our travel on May and June. But who knows that we met the COVID-19 that we must pack our things and go right away back to Taiwan. So take the chance and go for what you want. At last, be friendly to your classmates, it is a really hard opportunity to met a lot of people from different countries. Be nice and make friends with them will make you improve a lot and maybe you can travel around the world to find them in the future.(273字)
